Phoenix laughed softly. "We'd appricate that Ebs. And I know we have some from when he was born floating around our place."

"Nix, Boost and I are Navajo-Vipers," said Ebony, "and we have a tradition to honor our dead. According to Navajo tradition, when a person is born the principle of life—breath or "wind"—is put in the body by the Holy People. At death, the "wind" emerges from the spirals of the treads and becomes a chindi, which is a ghost. Infants who die very young and the elderly who have lived a long and full life do not produce chindi.
"That aspect of a Navajo’s spirit which represents the good in his or her life may, at death, go to an afterworld, or ciditah. In a journey that take four days, the spirit of the newly dead is guided to the afterworld by deceased relatives and friends. The afterworld is really an underworld and is accessed through the "hole of emergence", the xajinai, from which the first Navajo people came forth at the beginning of time. The underworld is pretty much like the world above, and the spirits continue the activities they practiced while living.
"We honor our dead by building small monuments in their honor with items that they had used in life or had an interest in," said Ebony, "Usually, these monuments are built near trees."

"We could do that for Logan," Phoenix said. "He was half."

"Yes, and from what I learned from the old shaman during my visit to the Navajo reservation," said Ebony, "I can conduct the ceremony. But first, the preperations..."
"I can help you with that, Hon," Slaytor kisses Ebony on the fender.
"Thanks, Slate," Ebony smiled at her Mustang.

"What do we need to do and get," Phoenix asked.

"Just personal items that Logan had used, or played with while he was alive," said Ebony, "I can take care of the rest of the stuff."

Phoenix nodded and got to her tires. "All his toys are still where he left them last," she said. "I hadn't thought about moving them yet."

"It's still a little difficult to know that he's not around anymore to play with those toys, isn't it?" asked Ebony sympathetically.

Phoenix nodded. "But I guess we can't leave them out forever. Its something thats going to need to be done."

"Yes it is. But, you know," said Ebony, "some of those toys used to belong to the twins when they were Logan's age. So this affects us all, including me."

Ondine and Darcy came up to Ebony's home after the funeral. They wondered if it would be wise to see her at this time.

Ebony came over and nudged Pheonix lightly. "And I'm here for you, okay? We'll get through this together. Now, how about we go outside and face the world, hmm?"

Phoenix sighed and nodded. "No use trying to hide from it."

"Yeah," Boost said, "I also agree with Ebs. No matter how much we're going to miss Logan, we have got to move on."
He also got up and shook himself. Ebony headed toward the front door and opened it. Slaytor followed her.
