It's called extinction when a certain species completely dies out, there's no way to bring that species back. So in the Carsverse, when a certain make dies out, it's just gone, except for a few classics, though.
There aren't very many Superbirds left and it's probably assumed that the remaining bunch are trying to fight for their survival. These are extremely rare and classic cars and they'd be on the endangered makes (endangered species) list if they are on the verge of extinction. And I think that Eva would have a better idea about this than I do.

yeah i agree wit ebony... i guess for endangered breeds perhaps they start some type of "breeding program"? like they get payed to contribute towards saving their breed.. i think they would have car makes(breeds) assocations too..like we have for dogs and horses..

The way I worked it out, if a clan or make collapses, they lose the advantages of capital and factory support, and social cohesion may soon follow. The best of them get absorbed into other clans, the rest just have to manage without. If they can work to keep the foundation stock from dispersing, they may be able to revive a collapsed clan. That's what is being discussed in the "Next Generation" RP right now.

Also, large clans could help revive near-extinct ones, probably under the condition that they'd maintain control over the revived clan or even mix some of their genetics into it. This would mirror real-life manufacturers reviving old marques(eg. VW reviving Bugatti or Mercedes reviving Maybach). In fact, the Bugatti example was already dealt with in the Full Circle RP.

Forced breeding? Works for me. -bricked-
But dogs and horses don't found and run their own dog and horse breed associations. That's a bit different. But I get your point.

The "Make association" is pretty much what the "clans" in the RPs are...except with maybe more political/social power.

Chris:"I'm a flat-faced volkswagen hippie bus woot! not.."

In the RPs, this is called "Purism", meaning anyone who is a pure Pontiac, or a pure Dodge, or Jeep thinks that they are better than say, a mixed-breed with different characteristics from a Dodge, Pontiac, and a Mitsubishi.
Ooh, more learning! Thanks for the link, Tracker.

Case in Point: Saab.
Other makes have come together trying to save the dying car company, so there are now Subaru and GM genes mixed into the Saab bloodline over the past few years, among others.
So this could be a very real thing in the Cars world, it even happens in real life.

Wait, pooky, I didn't know you had a VW Bus character? XD And a Gothic one at that? I must know more, I see lots of Busses like that on this VW classifieds site I go to. O:
"Some were commercially successful in providing mass transit, until a backlash against these large speedy vehicles resulted in passing a law, the Locomotive Act, in 1865 that self-propelled vehicles on public roads in the United Kingdom must be preceded by a man on foot waving a red flag and blowing a horn."
Can you imagine what it would be like if a law like that were passed today?

XD *roadkilled* I'd assume why American-made/-badged models would hate Eddie though, given the thorough infiltration of the Camry into the American market. Anyhoo...how would countries that don't have their own real brands get populated? I'd imagine that the Philippines has lots of "jeepneys" and "home-made" style jeeps and AUVs (think SUVs but a LOT more utilitarian), for one. Given what happened in WW2, I doubt there'd be nearly as many Corollas as they have roaming around today...though the Toyota Tamaraw FXes would be commonplace. Bugatti in the Full Circle RP? Where was I when they dealt with that? X.=.x;;; Finally, there are Shooters. Now that's a mystery.
