Things were pleasant in Radiator Springs. There were autumn colors all around and the children loved to play in the leaf piles. One fine autumn day, Ebony was in in charge of watching the children, including her own, as they played in the park that was situated behind the Cozy Cone, staying in the shade to keep herself from overheating.
Nothing particularly extreme was going on, except for one of the children having a tantrum, but she settled it without much incident. They were actually minding her and not giving her any problems for once. It was, all and all, a perfectly normal day for her and it didn't matter if it was close to Halloween, either.
Let the children have their fun... she thought as she watched them play, They're only going to be this young just once...

"They keeping you on your treads Ebs?" Phoenix asked tiredly as she pulled up wearing a harness.

"No, not that much anymore," Ebony shook her front, "They mind me pretty well now. No problems except for a few tantrums I've had to settle."

"Thats a relief," Phoenix said as she settled down next to her. A pair of blue eyes like her father's peered over the edge of the basket and chirped up at her aunt.

Ebony glanced over at the chirp and smiled. "Is that little Sheila? Finally decided to bring her outside?"

"Hmhm," Phoenix nodded. "She's been keeping her daddy up so I figured she should come out before it gets to cold."

"Good thing too," nodded Ebony, dangling her antenna in front of Sheila, "There's so much to explore out here."

"Yeah I know," Phoenix said wiggling out of the harness and gently setting the basket down on the ground so the little violet Vipes Am could creep around for a bit.
(((And I gotta go to work please puppet.)))

Ebony watched as Sheila crept out of her basket and creep about the area of the park, always keeping a close eye on the children playing nearby.
Suddenly, she heard something or someone whispering to her but she couldn't make out the words. They were all too jumbled for her to understand and she just thought that it was her imagination.
I'm probably tired, she thought, I guess I'm just hearing things.
The Viper shook off the "imagined" whisperings and went back to watching the children play.

"Howdy, y'all." The familiar voice of Lisa then said, as she rolled over the hill the two and parked next to Ebony. "...I'm still kinda new about these parts, but I do love tractor tippin' with Mater...". She then gave the equivalent of a blush and then chuckled slightly. "...did...I say that out loud?"

"Yeah, but that really doesn't matter to us," replied Ebony.
Phoenix, still a bit tired, watched as her infant daughter crept about, inspecting Ebony, who made very little movements so as to not startle her niece.
There it was again. The whisperings. She was pretty sure that she was still just imagining things and put it in the back of her mind at the moment.

"What is it?" Lisa said, glancing at Ebony slightly, as her concern for her friend was then evident, and her southern drawl was then heard.

"It's just... well, it's nothing really," Ebony said, "My imagination is running wild on me. Maybe I've just been a little overtired and overworked lately."

"Like what?" Lisa said, lowering her eyes as she then glanced at her friend. "...some spooky ghost or something? It's not the bulldozer is it?! Because if it is, I'm putting myself in drive and fleeing down Route 66!"

"No no, it's not that," Ebony shook her front, "It's just that... I hear these whisperings from something that's invisible, but I can't understand what all is being said to me. I feel like I'm imagining the whole thing."
