"Roger that, Sir."
He ordered Janet to be filled up with some extra fuel, before allowing here to take off. She attached her camera to her side and powered her rotors, going airborne within seconds and flying off in the direction the fleet had come from. It wouldn't take too long for a helicopter to travel the same distance that would take three hours for a ship.
Fletcher, meanwhile, would continue to monitor the trawlers' location until they would leave his sonar range.

The tanker was now cruising in dangerous waters because she knew that there were pirates lurking about and didn't want to run into any. But what she didn't know was that there was something following her. Something that she couldn't quite detect.
~~~~~
The trawlers retreated, but they had another trick up their smokestacks. They knew of a nearby inlet in which they could use to lure at least some of the destroyers into a situation that they couldn't get out of. And the trawlers were the only ones who knew where the mines were.
After several minutes of flying, Janet saw the tanker's massive shape a few miles ahead. She established radio contact.
"Attention incoming ship. Heavy pirate activity has been recently detected in the area, and so extreme caution is recommended. Please follow any orders given to you by Navy personnel, they are for your own safety."
As she lowered her altitude to get a better look at the tanker, one of her sensors suddenly picked up something under the water.
Hmm?
-----------------------------
Fletcher saw the trawlers disappear into the inlet, but he was unable to track them as the land surrounding the inlet blocked his sonar.
"Sir," He radioed Caleb. "The entrance to that inlet is just large enough for a vessel of my size to fit through. Should we go after them?"
(((((OOC: Heheh... For some reason, I hear the Jaws theme in my head...! XD)))))
That announcement after the appearance of Janet seemed to confirm the tanker's fears of the existence of pirates nearby. She acknowledge Janet's warning and was ready to obey any orders that the Navy at any instant.
And from beneath the waters and behind the tanker rose a periscope, which looked about its surroundings. It took a look at the tanker as well. But what it saw within the frame of the scope was an outline of a helicopter.
Fichu! J'ai été aperçu! Plongez!* the sub thought and took himself deeper beneath the waves, hoping to get away from the helicopter.
(((((OOC: Russian: *Damn! I've been spotted! Dive!)))))
Nerina also saw the trawlers retreat and wanted to give chase, but waited for orders from Caleb.
Caleb hailed Fletcher and Nerina. "Follow'em and make sure they don't come back. But stay alert. This isn't like a training exercise in home waters."
Janet saw the signal suddenly fade. She decided to investigate.
"Please lower your speed and cut your engines." She ordered the tanker. "Stay calm until you receive further orders.
The Seahawk flew over the massive ship and stopped when her keen eyes noticed the slightly distorted water where the sub had surfaced then quickly dove.
Gotcha.
She hovered low over the spot, and began lowering a sonar into the water.
--------------------------------
"Roger that."
Fletcher powered his engines and headed straight for the inlet. As he approached the entrance, he saw that it was almost like a small lake, large enough to accomodate him and 1 or 2 other destroyers or cruisers. Even as his bow poked through the entrance, the trawlers seemed to be nowhere in sight.
The tanker did as Janet told her and lowered her speed and cut her engines as the helicopter flew over her.
Meanwhile, the sub was trying to make a quiet, and hopefully undetected getaway underneath the waves. If that helicopter spotted him, his mission would be compromised and his life at stake.
~~~~~
"Yes sir," said Nerina.
She followed Fletcher to the inlet and peered in. The space between looked narrow, but there might be just enough room for her and Fletcher.
But where were the trawlers?

Janet activated the sonar as it touched the water, and immediately detected a large, tube-shaped object a distance away, and moving fast.
What the hell is a sub doing just hanging out randomly here?
She cruised slowly in the direction that the submarine was moving, staying low enough for the sonar to remain in the water.
--------------------------
((I did some quick research, and the inlet that Fletcher and Nerina are entering would more accurately be described as a cove.)))
Fletcher noticed Nerina approaching from behind, and moved forward, as to not block the cove's entrance. However, he did so hastily, without taking the pre-cautions to check the area for danger.

The sub descended lower to get away from Janet's sonar. What he carried was very important equipment to the Russians and if it fell into enemy hands, it would be a disaster. He shouldn't let that happen, trying to keep his propellers as quiet as possible.
(((((OOC: For some reason, I think would be interesting to have a secret coalition in Russia that wants to bring back the old USSR and the sub is working as a spy for this group.)))))
~~~~~
Nerina had her suspicions about what the trawlers were doing in a cove. That had them trapped and easy for her and Fletcher to corner them. She followed the cruiser, not knowing about the mines at the entrance.
With the information they obtained from the shop stall proprietor, Yvonne and Elspet had departed from Djakarta, en route to the Malacca straits.
"Keep going!" the leading trawler urged his mates, "Let them follow us all the way in, and they'll get a surprise."
"And what would this be?" one of the younger ones asked.
"You'll see..."
Caleb then gave orders to send up a couple of F-35's to cover the helicopter. Claudette and her cousin, Chastity, were marshalled over to the catapults. The tendency of the latest generation of fast jets to birth three times as many females as males was quite evident on the flight deck. It was a biological insurance policy in a species where both sexes had an equal liability to risk. It had nothing to do with going to war or not. The danger was inherent in the nature of what they were.
((Three times as many females as males? Now I wish I was a jet. XD))
Fletcher's sonar picked up the trawlers a small distance ahead. He eagerly moved forward, thinking that he and Nerina were going to corner the pirates in this small space.
------------------------------------
Janet sensed the sub's signal getting smaller as it dove. Although she could easily follow him horizontally, she obviously couldn't do anything if he went to deep for her to track him. The only choice she had was to contact him.
"Attention unidentified submarine! Cease your activity immediately and identify yourself!" She radioed threatiningly. It was an empty threat, as she wasn't carrying any torpedoes.
Nerina herself thought that she and Fletcher had the trawlers cornered and followed the cruiser's lead. She saw them backing up even as she and Fletcher approached them and wondered what that was all about.
~~~~~
Instead of replying to Janet's "threat", the sub dived deeper trying reach safety undetected. He was in self-preservation mode.

Mikhail slowly came to a stop and anchored himself at the edge of the strait, just out of what he figured was an American destroyer's radar radius but well within his buddies' striking range.
"Reports say there are quite a few American big guns in the area, but their targets might be easy to pick out. What's the plan?"

((Sorry for teh lateness...had a bunch of internet problems today.))
Janet tried to dip the sonar even deeper and changed her position to try and keep the sub in range...but it was useless, its signal was constantly growing smaller and less clear.
She then detected the two jet coming from the fleet's direction, and immediately identified them.
"Good to see you here." She contacted them. "I've detected an unidentified submarine right under my current position...it fled at the sight of me, and it wouldn't respond to any warnings."
------------------------------
"I don't know...you're the one who brought us out here." Tanya replied, giving a puzzled look to Alek.
((I'll have to agree with Tanya...I'm not sure what to do with the jets.))

<<< They could play tag with my F-35's, LOL>>>
The F-35's alerted as they detected another large vessel coming in... one with the radar profile of an aircraft carrier. "There's an AC coming in from the northeast." Claudette called back. Like all their kind, she and her cousin were swift and stealthy, but also quite young and wet behind the wings.
"Check it out." their section chief radioed back.
"Come here, little chickens..." the lead trawler whispered to himself. "Come get some."
He and the others continued to retreat, hoping that these destroyers were young and stupid.
