I'd think they can feel temperatures, but fluctuations wouldn't bother them as much. There may be some equivalent of the nervous system that gives a tactile sense. Lightning DID feel those cactus spikes, after all.

I think only parts of the body can feel stuff. Like your hair dosen't have feeling in it... Cars my have evoloved where tires and chasis has little to no feeling; while the face and lips have feeling.

I think they most certainly have feeling. Not in the tires or wheels, as far as I can tell.
But McQueen does call out "Hey hey hey! Who's touching me?!" when Guido is fixing him up. And he and Sally snuggle, and why would they snuggle if they didn't have feeling?

Also, when he's being "massaged" by the automatic brush thingies in his trailer after the first race, he's showing obvious signs of pleasure.

It would actually suck if tires and wheels had "nerves" per se. They'd always be hitting along the pavement and rocks and pebbles and the occasional sharp things.
But I do think that the Chassis and shell of the car would have something to the extent of a nervous system.

I think they can feel cold and hot.
They can also get sick, because there is the clinic and there is the scene where Sheriff mentions that the sun must be getting to Lightning when he tries to tell everyone that Doc is the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. They think he's going crazy or getting sick.

Tires, as disposable items, would not have the sensory capabilities that other parts had. Most of the tactile feedback they'd require to read road conditions would be transmitted through the suspension.

Arms are disposable if you try hard enough. :0
But nevermind that, I do agree. Do you think they'd have anything like a theoretical "dashboard" that would transmit things like speed, RPM, and if they need to change their oil?

Lightning never felt being low on gas, I think they subconsciously go by the 'feel' of the engine. When you are running on fumes, you just hear the fuel pump having problems because it is not sucking any liquid, just gas. As for why Lightning didnt feel it was because he was sure that he was filled up.
When I damaged a ligament in my knee, I knew something had gone terribly wrong, though nothing on the outside told me, just that I had the slight limp, and the pain when I had landed badly and damaged the ligament.
I think tires are like nails. You dont have any initial feeling in them, but you can feel the slight pressure when something is touching it. I would guess the undercarrage and body have the most of the touch sensitivity, and the pain of breaking an axle would be equvalent of breaking a leg.
Pain is just a method for the body to tell the owner that something has gone terribly wrong.

They do feel stuff, but I don't think they're as weak as us.
And I tend to say they don't feel with their tires for the simple reason they're like shoes to me. Ever realized how Luigi's place looks like a shoe shop in the inside? Yes, McQueen blowing up a tire and then running on his rims must have hurt more or less. I wouldn't run on asphalt barefoot....

That's true. I think their tolerances to hot and cold are much higher than humans. What would seriously injure us is just an inconvenience to them.

I've done it, it hurts like mad, and driving on his rims must be like the feeling of having your fingernails ripped off.
