"Have you ever seen quadwolves?" Dawn asked Ebony.

"Yeah, I've been informed that you wanted to see me...", said Martin as he entered Tess' desk.

"I've seen a few, but they didn't bother me," answered Ebony, "Yet, they're not creatures that you want to tease, believe me, or they'll retaliate in some nasty way or another. It's best you stay out of their way."

Raine felt a small surge of panic run through her chest. "But Doc and Mater'll be ok, right?!"

"Yes. You had mentioned at one point that you wanted to reorganize some parts of the network, and I think now is the time we might want to do that." As she spoke, she pushed a pad across her desk on which was written: We need to nail this person who's stirring up the CIA. Can you set up a few honeypots? She was expecting that Martin would carry the spoken conversation along the lines she'd started while writing down what really needed to be done. Her small sub-office had nothing but the desk and two chairs, no ornamentation or any other furnishings that could provide cover for a bug, but she was not taking chances.
"Sounds like it could be really dangerous out there." Dawn gripped her arms.

"They'll be okay," Ebony assured Raine, "And I'm pretty sure they can handle themselves. But, like I said, I have a radio and if anything happens, I'll know about it."
She looked at Dawn, "If you can learn how to live in this world, you'll be able to survive."

(((Stuck. Would the riders be back yet, or did Ebony go ahead of the others to get to her twins?)))

Raine bit her lip and nodded, but she still couldn't help but worry about the remaining cars' safety, mostly Doc's. "God, smite me now if something bad happens to Doc..." She thought aloud. She wanted to speak to him on the radio to warn him but she felt like it would embarrass him...

<<< Ebony went on ahead >>>
Ronald kept a watch on the horizon, keeping an eye out for the "quadwolves" that Doc had warned him about. Presumably they wouldn't be interested in alien creatures of flesh and blood, but the behavior of prey animals, such as horses were, might prompt them to give chase if the horses were spooked into flight. At his orders, everyone had their carbine out, resting loaded and ready across one arm. The horses picked up on the added tension, and flicked their ears anxiously. As for Doc and Mater, they brought up the front and rear respectively, with the tow truck swishing his hook left and right in readiness to lash out at anything coming at them from behind. They had already come across fresh tracks in the area.

Martin thought carefully about his words. He was the kind of guy who would say the wrong things if he wasn't cautious.
"Yeah... actually I was searching for a few things in the inventory and... I didn't find what I was looking for. But I still think I can set up permanent e-mail accounts for everyone in here... so I have better control on them..." he winked, saying that, "...and people could send e-mails to others in here only knowing the first and last names... not having to deal with cryptic and hard to remember hotmail accounts.
I'd also set up some DNS filtering just to reduce the risks of us being found earlier than we would like to.", he added.

"Doc told me a bit how he survived being a doctor in a virtual ghost town," said Ebony, "He's also the town judge and has dealt with even the nastiest badies in his time. He forced a cocky racecar to pull a road-paving machine to fix the damage done to the road and this racecar learned some tough life lessons. Doc has a powerful influence. So it's rather unlikely that he allows anything to happen to him."

Alexis rode alongside Jade and kept her eyes forward, listening to their sourroundings. Losing one sense tended to strengthen the others, and what exactly was a quadwolf.

"Good," Tess nodded, sipping her coffee, which she took black with no cream or sugar. "An intranet setup would help a lot right now. How about firewalls?"
She wrote something down on the pad again, and thought for a moment before passing it over. Make it look real tempting, maybe even act like something's afoot.
Dawn nodded soberly to Ebony. "That's what I want to do. We can't stay in this bunker forever."

Raine, meanwhile, had retreated to her personal bunker and had begun to pace nervously back and forth, tugging at her ponytail anxiously. "Ugh! damn it! If its one thing I should focus on is to take control of this stupid anxious, worrywart personality of mine..." She sighed dramatically as she flopped herself onto her bed, staring up at the ceiling as her mind swirled endlessly with her worries.
"What the hell is wrong with me?!" She asked to no one in particular, expecting some disembodied voice to answer all her questions. However, she was unaware that the PDA in her pocket was still on, and it also had a signal going to the radio that the others held, including Doc.
"Why am I so drawn to him? It's not like I'm in love with him or anything... I just... I just wish he could understand how I feel... Of course, no one's gonna listen to someone like me... I always push them away... I don't want to be viewed as some b*tchy teenager who wallows in her self pity... I just wish they could understand me... especially Doc... I mean, I know he's a little gruff and straightforward... but, I know that he's also gentle and compassionate and full of wisdom... and I respect that..."
