>:(Ok.....I thought to start a debate on this subject because quite frankly....I'm angry at Dodge for doing such a stupid, stupid thing..... Is it just me or is anyone else concerned about this little "Change of design" of the "NEW" Dodge Charger Daytona’s? I mean COME ON! compared to In 1969, The Dodge Charger Daytona made history in the automotive world in all it's aerodynamic wonder. The only reason that it got banned from NASCAR is because it didn't fit/make the 'new' standards/rules for 1971 (?) The new Charger Daytona to me just looks like they took a 'new' Charger and slapped a few decals and the name "Daytona" on the side and a teeny spoiler. I mean think about it...... The Original 69 Charger Daytona was different, unique and strangely beautiful.....This 'new' excuse for a resurrection is just wrong. There's NOTHING different about it. NOTHING to tell it apart from the '06 Charger other then a spoiler, but take away the decals and such, it's still just a Charger. I may be wrong, but still..... There was a HUGE difference between the 69 Charger Daytona and the 69 Dodge Charger, you would NEVER get them confused. I started this debate because I just say a 'new' Dodge Charger Daytona by my house and it pissed me off. I mean seriously....they need to stop taking beautiful cars and trying to make them "retro-modern" It's annoying...leave the Mopar legends alone! They are fine as they are. Any one else have any thoughts??

At least it isn't as bad as when GM took some random Australian sports car and slapped the Pontiac GTO nameplate onto it.

I WANT A WING! D< The least they could do is give it a larger wing.
The only Throwback car I like is the new Ford Mustang. Being a classic VW Guy, I really dislike the New Beetle as a throwback of the original. You just can't mess with perfection.

I pick my nose in its general direction.
Respect the classics or leave'em alone!

And what about the Camero and Challenger concepts.
I don't really like the camero, but I am enjoying the Challenger concepts.
Me I think the new Mustangs are alright. I'm do enjoy the new Shelbys.

The Challenger and Camaro are no longer concepts...they're both slated to enter production in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
I hated the Camaro concept at first...but then it sort of grew on me. Which is quite an accomplishment for a muscle car, considering that my head is usually turned in the direction of the European booths.

thought that's a Plymouth Superbird. how's a plymouth superbird a Dodge Charger? A Charger Daytona and Superbird share similar characteristics. This is a Superbird And this is a Charger Daytona One of the main ones is that the Superbird has side scoops.

thought that's a Plymouth Superbird. how's a plymouth superbird a Dodge Charger? and i think the new charger looks alright. by the way, Tracker... how you feel bout the VX Monaro then? Another really really big difference is that a Plymouth Superbird, has the word "Plymouth" in either black or white on the back side panels, and the Dodge Charger Daytona has a band expanding down from the tailwing that has the word "Daytona" in it..... Another biggie is the front headlight doors on the Superbird are usually in black vinyl, where as the ones on the Charger Daytona are the same color as the car. ^_^ But yeah......The whole concept of bringing back the old and trying to make them new, but retro in all the same is just a rediculous concept in itself. They should have just left the Daytona Charger alone! I don't really mind the new "2006-07 Dodge Chargers" but I'm still annoyed by it, but when they took something like the Daytona Charger and completely DEMOLISHED it's beauty and conformed it's unique charm to modernize it, that just get's my temper flared. I'm glad to see that others feel the same as me. *Is still shaking her fist at Dodge*

Go figure since Dodge and Plymouth were both Chrysler brands. q= But I quite like the new Charger and its variants, because it's putting some real oomph back into the bland four-door sedan category. Plus, I don't think the design is as retro - or at least as obviously retro as, say...the Camaro and Challenger. Seriously, those guys must be desperate if they're banking their futures on token muscle cars in the wake of the Ford Mustang. And look how badly Ford's doing! It's like some patriotic tirade to try to distract the Camry-obsessed public from the Big Three's woes (and whose fault might that be, hmm? I Wonder... XD) As for the Daytona...style-wise it looks a lot more formidable than the rice-inspiring spoilers on the old one/Superbird. No offense, Mr. Weathers.

I don't hate the new model, but I'm not a fan of it, either. Given the choice, I'd take the original every time. There's a charm associated with the Daytona Charger and Superbird because they look so different. And different is okay in my book.

I think the reason why the new Daytona is so...minimal, is because Dodge already have a high-performance version of the new Charger(the SRT-8) and don't want to compete with themselves.
As for the Monaro VX(which is the new Pontiac GTO in the USA and a "Chevrolet Lumina Coupe" in the Middle East...man I hate badge engineering), I don't know much about it. It does seem to be getting a bit of attention in the local motoring community, so I'm guessing it's a good car.

The new Charger Daytone looks like the usual new Charger, just with the tiny spoiler, no match for the origional(sp)

The new Charger's are okay I s'pose... But they show very little resemblance to the older, sexy ones. But I don't think the new ones are horrible looking, just... Weird. (They look like Chrysler 300C's to me... )
