Chase smiled sheepishly, "That would be me. My mom told me that she was in labor for seven hours before she was able to give birth to me. It exhausted her, but she was happy that I was out in the big world then. I think she also told me that everyone was very excited since I happened to be, technically, the second child born in the Springs. My cousins, Maven and Krill, were the first two children, since they're the oldest in our group."

"Woah, now there's a coincidence!" Jasmine said. "It makes sense though...you're a bit older than me, and I was born less than a year after my father's visit. But how are you only the second child to be born there? The town looks very old..."

"From what I heard from Aunt Ebs, the town used to be in a bit of a decline, making it appear to be almost a ghost town," explained Chase, "but after the arrival of a famous racecar named Lightning McQueen, the town was brought back life. Aunt Ebs arrived about two weeks after that, followed by my mother, and Aunt Ebs was the one who was in term and didn't know it at the time, so that would explain why Maven and Krill are older than either you or me. I'm about five years younger than they are."

"Looks like it had quite the history." Jasmine said. "It certainly doesn't look like a ghost town any more."
She took a quick look at the scenery surrounding the road they were driving on.
"This is a beautiful route...my grandpa says that our country used to look something like this decades ago, but now it's just a sea of tourist tents."

"Too many tourists can spoil the beauty of the country, or so I'm told. Shame really," replied Chase, "I've heard from Aunt Ebs and Dad about this national park called the Grand Canyon. They said it's really beautiful and worth the visit. This would be a good opportunity for our group to stop and explore for awhile."

"Grand Canyon..." Jasmine said. "I've seen it a few times in books and movies. Never seen anything like it in person though. Sounds like a good place to stop over, after all we don't want to finish this road too fast."

"I'll ask Krill," said Chase, pulling forward a bit until he was closer to the dark green Viper, "Yo, Coz! Why don't we stop at the Grand Canyon? We can spend some time exploring and besides, it'll be fun! What do ya say?"
"Well, Justin might wander off and we'd have to search for him," replied Krill, a little distractedly, "I'm a little worried about him."
"That might be bad, but why not let me put a tracking spell on him so we won't lose him?" asked Chase.
Krill thought for a moment, "That might work, I think." Several more minutes of thinking later. "Alright, we'll stop at the Grand Canyon. But remember. We stay together, alright?"
"Got it," nodded Chase.

Bran rolled his eyes at his siblings squabbling over the radio. "Just cut the chatter, willya?" he snapped. He glanced back to Arista. "Sorry." There was a town ahead, with facilities for cars and helicopters. He called down to Krill. "There's a full-service stop up ahead, even got a landing zone."

"Alright," replied Krill, "We'll stop anyway since there's some people who want to explore right now."
Arista just... smiled... She thought it was a good idea to stop for awhile.

Having heard his short conversation with Krill, Jasmine caught up to Chase.
"Wait a minute, did you just say 'tracking spell'? What do you mean by that?" She asked. Although she had heard many stories about magic and her father seemed to be a firm believer in it, she had never given the subject much thought before.

"Yeah, I said 'tracking spell'," replied Chase, "I was born magic-sensitive, just like Maven and Ethan were. I can cast spells on just about anything, including myself."
He kept his attention on Krill, watching and making sure when the older Viper would slow down, indicating their next stop.
Maven, in the meantime, had already put a 'locking spell' on Juni, just so the Skyvette wouldn't outpace any of them.

"Magic, huh?" Jasmine asked, interested but also slightly confused. "Mind showing me some?"

"Sure," Chase said and snapped his antenna. "Cinis cineris," a small fireball formed at the end of is antenna. "I use it mostly for light." He said juggling it a bit.

"Wow..." She said, staring at the fireball. "...does anyone else here know this kind of stuff?"

"Yeah," Chase said disapating the fireball. "Maven does and so does Hidekei. They've had a few more years for training than I have."
