"Oh yes," smiled Delfina, "He does."
*****
"Well, I guess we come from different families, huh?" asked Freda with a chuckle.

Randy wasn't about to make assumptions about Freda's family and potentially ruin a good thing, so he inquired carefully. "So, where does your family live, anyway?"
Dawn was now cutting vegetables to go with the rice and seafood. "So what else were you hoping to find down there?"

"My mother lives in Woods Hole and my father is in Annapolis," said Freda, "See, my mom fell in love with a naval ship and had me. I'm a crossbreed."
*****
"Maybe some artifacts from an ancient civilization like Atlantis," shrugged Delfina, "Or sunken treasure."

"Oh... so that explains why your dad felt that way about pets." Randy nodded slowly. "Well, you certainly got the power plant from his side of the family."
"Depends what people here consider to be "treasure". Dawn continued to dice celery with staccato strikes of the knife. "Though gold and silver are always good. Only thing is... finding a wreck or something like that would be sorta like... you know... disturbing the dead."

"Yes, but I got the love to find out about things concerning the ocean from my mom," said Freda, "I like to learn."
*****
"Freda's come across a wreck every now and then," said Delfina, "when her anchor hits something on the bottom or when she's sounding."

"So what does your mom work at, anyway?" Randy asked.
"Occupational hazard then." Dawn shrugged. "I wonder if they ever get bothered by it or they just deal with it?"

"She's like me," said Freda.
*****
"It only gets removed if it becomes a safety hazard for ocean traffic," said Delfina.

"Suppose it'd be too much effort otherwise." Dawn scraped the bits of celery into a skillet with onions and peppers.
"OK." Randy was sort of drifting into nod-and-smile land and trying to figure his way out of it.

"Nope," said Delfina as she sat down on a blanket that was spread out on the beach and lay down for a moment.
*****
"Let's look at the stars, shall we?" offered Freda.

"OK" Randy settled down. Dude purred and kneaded at Freda's deck before lying down.
After about forty-five minutes, the call went out. "Dinner's ready!"

Freda settled back, the kneeding making her feel good as evening rose over their little cove.
*****
Delfina sat up and grabbed a plate to serve herself. "Good, I'm starving."

Dawn and Manuel grabbed themselves plates and also helped themselves. "Now that's a change from "Mostly Vegetarian."
"He likes you." Randy smiled as he finally dropped anchor beside Freda.

(((((OOC: Sure.)))))
The next morning, Freda was underway again, heading toward the coordinates that she had been given. Delfina stood at the bow, watching the R/V's bow slice through the water. It was a calm, clear morning for diving.

Dawn and Manuel were making adjustments to their gear and the fit of their wet suits as they rode on Freda's aft deck and watched the "jet-wolves" play. Randy followed up like a dog at heel, or lovesick puppy, however one viewed the situation. They were heading to the point Delfina and Freda had visited earlier, in hope of possibly finding something of interest.

Soon, Freda came to the coordinates and dropped anchor. Delfina straightened up and walked to the aft deck to prepare herself for the shift over to mermaid form. She stopped where Dawn and Manuel were.
"So, you guys ready to go diving?" she asked them.
