Just a thought, regarding the "high-end" marques of certain car companies. In the carsverse, these could come about through special selective breeding to create a "superior" car that is still of "pure" blood. So Lexuses would be specially bred Toyotas, Maybachs would be specially bred Mercs, etc.

hehehe *dirty thought* maybe the racecars, being high performance, are only allowed to [insert rudeness] high performance females and the babies are checked over to see if they could become racers.

I don't think it would be required for racecars to breed with fast females(Remember, The King's wife is a station wagon...), but I guess it would yield the best results.

Now that I think of it, there are a few real-life cars which could be the product of "mixing" in the Carsverse.
Mercedes SLR = McLaren F1 + Mercedes SL55 AMG
Dodge Ram SRT-10 = Normal Dodge Ram + Dodge Viper(not really a mix since they're both the same make, but still...)
Audi R8 = Audi A8 + Lamborghini Gallardo
In fact, there is a lot of interchanging of individual parts between different makes and different manufacturers...few cars are truly "pure".

100% road legal, at least in the UK. Good luck translating it into the Carsverse.

I think they form like mutations in the genetic code, like human characteristics.
