"All right." Guy nodded again. "So, my daughter tells me that you've been having some troubles lately."
"Well, I'm starting to think they might as well." Jordan sighed. "The whole family's here, and Shale's mother lives only an hour's flight out. And this station does have a chaplain to do the honours."
"It's not too far off." Stokes set a northeast course. "Just be careful of the tide."

"Yeah, with a big ship named Carl Deitrich who's been rude, intimidating, and whose men had tried to kill one of my best friends a few days ago as well as had enslaved a poor girl who we've just managed to free from his grip," said Delfina, and she pointed at Nerisa out in the cove, "Now, the only reason he hasn't bothered us lately is that destroyer out there."
A young man with long, black hair tied in a pony tail and scarlet eyes was watching and listening to conversation.
*****
"Now would be the right time for it," said Ebony with a nod.
(((((OOC: Was just thinking that if Shale's mother comes out, she'd start showing Bree baby pictures and embarrasses her son in front of his prospective wife and in-laws. XD)))))
*****
"I will," promised Freda as she followed alongside the cutter.

<<< XD XD that sounds hilarious. Sharon's probably got baby pics of Bree as well. >>>
"Well, if they come up with the idea themselves, we'll at least be ready for it." Jordan laughed.
"Friend of yours?" Guy asked. "She's certainly a good size. Not many ships will care to take on a destroyer."
"This Carl's probably keeping good and far away if he's smart." Sharon again exposed her steel.
"There it is." Stokes pointed out the rocks that were now rising from the water. The rock formations seemed almost dreamlike, and striated with bands of color that made it look like a candy palace from a distance. "It always looks a little bit different every time I come to see it, just because of the way the light plays on it."

(((((OOC: Oh, dear... XD)))))
"True," smirked Ebony.
*****
"Nerisa is Freda's friend," said Delfina, "but now she's apparently ours as well. She's been guarding our cove for a couple of days now even thought she's on leave."
*****
Freda's eyes widened as she saw the caverns for the first time. "Oh, it's gorgeous. Looks very natural. It must've taken millions of years of wind and sea erosion to get it to look like that. Truly a beautiful work of art."

"It's really unique. People come from all over the world to see it." He noted a tour boat, loaded with sightseers of the automotive persuasion, also coming through the area.
Bree continued to sleep on with Shale, while Greg watched over them with a fatherly eye.
"Definitely can't leave HIM out either." Jordan said of Greg.
"Now that is a generous soul." Guy concurred. His attention went to the powerboat girl dozing in the destroyer's shadow. "Is that the girl you also mentioned?"

Freda saw the tour boat, "Yes, it's like a hook. It draws people in."
*****
"No argument here," nodded Ebony.
*****
"Yes, that's Erika," said Delfina, "She used to be under Carl's control. I can't imagine all the terrible things he had made her do or what he did to her if she disobeyed him."

"Did she really have these... things in her brain that caused her pain if she didn't obey?" Sharon looked a little green at the idea.
It was just then that a call from a certain doctor made its way to Delfina's cell phone...
"That's one of the things that puts Villa Hermosa on the map for sure." Stokes nodded.
Bree murmured a little and nuzzled Shale in her sleep.
"They look kind of cute." Jordan snickered. "Maybe I should take a picture and torment them with it later."

"Yes, she did," nodded Delfina, "I had to go in and remove them."
She heard her cell phone rang and took it out of her pocket. She looked at Sharon and Guy," Excuse me. I have to take this."
She turned and answered the cell, "Hello?"
*****
"It seems so," agreed Freda. She was quiet for a moment, then turned to Stokes, "So, you live in Villa Hermosa then?"
*****
Ebony snickered as the image popped up in her head, "That's funny."

