This was one of the reasons I wasn't around, we're getting big, but we're still a small town community and everyone is familiar with everybody... www.kmbc.com/news/15733679/detail.htmlI went to the vigil during work and came back when someone came in for a while tonight, I went to school and graduated with his older brother. The sad thing is that he had lost his legs when he was really sick a few years ago and he was really a great guy. He will be missed.

That's very sad. I'll say a prayer for his family today.

My condolences. Things like that always hit hard in a small town. This winter up in Bathurst, NB, there was a collision (on an icy road) involving a vanload of kids on their way back from a basketball game, with eight deaths.

I plan on going to his funeral Thursday, so I probably won't be on much, probably because I might get busted for punching Fred Phelps if he shows up.

They're spiritual bottom-feeders.

I'm relieved that things proceeded without too much rancor.

Excuse me a sec... *Happy dance then comes back" Finally, and I do... Took someone long enough to get him in the checkbook... Believe me when I say this, if he loses that church, a lot of people are going to be happy around the world...

Did you see the comments in Evangeline's links from people who remembered the children from that church selling candy to build the place? Awful stuff. I hope whoever ends up owning the church buildings can use them for peaceful religious purposes like they were meant for. I wish I could remember where, but I remember reading about some KKK complex that was seized and their buildings are now some type of peace center.
I'm glad the funeral was held with minimal disturbance. If they're protesting the funerals of those killed in car wrecks, I hope they utterly bankrupt themselves that much more quickly.
