Arista already had the map of Route 66 burned into her mind and was ready to give out directions in case any were needed by the group. She waited her turn to take off.
~~~~~
"Just be care, okay?" Ebony told her three children, "And watch out for each other, especially the younger kids. Oh, and have fun."
"We will, Mom," answered Krill.
"And we'll also keep in touch just so you and the other adults know how far we've progressed on our trip," said Maven.
"That's good," nodded Ebony, "I'll see you again when you come back."
"Bye, Mom," Maven and Krill waved as they left the diner with the other kids, "We love you."
"I love you too," Ebony answered, waving back.
She turned to Justin as he slowly slinked by, "Justin? Are you going on this trip too?"
"Yeah, Mom," replied Justin, "I'm going. Otherwise, I'd be bored in a town full of adults and little kids."
Ebony chuckled, "We're not that bad, are we? Anyway, I want you to enjoy yourself. You'll never know what you'll discover along the way."
"Sure. See you, Mom," Justin answered before he joined the other kids, indicating that he, too, was ready.
"My babies are all grown up," Ebony said mostly to herself.
"Mine are growing like weeds." Darcy said. "It seems like years pass every time they turn around."
"And they're already six? Time sure does fly, doesn't it?" mused Ebony, "I still remember when the twins were five and they used to drive me nuts with all their antics."
"Noelle will be hitting her teens soon enough." Darcy sighed. "We're looking forward to THAT, alright. I can just see Johnny sitting on the porch cleaning a shotgun while he interviews prospective dates."
By now, Bran was taking to the air, having already seen his siblings off.
"Well, the teen population is certainly growing in this town," Ebony rolled her eyes, "And Johnny's that protective, isn't he? I don't think I really blame him."
~~~~~
Arista eventually was in the air as well, as she and the rest of the helos followed the procession of cars down the road on their trip.

<<< Gonna be real slow from here through tomorrow night... the usual deadline fever>>>
Bran's visor display projected readings and map information directly into his eyes as he looked through it towards his siblings, who were now just specks on the horizon. Below him, old 66 was an asphalt snake meandering through the desert scrubs, with the teens as tiny specks heading eastbound to New Mexico. As helos go, Bran was speedy enough, but in no hurry to outstrip the ground-bound members of the party. They would reach the state border soon enough, unless they wanted to stop and explore the Grand Canyon caverns along the way.

Arista was also following the cars traveling on Route 66. The map in her mind showed the road ahead as either straight or in curves and she would occasionally let the cars know in advance what to expect over the next bend as their trip progressed as the day went on.
(((((OOC: Hmmm... a stop at the Grand Canyon would be interesting.)))))

Bran stayed as close as possible to Arista, but didn't want to give her the idea that he was some kind of moony fool, not at this stage. "We'll be getting to the Grand Canyon area by seven or eight." he said to her over the radio. "Would you wanna stay the night there and have a look around the next morning?"

Arista seemed to not mind that Bran was flying close to her. She smiled and answered his question through her radio, "Sure, I'd love to stop for the night. I've heard some really nice things about the Grand Canyon and always wanted to visit that place. But if we stop we have to let our ground-bound friends know too. We don't want to lose them."

"Sure." Bran grinned. He called down to Krill by cell. "Guys, were you planning to stop and see the Grand Canyon? We won't get there before dark, but we could do it in the morning."

"Well, we weren't planning to, but we might need to stop for a break every once in awhile so we won't tire ourselves out," replied Krill, "I'm a little worried about Justin, though. He might wander off and get lost in the canyon and we'd have to go look for him."

"We'll keep an eye out for him," Bran promised. "And as long as you stick to the tourist areas, you should be able to keep that risk to a minimum."

The four parents waved goodbye to their children as they drove away from town on the old Route. Even Lateef contributed with a youthful "Buh-bye!!!". As their shadows disappeared over the horizon, Lateef quickly grew bored and returned to playing with his toy hummvee, and Cam's features suddenly softened.
"What is it Camran, something wrong? We're all a bit worried for our children. It's natural." Lamia said, noticing the change on her husband's fascia.
"I know, I know...but it's something completely different. In fact, I'm a bit glad that the children won't have to see this."
"I don't understand."
"It's Tempest. I have to go and pay my last respects to her."
Lamia immediately understood, and placed a tire on her husband's side to comfort him. Both their eyes remained fixed on the farthest section visible of Route 66, where they had seen their children for the last time.

Hakeem and Jasmine cruised along with the rest of the group and admired the many sights of the American countryside. The older Jeep/Volvo was listening to his techno album to pass the time, while Jasmine decided to strike up a conversation with Chase.
"So, you always lived in Radiator Springs, or did you 'discover' it much like my dad did?" She asked.

(((((OOC: I was thinking that the kids could have an adventure in the Grand Canyon. Justin wanders off and gets lost! XD)))))
Tempest's spirit hovered at the edge of the town, watching protectively over the inhabitants as if they were her children. She was a kind spirit and very helpful, often acting as an unseen guardian for one of the small children if he or she happen to get too close to danger.
She was no longer of the mortal earth, a ghostly figure that skirts the edges of town, always watching, always alert. When she had passed away, Tempest was finally able to rejoin her deceased mate, Panther, a black Ferrari F50 with white stripes along the sides. Both were now watching over their still-living daughter and her mate.
Tempest had a sort of calm pride that Jade was carrying the next generation of magic-users in her matrix. This fact that seemed to be evident in the Enzo line and it would carry on for the next century or further.
"You and your child are the future," Tempest thought-spoke to her daughter, "Carry on our line as long as possible."
"I will, Mother," Jade answered in the same manner, being tuned to spirits, "I promise."
~~~~~
"Actually, I was born in the Springs and grew up there," replied Chase, "My mom and dad and Aunt Ebs were the ones who discovered the town. My cousins and sister were born there too."
((Scary thing, I was thinking about the RP at school and thought of the Grand Canyon as a possible destination.))
Jasmine nodded.
"My dad first went there a few months before he got his first Dakar win, after which he married mom. Apparently, his first rally didn't go so well, and he came to Radiator Springs to settle down and train in peace." She said. "He's told me of his visit several times, but he never explained how exactly the town healed him. Says that I will know 'when the time is right'. Fathers can be funny some times."
She thought for a bit before continuing.
"I just remembered, he mentioned a birth happening the first night he spent in town. I wonder if it's anyone here?"
((Cam arrived in Radiator Springs just as Phoenix was going into labor...))