"I was born not too far off," Stokes nodded, "Been stationed a couple of other places, but finally back here for the time being."
"Delfina, it's Doc here." A familiar gruff voice replied on the other end, mincing no words. "You were saying Arazenol? I had my suspicions, but just to be sure, I asked Sally to run one of those cans down to Phoenix to a friend of mind in oncology, and he says they were LOUSY with the stuff. It's practically odorless and tasteless, so Bree wouldn't have smelled anything that wouldn't have been masked by the flavoring."
"I should do it, then." Jordan sneaked up, put out the video head from his equipment package, and took a still shot.

"You like it here then?" asked Freda, "Is it a nice place to live?"
*****
"Sounds like someone knew their drugs and knew of a helo's heightened senses," said Delfina, "No wonder Bree didn't pick up anything amiss. Is there a way to find out who was the culprit who did it?"
*****
Ebony watched, trying not to laugh. She looked up as Jordan came back. "They're gonna get you back for that, you know."

"It gets a little hectic during the tourist season, but at other times it's actually quite peaceful." Stokes answered.
At the mention of his daughter's name, Guy came to attention, and stayed silent while Delfina was on the phone with Doc.
"I took the liberty of contacting the Coast Guard about it, since whoever did this would have had to have known about Bree's medical history, which means they've had their dirty treads all over the coasties' personnel records and committed other federal crimes." Doc was almost snarling. "And that they should also draw fluid samples off of Bree to see if there are any corresponding drug traces. I have no doubt that certain offices in the Coast Guard administration are buzzing like a nest of angry hornets right now. We also sent the cans on to the FBI so that they could confirm."
After taking a call in one of the office areas, another forklift attendant came to talk to Greg. He sighed, and reluctantly began to wake Bree, gently patting her cheek.
"They need to take some samples." he told her, "I don't think you would have liked it if we stuck a needle in you while you were still asleep."
Jordan raised his head. "What's going on now?"

"And you like living here?" asked Freda.
*****
Delfina's fist began to spark with electricity as she listened to Doc give her the results. "Well, whoever it is, they'd better be found and caught soon, or I will go out to find them myself. They will get no mercy from me," raged the human, "Just one slip-up from them. That's all I need to fry the bumpers. Or tails. Or whatever."
*****
Shale woke up as well and noticed the activity around Bree, "What's happening? Is something wrong?"

"Definitely." Stokes nodded. "The waters are generally calm and the shoreline is one of the earth's garden spots as far as I'm concerned."
Guy was doing the math, and his sensitive hearing had caught every word from Delfina's cell phone. He was pacing now, his teeth exposed in a snarl.
"I told them that." Doc said. "That they'd better g*dd*m hope they get to the perps before you and any other users do, or they might end up booking a few bagfuls of burnt-up cinders. The Coast Guard guy I was talking to as much as said "Good riddance if they do", strictly off the record, of course."
"We have to draw off a fluid sample." Greg told Shale. "A call just came in from higher up, saying that they got a tip from a doctor, in Arizona of all places, who received one of the cans she drank from."
Bree winced a little as the needle was pushed through and the sample drawn off.
Jordan looked in anxiously from the doorway.

"I wish I could live here," sighed Freda, "but that means moving my entire base of operations from Massachusetts to California."
*****
"Oh, good," replied Delfina, "That means I don't have to take the blame or get punished if I fry them."
*****
"Oh?" asked Shale, "The only doctor I know out in Arizona is Doc Hudson. If he's found something, it's probably serious and true."
Ebony drove up to the entrance of the hangar, watching.

"For all I know, they might use you as a threat to make them give themselves up." Doc laughed harshly. "Come along quietly or you can stay on the outside... with THEM!" I have a patient coming in now, but I'll get back to you later, OK?"
"I bet there's lots of places here who'd love to have you." Stokes said. "Start sending some resumes around."
"Doc Hudson? Sounds like an ornery old cuss type if I ever heard of one." Greg laughed as he swabbed alcohol over the puncture left by his needle.
"Is that the same guy I've seen on TV with that Piston Cup racer?" Jordan asked Ebony.
