Boo groaned quietly to himself, lying flat on the ground with wheels bowed outward. His owner was preoccupied, concentrating on some squarish device that emitted blueish light from a digital screen. Something like a game of fetch would be the farthest thing from his mind right now.
The foxdog didn't understand why he couldn't go greet Amber. It had been a long time since he had seen her last. Then again, the diner seemed to be the most popular point. Most of his clashes with Hunter had occured there. Both kit and foxdog had inflicted some pretty bad bites on each other in the past, almost frequently enough to warrant opening a veterinary clinic.
Boo always had the option of retreating to the forests of Tailfin Pass. His attachment to the town was the only thing keeping him from going. As devoted as he was, he admitted to himself he missed total freedom.

"When they get older, I bet they'll behave better for Ebs or any other adult that watches them," said Boost.
~~~~~
Huntress waved back at Darcy and Johnny as she and Lyle came up to the diner.
~~~~~
Ebony was still searching for Hunter. For all she knew, he could be anywhere in the vicinity of Radiator Springs. Or outside of it. That's why she decided to go up Tailfin Pass to check to see if he wandered all the way up there. After all, Hunter still had some feralness to him.
"C'mon, Hunter, where are you, boy?" she said to herself as she tried to located the kit by his scent.

"I'm sure they will," Phoenix said. "They've probably picked up on all the excitement thats happening around town. Everyone has."

Ebony had trailed Hunter's scent which led her to an old tree stump that looked like it was hallowed out. Curious, Ebony drew closer until she was met with an irritated, growling smalltrack cat who looked about ready to rip her to shreds.
"Hunter! Cut it out, okay? It's me, Ebony," the Viper said, keeping her distance.
She heard some rustling sounds within the stump and out popped another cat of Hunter's species, but this one was a bit smaller and slender than Hunter. It was also a pearlescent in color and female. Must be Hunter's mate, thought Ebony, as she quickly clued in to what she was seeing before her. She backed up slowly.
"Okay, Hunter," she said softly, "I won't disturb you or your mate. I just wanted to know where you disappeared to and now I know. I'll be going now."
With that, Ebony got back on the road and headed back to Radiator Springs at a more leisurely pace.
~~~~~
Two more newcomers arrived later that evening. A '65 Plymouth Barracuda in rose red with black stipes and a '69 Dodge Coronet RT who was dark blue all over. This was their first time coming to Radiator Springs as they have never heard of this little town before until it appeared on the map about three years ago.
Hungry, the two pulled into Flo's and waited for one of the waitresses to come take their order.
"Looks like they are starting to up now," Phoenix grinned to Boost. "Should we go welcome them."
(((I'll introduce Vince when the others start arriving in the morning. I'm gonna be leaving soon to go to campus to take my second to last final.)))
(((((OOC: At what part of the day are we anyway?)))))
"It looks like they drove for quite awhile," observed Boost, "but it wouldn't hurt to just go over and give them the official welcome to town."
((I thought it was later in the day, toward evening hours.))
Sensing new arrivals in that innate way animals could, Boo perked up after a lengthy period of being still. He sniffed intently at the breeze, interested in the new smells, before a warning-look from Shawn dissuaded him from investigating.
The aero hybrid also smelled the strange new scents. They didn't have the distinct smell of aeros, but that didn't warrant an investigation in his mind. Besides, he was halfway asleep as it were, and any observation could wait until morning.
Boo whined, settling down again. He shuffled his wheels irritably before stilling.
(((Early evening I think, Phoenix is needing to start using others with their headlights. And would probably recognize Phoenix if any are racing fans.)))
"It wouldn't at all," Phoenix said shifting and drove over to meet the pair. "Welcome to Radiator Springs," She said.
(((((OOC: Maybe it is evening, but I just wasn't sure.)))))
Georgiana Brown, the Barracuda, and William Matthews, the Coronet RT, was relaxing in their stall, waiting for the server girl to come back with their orders.
It was then that they saw a Trans Am and a Viper come up to them.
"Hello," they both smiled, "Thank you for the welcome."
~~~~~
In the meantime, Ebony was returning to town. She stopped near the firestation for a bit to look at all the concession stands that had been set up by the townfolk.
Hope everything goes okay this week, she thought.

When Boo started and put his nose up a second time, his owner wasn't having any of it. Every little thing was setting this 'dog off. He stood up. "That's it." He gestured with his antenna. "Cage - now."
Knowing there was no arguing, Boo quickly darted for his enclosure, disappearing inside the kennel. Shawn nosed the door shut behind him, sliding the lock into place. He didn't need to deal with this.
He returned to the opposite end of the alley, the one that faced Main Street, to avoid listening to any whining. He lay back down just inside the alley walls, sighing in exasperation to himself. Something told him it wouldn't be an easy next few days, dealing with Boo's behavior.

"Your welcome and glad you could make it in," Phoenix said with a nod of her front. "I'm Phoenix StreamLiner and I'll be helping out. If you need anything or where to go just ask."

"Thank you," said William, "We hope we'll get to enjoy this week. I'm William Matthews and this is my friend, Georgiana Brown."
"I'm Boost," said the Viper, "Pleased to meet you."
~~~~~
Ebony was slowly rolling down Main Street toward the diner, passing by Shawn's alley. She didn't say anything to the areo-hybrid, but knew he was there by scent. How he handled Boo, she didn't care at the moment, but at least the yapping had stopped for the evening. She had come to accept his way of handling Boo as an everyday occurance.
It was either that, or that she was tired and needed to sleep as she had to be refreshed for her first shift.
From his place in the shadows, Shawn watched as Ebony cruised by, and made no effort to flag her down. Overall, the town's residents had learned to leave him alone, except for the times when he actively seeked temporary employment. There was no one here he would easily call a friend. Acquaintance was the word he liked using.
He saw nothing wrong with it. He was a mostly benign element that happened to come to Radiator Springs maybe two to three times a year. The only certain things anyone could probably say was that he was a good worker, and that he kept to himself whenever he wasn't fulfilling that clause. For all he knew, that was where he was expected to stay.
To most people, regular visitors, Radiator Springs could be called a second home.
The aero hybrid willed himself to relax, ignoring the occasional whimper from Boo that drifted from the back of the shop. Closing his eyes, Shawn silently reminded himself he wasn't "most people".
"You guys know where you are staying while you are here," Phoenix said. "I think most of the rooms are booked, but Tent City is open for you to camp out in."
(((I wouldn't mind, but I'm gonna be heading off a final soon and go to work for a while, apparently the ladder at my work is out to get the workers.)))
