Okay... in case you're wondering, this is NOT a debate about viscosity or anything totally sciency related. I just wanted a quirky thread title. Anyways... ONWARD! So here's the actual debate subject - Oil. Is it considered the vehicular equvalant or blood or some form of food? Now we had a similar discussion before hand at CFU I think and now I'm bringing it back here so we can finally get a clearer picture here. But you can also debate other vehicular-organic equvalants right here as well. So what are you waiting for? Ready! Set! DEBATE! ~Kamui.EXE

Well, first lets point out the times oil is directly mentioned.
Flo serves oil. It'd be a little odd to be serving 'blood' at a cafe.
"Sheriff, Go get yourself a quart of oil at Flo's.." "W'thanks, Doc, I been feelin' a quart low." That could mean his stomach was empty. I don't think he had a lack of blood.

You have a nice point, Volksdragon. Oil = food/drink/whatever. =] Gas seems to as well, as Flo not only serves oil but gas as well.
Which reminds me of the beginning of the movie. XDD

Say, didn't we discuss a part of this back in the theories section?
But anyways - Oil and Gas = both forms of nutrition in the cars world. Oil for keeping the engine running smoothly, Gas for what actually makes the car go. Could also double up as 'blood' in someway, I guess, seeings as though actual cars have fuel lines running through and such.
Therfore, Oil = not blood.

maybe they don't have blood?
I mean ( from what I remember from Biology) blood transports oxygen and such around the human body. and erm.... I dunno... cars don't need to transport oxygen around the body. :?

I think we kind of need to think outside the box for this one. Cars don't necessarily have to have body parts/fluids that equal the body parts and fluids in the human body. They function totally differently than we do. Oil in the Cars word serves the same purpose as oil in the real word. For a car to function as a sentient and more flexible being, like they do in the Cars world, they wouldn't need an extra circulatory system - cars are perfectly mobile and sufficient without such a thing. What they would need to make them the way they are is some sort of brain organ, and something that would make them as flexible as they are. maybe they don't have blood? I mean ( from what I remember from Biology) blood transports oxygen and such around the human body. and erm.... I dunno... cars don't need to transport oxygen around the body. :? Precisely.

I'm actually seeing similarities with water. Cars need oil like we humans need water- water keeps us alive, and oil keeps their engine from seizing. The human body is mostly water (95%? Is that right? I keep forgetting...) and the racecar that was pulled from the race in the beginning of the movie (Can't remember which one that was either! Not Leakless... RPM? "I can still race!...") he was leaking oil all over the place. Also, Mater was blowing "spit-bubbles" during Sally's speech during the traffic court scene, and you could see the "rainbow effect" of the oil; not to mention when he was drooling in his sleep. Saliva is mostly water, so oil must have a similar importance.
Or at least that's what I observed.

I thought saliva was just enzymes, though...

I thought saliva was just enzymes, though... Saliva contains enzymes to assist with the breaking down of food, yes, but I don't think that's what it's primarily made out of. As I said before, the human body is mostly water, so it has to have some water in it. Granted, it's thicker than water- hence why it's all gross and stuff when it streches and goobers. Besides, having oil in the saliva makes for some pretty cool spit bubbles.

Mater was. When he was sleeping, there was a big drop of oil hanging out of the corner of his mouth. And when he woke up he sucked it back in. XD
