okay - what about "showers"?
if you are a car in car world - would you have to go to the (public) carwash always or would you be able to take a quick shower at home?
of course, the results with the public carwash would be somehow better because of the "brushes" (at least the european ones, i haven't been to a carwash in the states yet). but for getting rid of a bit of dust, "showers" wouldn't be bad... would that be "realistic"?

Most of the carwashes I've seen in the U.S. have automatic brushes, and most move the car on a conveyor belt rather than requiring someone to drive it through. I think some cars, maybe those who are more well-off, would have carwash stalls next to their homes where we would put a garage. Cars with less money might have a carwash that's little more than a hose connected to the wall and a suds dispenser, or an overhead shower. I picture Mater having a showerhead somewhere on his property, but maybe Ramone and Flo have a carwash somewhere inside their house, probably with a toilet next to it just like we'd have our bathrooms set up. Here's a drive-thru carwash near me: grazianoconst.com/projects/other_projects/bird_bath_car_wash.htmlI don't think bathing would be as private an affair as it is for us humans because it wouldn't involve nudity. A simple undercarriage spray would take care of any dirt on the bottom of the car, so they might not have any qualms about bathing at a public wash.

I think that Cars cars would have a carwash in their dwellings. in colder climates where they use salt on the roads (like here, rawr.) the cars would have to be cleaned quite frequently especially if they were going into a heated place, the temperature changes from outside to inside and vice versa would cause a lot of corrosion. Perhaps car dwellings have a private carwash for bathing and one for getting cleaned up after coming in from outdoors/inclement weather.

I hadn't considered that, but it makes sense they'd have some way to get clean after off-roading or driving on a dusty day. I don't think they'd just want to track dirt all over their floors. In my fanfic I imagined that the dirt tracks have their own on-site carwash/shower for the competitors and another somewhere on the grounds for the vehicles that work at the track (tanker trucks that spray water on the track to keep the dust down, the judges, anyone else who works on the track itself.)

he he... in my fanfic lightning is in a training camp, and he goes to the carwash after training. of course, he enjoys being "massaged" by the brushes... i was wondering whether to leave out that scene or not, but that depends on the direction the story will take, and that can change - even last minute. according to foreignconcepts' theory, cars in europe would also have their carwashes at home - because of the wheather issue (so don't tell my car...). but since the story takes place in and around radiator springs, they'll have to do with a simple shower at home...
