OK, here's the AC:
Full name: Caleb Johannsen Chaffee Rank: Rear admiral Class: Nimitz class aircraft carrier, with according dimensions and tonnage Age: 38 (mid-career) Eyes: Dichroic hazel and blue History: Caleb is from one of the foremost military families in the western hemisphere, with relatives serving in the US, UK, Canadian and Swedish navies. He was selected as a carrier prospect at the age of five, and shortly afterwards went off to the naval shipyards to begin a twenty-year program of schooling, conditioning, training and reconstruction to meet the demands of the job. It is hard to see the original creature under all the modifications, or the person within. He has no spouse or romantic interest; he is completely married to his career, and the day he retires will probably not be long before the day he dies. As the Navy is his wife, those who serve on his decks are his "family", from the fighters and bombers he bears on his flight deck to the lowliest snipe in the engine room. Most of the ships in his group see him as the stern father of the fleet, but is there something else there? Something else that could have been?

Nice. There probably is something else to Caleb and Nerina is going to bring it out of him.
Anyway, I think it's better to discuss anything major that we want to happen in the RP before we go and do it because it helps in figuring out our characters' reactions.
Also, for the upcoming conflict should we have the fleet arrive at their destination or have them encounter a group of pirates that's been harassing merchant ships?

If there's any trouble it won't likely catch them unawares, not with all their radar and sensing equipment. The aircraft will probably run across it first.

Maybe the pirates trail the fleet like a pack of wolves, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Since there have been requests for ship stats and rank structure, Wikipedia has this, this, and this. As for the pirate idea, maybe the fleet could come to the aid of a vessel under attack by small-time pirates. After fending them off(I'd figure the pirates would just run at the sight of a Navy carrier group), the main pirates would attack from a nearby hiding place(the Strait is pretty narrow, so there should be a few places near land where small boats can hide). Oh yeah, and this.

The merchant vessel has to send out an SOS and one of the ships would have to recieve it so that they could come to said ship's aid.
And, with some of Nerina's clanfolk shadowing the fleet, wouldn't that put her in a bit of a spot if she were to be ordered to chase the pirates? Maybe that would put her in a position where she could be directly harrassed by her clanmates.

Well, since this RP seems to have slowed down for some reason, I've come up with a couple of ideas to get things going again.
As Janet meets up with the tanker to warn her of the danger ahead, she'd detect a submarine snooping around nearby. Once the sub realises it's being watched, it quickly tries to escape, and Janet takes chase. Whoever wants to control the sub can decide what to do with it after that.
As for the ships, maybe the trawlers would escape into an inlet just large enough for a cruiser or destroyer to get through. Fletcher and Nerina would go in after them, and find out that it's a trap.

I was kinda in a state of not knowing what to do next, but the sub idea sounds neat. From all the books, plus some Turner-Classic movies, I read about subs, I think I can handle a sub in the RP well enough. Maybe this sub can be something like the one in The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy. Read both the book and watched the movie.
Also, the trap idea for Fletcher and Nerina sound good too. Gives both a good chance to interact with each other.

I've got some ideas for a trap. There could be mines anchored at the mouth of the bay, beneath the surface. The destroyers would come in over them. Once they were inside, the full length of the tether chain would be released to enable them to bob to the surface. They would be proximity-triggered to go off if the ships came back near them.

And the sub could taunt the destroyers, but being careful not to set off any of the mines itself.

Yeah, I came up with the trap idea so that it gives Fletcher and Nerina a chance to work together...so far they've had almost no interaction with each other. Also, the pirates are pretty helpless against the fleet in open water...in the inlet they have a bit of an advantage and that makes things more interesting.
And I remember seeing part of the Red October movie on TV a long time ago...I barely remember anything though.
On a completely seperate note, this RP has inspired me to pick up Ace Combat Zero again...I still haven't finished that game in Mercenary mode...

I'm gonna be kind of slow on RP's tonight and tomorrow, on account of my usual weekly deadlines. Maybe those Russian aircraft could be there to cover for the sub, which would give my F-35's, Claudette, Stuart and Chastity, some chance at action. Tobias is going to go help the destroyers if he can. The Arrows might also get tangled up in it, since they're after the same game, which could lead to some snarling up there.
