Do not be fooled of the camera setup which in description is like from the Blair Witch Project, but visually it is made of win. The movie itself is victorious. Do not be fooled of a story which seems to either be from Surface or Godzilla (American), because you get what is delivered, and it is delivered in such a way that saying it would be spoiling.
While I do enjoy getting spoilers, I do not enjoy giving them, so real post about it will be after two-three days, when you guys in America get to see a movie I got to see a day before you. And the price for that was about 40% more than norm, and get padded down for camera or cellphone (left mine in the car).
Cloverfield is worth it. So much worth it.

Is it really that good?
The moment I saw the image of the destroyed statue of liberty, which has become such a cliche, I assumed the movie was just going to be another generic "OH MY GOD WHAT IS IT RUN?!" alien movie.
I've been seeing reviews both good and bad for it, but the whole statue of liberty thing is the final straw that's making me want to wait until it comes out on DVD... so I can download it. I would be willing to see it if a lot of people said it was good, because I love alien movies and there hasn't been a good one in years.

Most "OH GOD RUN!" movies have this little lull that lasts more than 20 minutes filled with sappy love and something that resembles character development.
I think the biggest lull was 4 minutes, except the beginning.

I'm looking forward to it, but I've heard rumors of a story element involving "Slusho" which sounds like it could ruin the movie. Could you give me a simple "yes or no" answer to confirm or deny this?

Slusho was just a viral site which had hidden stills from the movie or referred to a site which had hidden stills.
I didn't see much 'splicing new exciting flavors!' in the movie. This is kind of 'oh god run!' movie with camerawork like Blair Witch. The guy behind it decided to keep the camera running to document how it went for them. So there isn't much scientific mumbo jumbo in it, or just none at all.
There is few 'holy Sh*t what was that?!' stuff put in for a shocker to keep your adrenaline running, but no one stops to explain it for the main characters or the audience.

It's been described as a monster movie for the Facebook generation, and appropriately the characters are hip in a shallow kind of way.

It's coming out on Wednesday here, and for some reason I confused the stand-up poster with I Am Legend.
