What was your initial impression of Cars? Like, when you saw the commercials and stuff? Were you excited to see it, or were you less than impressed?
Admittedly, I thought it looked horrible. A movie about talking cars? Riiight. There was no way I was gonna see it. Then I saw some fanart someone did of Sarge and Fillmore, and I thought they looked like really intruiging characters. They kept nagging at my mind until I went to see the movie. My friends who had seen it all said it was surprisingly good. So I went to see it with a friend, and I was hooked. Not only did I love Sarge and Fillmore(still my favourites) but I loved most of the other characters to death, too. And I still realize how stunningly talented they were at anthro-ing cars.

I saw a shiny bright racecar zooming along the track, and heard the engines roaring. That was pretty much it. Instant love.

I wasn't that excited over it when I first saw the original trailer. I liked the bit with Lightning and Mater, but the race scene was somewhat bleh in comparison. As more of the movie was revealed through commercials and podcasts and whatnot, I became more interested.

At first I was skeptical, then slightly warmed up to it as more trailers, info, etc. came out, but didn't actually become obsessed with it until I watched it.
Funny thing, I didn't realise the whole "no humans" thing until I actually saw the movie. When I first saw the trailer, I was like "WTF are those weird blobs in the spectators?".

The only exposure I had of Cars before seeing the movie was to catch Bonnie Hunt in an interview with Jay Leno. They showed the clip in the courthouse, from when Sally enters, and when she tries to butter up Doc.
Knowing Pixar, I knew it was just purely cars or any automobile world, no humans at all. And I went to watch it just for one reason, to figure out how they moved. McQueen had shown good flexibility, along with Mater, so I wanted to see the rest of the movie.

I first saw the trailer when it came out on Apple.com. At that time, I thought it was nearly being released in cinemas, and didn't have time to go watch a movie. That was in 2004 or 2005.
Now that I re-think of it, I think I was already starting to be a fanboy, but did not admit it.
Back last summer, I wasn't checking too much what was playing in theaters and when I first heard of Cars I was like "Didn't that come out like 1 year ago?". Finally, no.
Back in 2006, a week or so after it got out, we were bored on a weekend and decided to go watch a movie. Between those big names that were playing, both my brothers and my father decided to go watch Cars.
What? A kids' movie?
I decided to give it a try. I'd give it a review on my blog, and see if teens could still be interested by that kind of stuff. It turned me into a fanboy (something I've never been after 2001). I gave it a 9/10.
And now. I'm here.

Knowing Pixar, I knew it was just purely cars or any automobile world, no humans at all. Why would you think that? Every previous Pixar movie has featured humans except for A Bug's Life(and even that had hints to humanity's existence).

It was the background mostly. They were too specialized for cars, and there was no sign of humans at all.
Let's see... Toy Story, focues completly on the toys, while the owners are shown very briefly. We dont even know how Andy or Andy's mom looks like. Finding Nemo has humans much less.
In Cars, there was simply no hint at all humans exist. Maybe I was judging bit too fast, but as seeing the courtroom scene, I just knew there were just cars.
Alright, I was wrong.

I wouldn't say they "featured" humans. but had them in, yeah. Toy Story 1&2, Monsters inc, Finding Nemo, Bugs Life. Incredibles was the first to "feature" humans.
I really don't recall too much of my first views of cars. I know i read that it was being made in an interview in Empire for Incredibles when it ws touted as sort of being based on Hot-Wheels. I must admit, even then, I was intrigued. then i THINK it was the teaser posters... the spy-shot-like stuff. it just got better and bettr. i had to see it and wasnt dissapointed despite mediocre reviews.

No you weren't. You thought there would be no people in the Cars world and you were 100% correct. I wasn't aware there was no people until I saw the movie. I got a good laugh out of the cars in the audience, now it's just so normal to me. Yeah I think I saw the "intruiging" picture of Fill and Sarge hey hey * nudge nudge* I loooove anthro household appliances and vehicles so I was " omg! a movie made for me!" OMG Amethyst STOP I'm trying to be MATURE. YOU CAN'T PROVE ANYTHING. I want to see the Brave Little Toaster again (haven't since I was too young to really remember it) but I can't find it anywhere.

When I saw the first trailer way back when I saw the Incrediables at the El Capitan I thought it was gonna be horrible, I had no desire to see it what so ever. Then I saw the previews last year and I was all like "Wow this looks really good" and so I saw it with my friend and we came out and we were all like, "Wow that was really good." Didn't strike me in the heart right there and then, not till the second time when I saw it with my brother, then I came out of the theater sayin, "OMG! I LOVE THAT MOVIE! IT'S THE BEST EVER! MUST BUY SOUNDTRACK! MUST BUY TOYS! MUST LIVE EAT BREATH CARS!" my brother was very frightened by this lol

I was on a school trip in sixth grade and they were playing the Incredibles. Then I noticed (from a seat way back from the tiny Bus-TV) some talking cars on the screen. (Later turned out to be the trailer with the Bee) Then it showed Fillmore and Sarge, and I saw Fillmore, who was a VW, and I'm like Ooh talking VW. Then I forgot about it for a year or so. Then the website came up with pics and trailers and stuff, and I was hooked again. XD When the movie came out, I'd already expected it to be cool. Except it was better. o:
