It wasn't long before Kaliska started to smell the distinct notes of another Acro's scent. No doubt this stranger was on the same scent trail as her. She growled to herself, as if dealing with the 'raptors wouldn't be trouble enough.
She inhaled deeply, letting loose with a threatening bellow that resonated across the plains.
*
Neonis stopped short as he heard the distant roar. Almost simultaneously, every Zeburi looked toward where the noise had originated in the east.
Seleysha stood and moved over to her parents, communicating quietly in a series of whispers. In most cases, the Alphas only spoke with the Betas directly below them. The issue was what to do. Stay here and defend the kills, or head back to the nesting grounds, where only a few adult females were present to guard the chicks?

Jabali slowed ever so slightly, another Acro? Threatening him? "They shall be foolish to threaten me."
Growling, he sent a deep roar that sounded back, he wouldn't let what he'd been waiting for all day go to another Acro.... he'd never have it.
---
KanKov looked off to where the second bellow came from, it was closer than the first...and it was the Acro from earlier, he realized what they were doing, soon, two Acro's would be upon them.
He glanced at the Alpha's who were in a discussion, would they hurry. He growled in his throat and looked in the distance, squinting harder, he made out the movement of the trees in the distance...the first Acro would be there in moments, the other...he had no idea.

Kaliska heard the answering roar of challenge. The deep octaves made it safe to assume that this territory was held by a male Acro. She stepped up her speed to an easy, loping half-run.
*
The Alphas swiftly finished speaking to their daughter before trotting off. Seleysha turned to the rest of the pack, standing tall and bobbing her head once in the follow them signal. Though reluctant to leave their kills, the Omegas and Gammas moved off after their leaders.
"They don't want to take the risk of the Acros finding the nest before we get back," she explained, stepping up to Neo and Kan-Kov. "We can always kill later, and these iguanadons will keep them from trying to raid the nesting grounds for a while yet."

KanKov nodded, looked at the kill for a moment, then looked foreward. "Let's get out of here then before we join the iguanadons in their fate."
He looked over as the first Acro burst from the trees and sprinted.
---
Jabali's hunger drove him on, as he cleared the tree's, he could see the 'raptors running from their kill...they knew better than to stay, he grinned sadisticly.
Good, he'd only have one fight to deal with today.

"Well.... more treatments than actual cures. For instance, I've discovered a few plants that are good for treatements against ticks. A sort of tick repelant. The only problem is that it isn't water-proof which can be bad. But there's other stuff I've discovered that works well as treatements. More of my work is in disease and hunting injuries, though. Like.... I've got treatments for this disease that really seems to appear in cold weather that messes up our sense of smell. I'm not sure what to call that disease though other than 'that-one-that-shows-up-in-cold-weather.' Seems too long of a name for it," said Maui.
Finally.... someone who doesn't seem to think I'm crazy! Someone who's actually taking an interest in my ideas! Maui thought.
She took off her satchel and put it on the ground. She opened it up. Inside was various inventions, tools and medicines Maui created and discovered. She pulled out what looked like two turtle shells strapped together. She undid the organic straps and opened up the shell.
"I keep some of my more interesting specimens in here. I've been testing them. Some of these have even been tested on myself whenever I get sick or hurt. These ones in particular seem to work pretty well. If they didn't, I don't think I would have been around," said Maui.

Although they had expected to see one coming, the Beta pair flinched at the larger predator's sudden appearance. Seleysha was the first to break and run. Neonis growled, half out of anger, half out of frustration for being forced to leave their kills, before taking off after her.
It wasn't worth risking the pack's safety trying to defend more meat than they knew everyone could consume.
*
Noah crouched down, peering critically at the many devices. He'd never seen such an assortment before. He sniffed tenatively at the medicines, noting with a mixture of unease and wonder that they smelled oddly different.
Always attentive to his home's normalcies, he looked up sharply at hearing a distant roar. For it to have carried that far, it couldn't've been any of his packmates making it.
An Acro. The thought made him tremble inwardly. He was no fighter. All the more reason he was glad he was far away.

Jabali arrived at the fallen cows, he looked in the directions the 'raptors ran and made sure to memorize the scent...he'd be after them later.
Looking down at the kill he could see what had already been eaten, it didn't really matter, tough meat was easy eating for him and that 'raptor from earlier hadn't exactly filled him the way he would have liked.
He looked up in the distance, he knew the other Acro was coming, he bent down to tear a piece of meat from the dead beast and grinned as blood ran over his throat and fangs. He swallowed it and as he did, could make out the shape of the Acro in the distance.

Maui was no ditz when it came to the sound she heard.
"An acro? Here? Oh! I hope it's not the one who got in the way of one of my experiments last week! He was really angry at me for it!" said Maui.
She quickly packed up her gear and strapped her satchel to her back. However, what would happen next would catch the two completely off guard. Dashing right past them and attempting to hide behind Noah was a rather huge Acro. Even more supprising was that he was trembling and crying? Maui, instead of putting up her defenses, was more curious about the weeping acro.
"T-tell me..... t-th-those iguanad-d-don.... are they-are they g-gone....?" the acro managed to say between uncontrolled sobs.
(OOC: Enter Silas, the acro! XD )

Edurance wasn't something Kaliska possessed. She was only dangerous over short distances.
She eventually slowed to a walk, panting harshly through her open mouth. It was pointless, wasting her energy like this. Each intake of air assured her the territory-holder was still present. Narrowing her amberish eyes, she could just make out a profile in the distance. Too far away to study her newest rival, but close enough to start bracing herself for the upcoming confrontation.
She bellowed a second time, not as loudly as before, but loud enough to announce her arrival to anyone within a quarter mile.
*
Since hatching, Zeburi 'raptors were trained to rely more on reflex than pondering. Sometimes, if you took the time to think, it could mean your life.
Naturally, Noah's first instinct was to duck and jump away from the Acro. He raced down the riverbank before turning to assess what he was seeing. Suffice it to say he was a little stumped.
What is this... guy babbling on about? he thought, tense as he gave the Acro a once-over from a safe distance.
In his world, Acros didn't behave like variable cowards.
Scratch one more weird dinosaur he had met today.

Maui being one who relied more on the power of thought and curiosity of the two, went up to the acro.
"I don't see any iguanadon here so I think it's safe to say they're gone. I think it'll be okay," said Maui.
The weepy acro looked at Maui and almost instantly like she were a five foot teddy bear, had the acro's arms wrap around her as he was weeping.
"Y-you s-s-s-scared them off! MY HERO!" said the acro between tears.
The acro's grip wasn't deadly, but it certainly wasn't comfortable for Maui.
"Augh! Erg! T-thanks! A-anytime! I-I-I hate to be rude, b-but I c-can't breath....." Maui choaked out.
"S-sorry. By the way, my name's Silas.... an artist!" said the acro letting go sheepishly.
"Uh... Hi? I'm Maui, a travaling inventor. Uh... just what WAS going on with those iguanadon?" said Maui.
"They made fun of me...." Silas muttered.
Maui looked in Noah's direction suggesting it was okay to come over.
"Well.... they aren't here now. So they can't do that. Besides, why would they poke fun of you?" said Maui.
"They think my love of art and cloud watching is stupid...." Silas muttered.
Again, Maui looked in Noah's direction.
"It's okay, Noah! I don't think he's going to hurt us!" Maui called out to him.

Out a further distance away from the action, one could hear a fustrated screech of a young female utahraptor followed by the laughter and giggling of two males dashing away from the scene of the crime.
"HA HEH HEH HA! We got her this time, Yuma!" said one of the males.
"HEH HEH! No kidding, Zuma! The look on her face was just priceless!" said the other male now known as Yuma.
Yuma was going to look back when a rock whizzed passed his head. Zuma cackled.
"Hey! Yuma! Looks like we've got ourselves a rock thrower!" said Zuma with glee.
The fustrated screeches could be heard behind them.
"I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS YUMA AND ZUMA! YOU'RE SO DEAD!" the female shouted.
That just made Yuma and Zuma laugh even harder as they just managed to escape the female's wrath.
To those unware, Yuma and Zuma are none other than the Makena's own imfamous 'Raptor Twins.' Anyone was fair game for these pranksters. You ALWAYS had to keep these two in sight otherwise if they disappear from view, the trouble starts. This was such the case currently when they just managed to prank a young female.
(OOC: And here's Yuma and Zuma's enterance.)

Noah scoffed through his teeth and shook his head, continuing to stay at least one body-length away from this Silas. Peaceful intentions or not, the Zeburi 'raptor wasn't interested in going any closer than necessary. Just being in the presence of one was enough to send his blood pressure skyrocketing.
Besides, Silas couldn't have possibly gotten that big without consuming a few herbivores in his time.
*
After leading Zubrini on a tour of some caverns, Azra had left her to her own devices, free to wander the territory if she chose so. Knowing his post at the river was probably filled by now, he had gone on a wander for himself. He alternated between trotting along the trails or scaling the odd tree or two.
He happened to reach a perch just as he heard the female's cry of outrage. Before he had time to think who it could be, a couple of familiar figures happened to dart by on the path below his position. He sighed tolerantly upon recognizing them.
The twins, Zuma and Yuma. Stirring up chaos... again.
Azra was older by at least three years. Ergo, there was some obligation, when nearby, to make sure they didn't cause a lot of harm. Without calling out for them to stop, he dropped back to the ground, crouching low and slinking off after the brothers.

