"Yeah, I only hope that it not gonna be like it was five and half years ago," said Ebony, shuddering at a certain memory of a certain black Ford who had manipulated the boys and had almost tried to kill her.

"I hope not either," Phoenix said. "That was enough of ghosts for me."

"I'm trying to stop having nightmares about it," sighed Ebony, settling down on the cushions in exhaustion, "I just don't wanna remember any of that right now."

"I'll drop it then," Phoenix said with a nod.

"Thanks..." sighed Ebony, relaxing back on the cushions again. It was still raining hard outside and an occasional flash of lightning would light up the dark night through the big bay window making it seem like daytime. Ebony got up and went to close the curtains because for some reason the lightning still scared her.

Phoenix glanced at the window. "Its starting to get bad out there."

"It sure is," said Ebony as she came back to the cushions and settled down again. She shuddered, "Almost feels like the beginning of one of those old classic horror movies I saw at the Ash Mountain theater a few times..."

"It does," Phoenix said. "As long as the power doesn't go out."

Just as Phoenix said that, there was an especially loud lightning flash and a crash of thunder and the power went out, leaving the two in darkness.
"You spoke too soon," said Ebony, "Hold on, the backup generator will kick in any minute."

"Until then," Phoenix said and flicked her antenna creating a fireball at the tip, casting a fiery glow around the room. "This should do."

Ebony watches the fireball appear. Its glow casts shadows along the curves and contours of her body. "It's better than wasting the electric power of our headlights."

"And we aren't blinding each other," Phoenix said. "We probably should go check on the kids, see if they're alright."

"Good idea," nodded Ebony as she got to her tires, "Use the fireball to light our way so we won't blindly run into anything and trip."

"You got it," Phoenix said she got to her tires, holding the fireball out lighting up the halls.

Ebony followed the fireball as Phoenix held it out, keeping an eye on its course up the ramp and down the darkened hallway. The first room they came across was five-year-old Artemis's room. Ebony peeked in to see that her daughter was still asleep and was relieved that she was.
