"Yeah, it was one of the worst storms I've seen in my life — and I've seen many."
Amélie would have started a conversation with Dawn, but it was late and the kid was being called by her parents to go to bed.
Poor her... she sees the end of her world at such a young age...
She decided to take some sleep too.

Martin woke up early and decided to do some jogging around the mountain.

"Aron just doesn't understand that if we don't lead my grandfather away from here who knows how long it would be before he makes it into a zoo or something with the humans," Phoenix said with a shrug. "He doesn't know what he's capable of."

Kathleen received the information and relayed it to Shayla and the other aircraft. "The tribe has authorized us to speak on their behalf. Shayla, you can land right in town, and you're charged up. I have to hold the wards down here and prepare the cars, but this is what you tell them....
Within minutes, Shayla was on her way to that town, using a spiralling dogleg course so that her starting point would be impossible to guess at. She made a vertical landing in a vacant lot just outside of town, and the restaurant was visible from there. She started out towards it, sending a "calling card" towards Grayston, indicating that she had something to tell him. It was an open question how he'd receive this, as her reputation in her usual "professions" was well-known.
Lightning went on up to the surface and waited for Kathleen to do her work on him, waiting impatiently for Ebony and Phoenix.
Kathleen smiled to Martin as she saw him out jogging. Spotting Amelie over by the livestock pens again, she called the 767 girl over. She had something in mind.

"I'm not gonna let that happen," replied Ebony, "I'm gonna stay here and fight if I have to and protect the humans. There's nothing anyone can do to make me back off."

Grayston paused a moment, getting up and pulling out of the resturant. The Ford turned his gaze to where the lot was and the Harrier had landed.
He turned to the SUVs. "Keep an eye on Mr. Cole. Make sure he doesn't leave town. I have 'buisness' to attend to." He shifted and started for the lot.
~~~~~
"Then lets go do it then," Phoenix said getting to her tires. "I think a certain racecar uptop is getting impatient waiting on us."
Raine finished off her drink and sighed heavily, laying on the ground with her hands propping her head up. She could sense that something was wrong, but she didn't want to show it, afraid that Doc would end up hurting himself if he ever got in a brawl with Grayston.
Ebony got to her tires again, sighing. "Lightning. I bet he wants to get going already. Alright, let's not keep him waiting any longer. Let's go."
Shayla waited as the old Ford approached, keeping an impassive mask on her face. Kathleen had told her not to repeat her statements verbatim, because then Grayston would call her on it and say that Kathleen put words in her mouth. He'll find any way he can to rattle you, she was warned.
Kathleen set the false signature spell on Lightning. "Don't let him get within sight of you." she warned.
"Don't worry about that." he answered with a cocky grin. He edged over as he saw Ebony and Phoenix coming, just barely muzzling an it's about time! response.
Ebony just rolled her eyes as she pulled up. "I'm ready."
Raine felt edgy. She shifted constantly in unease, sensing that danger was nearby. She tried to suppress her urge to investigate, knowing that she or Doc would end up getting hurt. With a heavy sigh, she scooted closer to the Hornet's side, feeling a bit safer by his presence.
"Yes," Grayston said calmly as he pulled up."I believe you called me about something you wanted to discuss. You just so happen to pull me from a rather enjoyable lunch."
~~~~~
Phoenix narrowed her slightly at Lightning picking up on his thoughts, knowing very well that it might spook him. "You know we were near the underground river, it takes a while to get up to ground level."

"I'll keep this short, an' then you can bon appetit all you like." Shayla responded in a level tone. "When it comes to that land, money ain't the issue there, if it ever was. You don't sell something that's part of you, that's in your very core. Would Texans give up the Alamo? Would India give up the Taj Mahal? Same thing. You're comin' at rammin' speed against a very thick wall, Mr. Grayston."
"OK, OK." Lightning reverse-turned and moved aside as Kathleen went over to the women. "Sorry."
Kathleen muttered several verses of something in another tongue, and breathed out through her nose, hard, so that it would wash over Ebony. "This is the false signature. It'll last until sunset."

<<< No, sometimes it just takes time to formulate a good response >>>
Doc looked back at Raine. "I know. But it can't be helped. It can only be dealt with."

"And I'll continue to ram until I get there Miss," Grayston said flatly. "And there are other ways to get things done. But it would be rather unfortunate if there was a sudden forest fire that swept over it."