Silas gave a mopy sad look to Noah before looking at the ground again.
"S'okay. I get it. He has right t-to be scared of me given my spiecies' reputation. Although.... I wouldn't hurt him.... or anyone else for that matter unless they were fish or other water dwellers," said Silas in a saddened tone.
"Well..... uh.... you're welcome to take my experimentation spot for a while if you want. I think I'm done with my gear for the day," said Maui.
"R-really? You aren't going to chase me away? T-thank you!" said Silas greatfully.
He gave a graceful and yet humble nod.
"I'll-I'll take good care of it while you're away! I promise!" said Silas.
"No worries, Silas," said Maui with a smile.
She came up to Noah.
"See? No harm done. Though...." said Maui.
She lowered her voice so only Noah could hear.
".... he's the first peaceful acro I've ever met. He seems way more scared of us than anyone else is of him," Maui whispered.

Zuma and Yuma retreated in to the bushes to stop and rest. They took one glance at eachother and laughed.
"Aw! That was great! It was so well timed and the look on her face! I'd love to have that burned in to my mind as long as I live, Zuma!" said Yuma.
Zuma laughed.
"Same here, Yuma. Stuff like that is just so worth it!" said Zuma.

I don't know. He might have a rival in me if we're debating who's more scared of who.
Noah swallowed before speaking. "W-what are we supposed to do, then? I can't just keep this whole thing a secret from my clan. Sooner or later they'll catch his scent if he stays here."
*
Azra came to a stop not twelve feet from where the twins stood, hidden below some particularly dense undergrowth. Remaining crouched down, motionless, he slowly turned his head, wondering if he could eavesdrop on their next planned ploy. Who would they plan to ambush next?

Jabali tore another hunk of meat from the corpse, he noticed the other Acro had slowed considerably. He then heard the bellowing roar and sneered maliciously. He was ready for confrontation.
---
Laousa nudged her children away from the other mothers again, she could see their eyes drooping and knew they needed a short nap. Getting them around her, she readied for a nap.
((A possible next target for the twins? xD))

(OOC: XD Twins to the rescue! Or not! XD )
"So, Yuma? What about our next target? I'm thinking of that Laousa-girl.... you know, the one who's kinda frail and stuff. She has loads of kids! I'm thinking we can stir up a little something," said Zuma.
Yuma grinned.
"You've got my attention, Zuma!" said Yuma with a chuckle.
Zuma was going to say something when he smelt someone in the air - an eavesdropper. The Twins had a way of dealing with this. A sneaky way too. One could call it a prank within a prank.
"Hey..... Yuma? I've got a better idea. Let's go all the way to the edge of the Makena territory where all the igunanadon hang out to get a drink, right? Remember our mock stampede trick that we did last May where we tricked a few Zeburi guys there and they were almost trampled by the iguanadons only we set up a pit trap for those Zeburi to fall in to in the nick of time before they were run over. I swear they had something scared out of them Wanna try it again?" said Zuma.
Yuma, catching on to the plan, nodded.
"Yeah! I remember that! We're going to have to get up and leave soon if we wanna set up for that for next morining. It'll take us most of the evening to get there," said Yuma.
"You know, I think I could relax here just a little longer until we set up. I think we need a break," said Zuma.
"Great idea, Zuma. We can catch a short break," said Yuma.
(OOC: Uh-oh! XD )

"But he's in Makena terrirtory, right? As long as he's there, they can't freak out entirly. But what to do in the long run is going to take some thinking. He's easily scared and intimitdated. I mean he ran away from iguanadon! The only thing I can think of is if he hid in one of the caves near by for a while until we come up with a better plan. It should keep his scent from wafting too far. We can also take turns on checking in on him from time to time to see if he's okay. I know it's weird.... but it doesn't seem like he'd want to hurt us at all.... unless we were seafood which we aren't. But that's the best I can come up with right now," Maui whispered back.
Besides..... I'm not attached to either clan anyways. I used to have a clan.... but now I don't. Hmmm.... that reminds me.... I'm going to have to think about what to do about dinner tonight while I'm thinking about what to do with Silas..... Maui thought.
