This is a reminder that the first of three Cars Toons, "Rescue Squad Mater," airs TONIGHT on the Toon Disney cable/satellite channel at 6:56 p.m. Note that unusual airtime and don't set your VCR/newfangled cable-recordin' device for 7 p.m. or you'll miss it!
Tuesday, Oct. 28th @ 6:57 p.m. - "Mater the Greater"
Wednesday, Oct. 29th @ 6:57 p.m. - "El Materdor"
Every interview with the creators that I've read online says there might be more cartoons forthcoming if these are well received, so let's be vocal about them on dA, imdb and the Cars boards. Even if you think Mater is overexposed and you'd rather see Cars Toons about Sally, the DRH or Meepy the Mattress Van, write about your opinions and what you'd like to see. Who knows, someone from Pixar might come across fan opinions on the Net and be inspired.
Anyways, on to the good stuff: a sneak peak at *drool* Mater in Evel Knievel stars & stripes and a '70s-themed rescue episode:

I can't wait to find out who the female ambulance is, and check out the Miata twins with the dalmation spots and firefighter hats! My inner geek is already asking what's with the hats in the Carsverse...Red obviously doesn't need one since he's a firefighter to begin with, but Guido wears an afro wig during Lightning and Doc's big race and the twins are seen wearing them here, so maybe they're more "fan apparel" than anything that would be practical to wear while driving.
Also, the twins wearing fake towing rigs and buckteeth as stunt fans? Awesome, but the forklifts are really for the win.
It sounds like these are made-up tales of events as Mater wished they'd really happened. Either that or the Sixties weren't good to him either and this IS how he remembers his past.
Also, Owen Wilson wasn't Lightning's voice actor for these...odd.
