Chapter 1:
It was a rainy day in the city of San Bernardino, the town’s citizens where tying to get home or get under some cover to get out of the rain.
On the main street where the famous Route 66 ends, there is a long forgotten museum building on the right side of the street. This museum used to be popular place to visit in the older days but now only a few tourists come and visit.
The owner of the museum, Amy Newman, a classic 1951 Pink/white Hudson Hornet, was having a hard time running the place now that her late husband, Jack was gone. She was given an offer from a huge antique dealer who specializes in route 66 buildings and stuff. Even though she was still young enough to still run the museum, but she knew that she always waited to travel more and evently visit the sites of the famous route. She has to talk to her only daughter before she makes any important decisions. She kept on doing her job dusting off the merchandise and other stuff.
Meanwhile in Radiator Springs,
Sally was up in the Well Wheel hotel, working in the main office when her phone rang. Sally stopped from what she was doing and drove over to the phone and picked it up.
“Well Wheel Hotel, this is Sally speaking, how may I help you?” she said in one breath.
“Sally this is your mother” said the voice on the other end. A huge grin appeared on her face.
“Mom, It’s been a long time since I heard from you, so how are you doing?” she said trying to listen to listen to what her mother had to say and continue working on some paper work.
“There a reason I called you, sweetie”
Sally listened carefully what her mother had to say. She was surprise to hear that mother wanted to sell her father’s museum,
“So you want to sell dad’s store and just travel around the states?” questioned Sally as she was puzzled to hear that her mother wanted to leave and travel.
“Yeah and maybe I can stop by and visit you in that town your living at.” Said Sally’s mother.
“That would be wonderful mom, I would like that.”
‘And maybe I get to meet this racecar driver boyfriend of yours, you emailed me about.”
Sally talked to her mother over the phone for a good hour and then hanged up the phone. While working, Sally heard a familiar engine pulling up to the hotel.
“That must be lighting, he on time.” She said to herself as she put the papers away and went outside to greet her boyfriend.
“Guess what, Stickers?” she said as both cars cruised downhill heading towards the small town.
“What’s that?” he asked as he pulled up driving next to her.
“My mother might be coming to visit.” She said eagerly.
“That nice to hear.” He said thinking.
After driving into town, they went straight to Flo’s to gas up and get a quart of oil. Everybody else was already there talking about something.
Sheriff was the first to notice the couple pulling into the two empty stalls across from him.
“Hello you two” he said.
Sally quickly applied. “Hello Sheriff” she said excitedly. Sheriff noticed how perky she was.
“What’s going on that making her so happy?” said Doc parked in the stall next to Sheriff’s.
“Sally’s mother might be coming to town to visit.” Said Lightning.
“That’s great to hear” said Doc looking over at Sally.
“So when is she coming to visit?” questioned Sheriff.
“I don’t know yet but I have a feeling soon I hope.” She said
“How long have you seen her, Sally?” questioned Lightning?
“I haven’t seen her since my father’s funeral and that been an exactly four years ago.”
Sally told everybody the whole conversation what her mother had to tell her.
Meanwhile in San Bernardino
Amy decided to sell the museum to the antique dealer, took the money and decided to take a road trip down Route 66. Her first stop: Radiator Springs. Not knowing what will be heading her way.
