I'd checked out your DA gallery, Pooky, and you mentioned something about the doors being some sort of intimidation display?

I could see that working. VW Bus Doors, when spread, are actually much wider than that picture.

I always thought gull-wing doors made better Dumbo-doors, especially in flight. XD Poor DeLorean.

oh thanks volksdragon! i need that piccy!! *snatches* i had to really imagine how their doors would look..only through the help with them closed...now i can study this pic!
yeah..i wondered for the longest time what they could be..i came up that they could be a tool towards courtship(especially if it has pretty designs on the doors) like the way a turkey flares their feathers..cars would flare their doors also for intimidating and threats...like the way two roosters would spread their hackles...it makes them appear bigger..more threatening.. to me the males use them more often..but it can also depend on the breed(make) and their courting ways.. to me females more often use them if they have to protect their young..flare them at dangerous predators..

What year is Chris? I can get you loads of pictures from odd angles. XD The Bus in the photo's actually for sale in Fresno, California for $9500 [click]TheSamba.com is the best VW Classifieds site ever. If you want any kind of Volkswagen, you can find at least 5 for sale here. XD That Bus is actually really cheap. A restored split microbus usually hauls in at least $12,000

It's an aircooled Volkswagen, of course it's good on gas. XD I don't know the exact numbers, but I'd say anywhere from 20-25 MPG in the city.
