As braindead as I am (had little sleep, went to the clinic, got a nap and woke up thinking Eva was online and couldn't go to sleep) I will try to comment. Territorial dispute/war (on a larger scale: pack against pack) Dunno Flash flood (the plains 'raptors would have to learn how to climb and fast) In a middle of a drough? Severe drought; rationing of water (think TLBT 3) And that can spark territorial disbute, Makena may have water sources in the mountain, and the Zeburi want it. Injury (on a large scale or individuall) Someone attacked by the Acro? Disease (airborne or brought on by parasites) Interesting, but would need bit of a work Courtship battles (competitions between the young adults in early fall) Shouldn't it be in the spring? Widespread forest fire (the Makena would have to temporarily leave their territory for the plains) Interesting Stampede (could take place during a hunt) I did that once, I actually rolled a twenty sider to see if I should get my character trampled on, I rolled 18 . Leadership dispute (say one or both Alphas of a pack would fall, who would replace them) Only interesting if you have the right type of characters. Adventures in chicksitting (more minor drama, say a few kids were to wander off) Dunno

Elements involving different seasons could simply come into play at different points in the RP. Remember, the timejump option is our friend.
In RR, courting season takes place later in the year than nesting/hatching. I figure it's something to do with testing the bond, having a consorted pair weather winter together.

With you commentinly on the on the courtship, it is clear that is what you want the most. And then, we would have to lay down the courtship rules, which gender chases, any dancing involved? Any hunting involved?

Well, for the sake of simplicity, I was thinking of making it a process that's easier to follow. Come courting season, there will undoubtedly already be male-female pairs that are established. For them, it would just be another matter of seeing whether they are fully committed to one another.
As for which it is, in RR, it was typically the males' job to impress the females. Battles between females, over say a particularly desirable male, were highlighted, because as the case is with birds, some 'raptor girls were bigger than the boys.
There was a sort of dance described in RR, but I'm not one to fancy that idea. I'd think that each half of the pair would start with setting the groundwork for a bond of trust, learning each other's quirks and tendancies and whatnot, how much preening is acceptable, things like that.
BTW, page 5, APD RP, Neonis had the initiative to appoint Sarena as tracker for the upcoming hunt.

If we do in fact have the courtship battles, we need to work out the characters in courtship =3, but I do in fact like this idea.
The whole idea of the alpha's eventually being suddenly killed or something would work in Zeburi as KanKov is a power hungary raptor and it would be a good dispute to see who would rise against him and see how it faires, who takes his side whos against him on the others who are battling for the Alpha position. I think it kindof fits the rivalry between KanKov and Neo (neo doesn't have to want to be alpha, but i know he doesn't want kankov alpha)
Just brainstorming here, =3, i kinda got lost in the RP too, KanKov is in the hunt...but yeah =3 didn' really know what to do with him.

Well.... as far as who's in courtship, you can mostly rule Maui out because she's just way too ditzy, wacky, and geeky. XD But uh.... what other pairings do we have?

Just in case you missed it, Razor, I did fabricate a second Acro to give Jabali a chance to develop story of his own. Her profile can be found in my last post of this topic's 1st page.
Lessee, Kan-Kov, well, perhaps there's an instance where he's being somewhat rude, in regards to letting which rank eat first, and it sparks a debate between him and Neo that almost turns into a scrap.
Well, Neonis and Seleysha are already a pair. The challenge for them is simply staying together at that time; Neo will have his claws full keeping unattached males away from Sel. I'd planned on doing something with Azra around that time, but there aren't a lot of Makena characters as it is.
As for other players, it's up to them whether they want their 'raptors consorted or not.

I doubt, from pack animal point of view, that Sarena would mate. She is an omega, and while young but with experience, she is not physically fit enough.

Just in case you missed it, Razor, I did fabricate a second Acro to give Jabali a chance to develop story of his own. Her profile can be found in my last post of this topic's 1st page. I'll check that one out, that would be good since he's just floating around (well, he intends to attack the Zeburi when nightfalls but yea) Anyway, =3 Lessee, Kan-Kov, well, perhaps there's an instance where he's being somewhat rude, in regards to letting which rank eat first, and it sparks a debate between him and Neo that almost turns into a scrap. Hmm, perhaps that would be a case, he's kinda off in his own world right now but I could see that happening. KanKov is free for courtship, but it's hard to get anywhere near him, he dislikes girls that are cocky like him and prefers to be the dominant in any relationship =P plus, he has an ego that would make the french envious (I'm not saying all french are egotistical xD don't misunderstand) Anyway, as always, Laousa is a good mate and is loyal as well (which is to say that most of the males she's been with are not loyal at all since she's unattatched) Erm yeah, those are the only characters I have right now, unless you count Jabali, I'm still working with him. And hopefully by tonight or tomarrow I will have a picture of Laousa =3

Anyways, I have a rough idea for a character. I was thinking of a spinosaur that's a cross between Red and Filmore. Here's his profile:
Name: Silas Gender: Male Type: Spineosaur Age: Mid-late twenties Height: Uh.... way too damn tall. XD Interests: Fishing, plants, watching the clouds, watching sunsets, watching stars, the arts Personality: Silas gives meaning to "gentil giant." He's soft spoken and quite kind. Safe for fish, he wouldn't hurt a fly. However, if someone offends him and is rather unkind to him, he pretty much bursts in to tears, runs off and tries to hide somewhere for a while (For Silas, hiding anywhere is a pretty tall order for him given his size.) Odds are, he's more scared of you than you are of him! He much prefers doing calmer activities or activites that engages his artistic side. He can also be a bit timid and shy. History: I haven't gotten this far. ^^;;

I don't mean to be a stickler, Kamui, but Spinosaurus was a late Cretaceous arrival, and was native to what would become Egypt. Utahraptors and Acrocanthosaurs came about in the early Cretaceous and was found in the western US and Europe.
Realisticly, these species would never have encountered each other.

Shoot! I read somewhere where they were EARLY cretatious. ^^; Okay... uh... change that to Acro then. ^^;
Incidentally, I'll add two more characters for the Makena side. They're TWINS! XD
Name(s) : Yuma and Zuma Age(s) : Both are 20yrs. Although, both will insist that one is slightly older than the other by a few minutes! XD Gender: Both are male Type: Utahraptor Clan: Makena Personality (Zuma) : Usually considers himself "the brains of the outfit." He's quite mischevious and usually comes up with the pranks that both Yuma and Zuma play on everyone. Gets to be the MOST trouble when he's bored. Personality (Yuma) : Also mischevious and playful like Zuma. Only, he's much more of a chatterbox than Zuma is. Apearance: startling yellow and white feathers with dark brown skin, grey stripes, and a white underside Strengths/weaknesses:
- They're identical twins. So they BOTH have the exact same appearance, scent, and voice. They frequently use this to their advantage to confuse prey.... and pretty much everyone else!
- They're sneaky and quite cleaver
- However, if you call one of them by name, you usually get BOTH of them.
- Both Yuma and Zuma work together effectivly as a team. They work so well together, you'd almost assume they're actually one raptor instead of two.
- They hate being seperated. They can't live without the other. It's when they're seperated is when they're at their weakest.
- NO ONE is ever safe from their pranks! The only raptor who could see through their jokes is their own mother. Other than that, no one is ever safe..... except whenever Yuma and Zuma are sleeping.
History:
Yuma and Zuma are a rarity among raptors as they are BOTH identical twins. You virtually can't tell them appart at all unless you watched their behavior long enough. They may be with the Maneka side, however, they tend to often work on their own accord. Anyone and everyone is fair game to be pranked! So why aren't they kicked out of the clan? It's because they're twins and that they're valued as excellent hunters because they use their identical appearance to confuse prey. However, because you can't split these two up ever, they have lots of trouble finding mates... namely mates who could tolerate the TWO of them.
