Someone left a petrified leg bone in a plastic bag on my front porch and just this morning, I found out that it was one of my brother's friends who found it at the beach.
Now, I don't if it's a dinosaur bone, a mammal bone, or a prank, but I'm not sure what to do with it, but I wrapped it in a garbage bag to keep it from disentigrating if it is exposed to air.
This is just plain weird to me...

LOL...what does he think he is, a cat leaving its kills on its owner's porch?
I'd be a bit squicked too. Maybe a local nature center could figure out what it is?

Well, I have no idea where the closest nature center is where I'm at. I'm not even sure there's any in Ohio.
And, of course, it creeps me out too. The bone came from a beach in Virginia, probably Myrtle Beach.

It appears to be about a foot long, four inches wide, one side is a small joint and the other is a larger joint. It looks stone gray and there are small holes inside where once blood vessels flowed through it. I think it's a leg bone, like maybe the front leg of a dinosaur or something.

LOL..unlikely dinosaur..dinosaur bones are techincally stone..not bone anymore....the way you describe it..it's not old enough to be dinosaur..and the holes would be all filled in solid if it was dinosaur most likely.. you may have a deer or dog bone..or could be cow..all depends....i used to collect them..bones like that easily pop up.. posting a picture could help on us identifying the animal...

It might me a radius, ulna, or upper arm boen or a tibula, fibula, or femur. It might be a fossil or a bone that hasn't been naturally bleached.
Its it feels like a rock, and maybe a bit weighty you might defently got a fossil.
Can't really tell from the discription. Maybe if can borrow a digtal camera or even sketch it real quick on Paint. We might be able to get an idea.

and it all depends on where you find it..the type of dirt can differ on how the bone looks or it's condition...and also if it had been "cooked"..
it also could be a whale....since you said your bro's friends found it on the beach..my bro found a part of a prehistoric whale rib bone on the beach..

Thats what I'm thinking, I've seen plenty of whale fossils here (KS use to be a sea, so we have a lot of those fossils here) But there's the chance that it might have been carried down river as well. For certain its not shark (They don't have bones) or fish, we can take them off the list of possiblites.

It feels a bit weighty, sorta. And I said that it's the color of stone gray, not stone itself. It's too big to be a horse or a cow.
Maybe if I borrow my bro's digital camera (and have him teach me how to take a picture and upload it to my computer), I might be able to get a photo of it up. But, if that doesn't work, there's always trusty MS Paint... and that would be much slower...
But I have it wrapped up in a plastic garbage bag, as I feel very reluctant to expose it to air. Might harm it in some way.

Better to be safer than sorry, and you might want to store somewhere cool for it. It depends on how old it is to how much it can handle. And to see if we can narrow what bone it is. Here are some joint pictures. A lot of skeletons, including animals, have the same features, such as joints. Might give us a better idea of where exactly where it went. I've taken Anatomy classes (I heard it helps with drawing) so I'm raking my memories.
