One of the greatest video game series of all time, if I may say. I inherited my brother's beat-up PS2 along with all his GTA games (3, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories).
San Andreas is, by far, my favorite. It's so immersive and vast compared to all the others. Vice City is a close second, but mostly for the cast (Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds, Robert Davi).
I didn't really like the PS2 adaption of LCS, though. I'm hoping VCS turned out better.

Been an avid fan since the old top-down days on the PS1. Of course, when my mom went 18th Amendment on the games recently, I've been forced to temporarily partition my love for GTA into that of Cars and that of Violence, both sated with copious amounts of RPing. THIS is where I placate the Violence, and is actually part of the reason my RP posts, while taking so long to make, also end up more...shall we call it, substantial than normal.

San Andreas for me. There's so much you can do. Tommy Vercetti is a cool character, but CJ is far more noble.

San Andreas is probably my favorite PS2 game ever. The vast world and emmense number of things to do lets you do something fun and different for months without having to even accomplish any tasks.
I haven't had the money to get VCS yet. I hear it's good.

San Andreas definately beats the others hands down in terms of sheer scope. It's friggin' huge - I wonder just how big GTA 4's going to be when it's out late next year. An entire country, perhaps? ;D

Ideally, you should get the "Real Trilogy" (III, Vice City and San Andreas). They all have cool little things like on the radio that link with one another. If it absolutely has to be one game and one alone, then get San Andreas.
Unless you're under 18. In that case, get Animaniacs.

If you're under 18 but older than 13, get Bully. XD

I love them all, but I adore Vice City to no end, Tommy rules, as does the music on that game, it rocks.

Yeah. The radio stations of VC are the best of the trilogy. It pretty much sums up my four-word summary of the 80's: [spoil]Looked awful, sounded great![/spoil]
"You need a nanny!"
