No I don't. How about it starting sometime after where the humans are all at the point of wanting to go take a look outside and then the clan leader stops them and shows them the device? And that's when the device activates and pulls them through to the Carsverse.

That would be reasonable.

You sure that they wouldn't bring cars or other automobiles with them? Such as small aircraft. Makes post-eruption searching much faster. I am just kinda attached to one character who owns quite modified jeep or discovery for serious offroad action.
Rainbow Six post-epidemic plan involved two-three Boing 474. The terrorists, bunch of greenies to boot, developed a virus to vipe out human kind, saving select few 'chosen'.

They'd all be a little bit irritable at being cooped up for so long too.
Uh... I'm not too good at intros. Can you do it? ^^;;

They might have a few ultralight aircraft or ATV's/dirt bikes packed away, but the emphasis is on animals because they can breed. That doesn't stop someone from bringing something in, though. Most large vehicles would have been left outside (and left behind) when the transference took place.
As for the intro, I'll do it tomorrow. I have to get a comic page ready by 3AM.

I want to give any potentional sentient car a shock seeing something stepping out from behind from where the eyes are usually, and the 'car' is basically a golem.

Wouldn't seeing a un-Carsified jeep in their world cause the vehicular inhabitants to panic? Like, "OMG! They killed that poor dude and are controlling his dead body! RUN!"
It's something that I'm a little bit iffy about.

It would be a nice plot for starters. I would personally freak out seeing a sentient car. When thinking about it, sentient cars would not be able to read our expressions, and dont even know what the heck we are, and whatever slightest touch they do can seriously injure us.

That's true. It would be a nice First Contact plot, which would help build the characters, both human and vehicle, to a point where they want to understand what the other is and what they're like.

I would have it so that the people in the "radio shack" (communications) would see their contacts in other parts of the world wink out one by one as the disaster spreads, including TV channels, and then, when the transference is done, they get flooded with TV/radio transmissions, and then they discover what kind of a world they're in now.
But... some facial expressions would be similar, though body language beyond the face might pose translation problems.

Imagen growing up reading the newspaper every day, and one day, out of the blue, it has shrunk to a A6 size, and fonts shrinking also Everything smaller.
Does pose a problem, right?

You mean as the disaster spreads or when the device is activated? Wouldn't something electo-magnetic have something to do with the transfer?
And First Contact is never easy to understand at first. That would take a bit of time.

The death and destruction would be continent-wide, and the environmental effects would be global in scope. It would be too frightening just to stick one's head out, especially if they are in the western or mountain region - the particulates in the air would be like powdered glass in the lungs. Over the weeks after the blowup, they would be communicating with amateur radio people and seeing their outside contacts drop off the radar one by one. They would see TV/radio stations and networks unable to keep broadcasting. They would see the devastation through their own eyes if they have means of seeing above ground. Then, once the device is used, they start getting TV and radio signals again... of an entirely different world. What they make of it in the first few hours would be interesting to watch.

Okay, that clears up that little matter. So, I assume that the surviving humans would possibly be separated from some of their families, which would perish as the death and destruction spreads.
What happens with the radio/TV transmissions before and after the device is switched on sound pretty logical. And the humans would certainly be confused, yet curious, and want to know just what the heck is going on.

It would certainly take their minds off the grief issues for a time. Staying mentally stimulated and busy tends to help people get through a crisis.
