Fletcher stopped firing...seeing the trawlers not responding to his fire made him think that maybe they wanted to be attacked, for some reason or another, and he paused to see how they would react to a sudden stop to the action.

Nerina was watching this too. What were they up to? She vowed to herself that she wasn't going to fall for any of their tricks as they were trying to goad her on. Not working, guys.

Pleased with the results of his first pass, Tobias turned and had another go at them. The trawlers had decided that they didn't want to tangle with a crazy jet and began to retreat, as they had lost some of their weapons and weren't in any shape to engage a whole fleet.

"We probably won't be fighting them head on if we play this right," Alek replied. "Maybe we'll be able to get something out of either end."

Fletcher noticed that the trawlers were retreating after the initial bombardment and Tobias' crazy moves.
Looks like they aren't as suicidal as I first thought after all...
He didn't give chase, but he continued tracking them with his many sensors as well as his own eyes. They chose to play rough, and now he wasn't going to let them go that easily.

Ivan's features relaxed, as he remembered that this wouldn't be the first time they were outnumbered and outgunned.
"I guess..." He replied. "But still, we shouldn't take this enemy lightly. They may be supressed by all their protocols and politics, but once they get going, I don't want to be in their way."

Alek felt a little seasick as Mikhail's engines rumbled to life and away from these desert islands. "You know these Americans...they only know one direction...straight ahead."
((Timejump on our comrades needed?))

Nerina watched the trawlers retreat and sneered in their direction. To think that they actually had to target her for the reason that she was a female. Some men were just total chauvenists and she hated that.
With any luck, she hoped that she didn't have to deal with them again before she and the fleet reached their destination.
~~~~~
The oil tanker was plodding along quietly and uneasily, still looking out with her radar, as she herself neared the Straits about 3 hours after the US fleet. She knew that there were pirates lurking in this area and that she might become a target if any of them spotted her. She wasn't able to defend herself if she were attacked as she was an unarmed merchantman. All she would be able to do was send out an SOS to any ship that was in the vicinty of the signal range and hope that help would arrive.
But, she hoped that it would not come to that...
"Yes...so all we have to do is flank them." Ivan replied, feeling slightly queasy as the carrier began moving. Tanya on the other hand was completely unphased, her age and experience showing.
((Yeah, a timejump sounds good.))
((Right now, me and T-89's Russian characters don't have anything planned for your tanker character's encounter, if that's what you mean. To be honest, I'm not sure what to do with them. n.=.n;;;; )
Tobias grinned again and slowed his flight just long enough to blow a raspberry at the provocateurs. Then, he returned to Caleb's vicinity.
Caleb delivered another set of orders to Fletcher. "There's a tanker coming in three hours behind us, and there might be some trouble coming her way. Send your helicopter over just in case."
