For most of us, this was probably the first question we asked ourselves after we watched the movie for the first time, and there was a thread over at CFU about this that had gained several pages before that place went down. So I'm surprised that it took this long for this thread to appear here. Anyways, as the title suggests, if you were a character in the Cars world, what kind of car would you be? I think I'd either be a Lexus LS400: Or a Benz S-Class custom station wagon: Luxury cars and station wagons may seem like weird choices, but I think they fit my personality better. I like sport cars and racing machines as much as the next guy, but I can't really relate to them.

Lada Sport! Or Lada Niva as you call it. It was the first jeep our family got, and it had gone to several places only accessible to jeeps. During one of our trips, to well known place, we almost got stuck in a 4x4 river (river that can be crossed only to four wheel drive cars), but we made it without an assistance. There was a tourist group, japanese, all who took pictures of the Lada Sport. I don't think they believed their own eyes. Sadly, the car got too old, and had to be scrapped. We got then a Land Rover Discovery, which found it's way down to a bottom of the lake, but no one died, not even the car. I see it perhaps twice-three times a year, we sold it while it was on the bottom of the lake. I still love the Lada Sport. It will always have a special place in my heart.

I don't think the character's nationality has to match the car's...after all, in the movie, Sally and Fillmore are German-made yet their characters are American. And if you count the celebrity cameos, Schumacher is a German character being portrayed by an Italian car, while Arnold is an Austrian-born character being portrayed by an American car.
And if that rule existed, what would happen to those of us who are from countries that don't make cars(although RUF, the Porsche tuning company, is building a factory here in Bahrain)?
Oh, and that Ariel Atom would be a bit difficult to fit into the Carsverse.

well, sure, but... meh... dunno... i dunno really how it'd be worked generally... i mean for some it's easy - Like Arnie... I mean what else COULD he have been?
also, RUF aren't a Porsche Tuning company. their cars are technically their own, and not Porsches at-all. and to explain... depending which you mean... Kapricia, I dunno... heh... certainly meant no offence. as for my list? well... I would be a british car. just would.

Oh hmm, that is not that easy to say. I mean there are two different cases, the car I would like to be or the car I would be. I would not say that Germans only would be German cars, I think other criterions would make it clearer or easier to find out. The personality, the hobbies, the job etc. The outcome would fit more to everybody's life situation but I think I would not really like the car I would be then, so I prefer the version "... the car I would like to be..." ;D Oh and because it got mentioned, Austrian cars exist. Puch and Steyr. But I don't think that some of them would have fit to Arnold. There is just one older Puch SUV type, you see them still but they are getting more rare. ( www.ggwc.at/Fahrzeuge/G/Bilder/Ranner300GD1_jpg_jpg.jpg and nope this is not a Mercedes it's the Puch G 300, it is not completely the same like the Merc G 300, Puch just bought the license for the body and a few other parts and built the Puch G 300 then. It is the same with the Puch 500 based on the Fiat 500, with the difference that the Puch 500 is really rare and that caused that it even has got an higher value than the original type from Fiat now... XD)

Arnie would still fit as a regular G-Wagen, since it's Austrian-built(and even in his hometown, Graz). And he owns one in real life.
But I think Adrian's point was that the Hummer is without a doubt his most famous car, so Pixar couldn't have possibly made him anything else even if it made more sense. Which is why I said if celebrity cameos count.
Anyways, this is becoming a "what would x be if he/she was a Cars character". We should go back on-topic.

Knowing me, I'd probably end up being a GEO (or, as my classmates called them, "rolling deathtraps"). Maybe a Storm variety.

Bugatti Veyron, eh? Fastest production car in the world...and also infamous for having more radiators than Jeremy Clarkson's house.
As for the whole "Car I would be vs. Car I would like to be" thing...it's a mix of both for me, actually. I come from a rich(not filthy rich, but pretty well-off) family that actually owns a few Lexuses and Mercs...and as a result, I've developed an attraction to them.

I see myself as a Volkswagen Beetle, the newer version. I'll be either blue or silver.
