They just dont like sequels...dont think they would ruin their winning streak with a dodgy sequel. But...if I find out differently, then I will pay you a $1

I was told TS3 was canned when Pixar was bought by Disney...Pixar made it clear to Disney it was complete rubbish.

But I dont keep myself completely updated...so ~shrugs~

Generally, most people find the quality of sequals to be below the original, so not many are terribly enthusiastic about it. I myself wouldn't waste time to see a second Cars movie (nor would I hesitate to buy it). Although the real trick would be coming up with a new plot.

terminator, alien, toy story, godfather, X-Men, spiderman, empire strikes back... loads fo sequels are better than the original. and its not like a cars sequel would even have to be a true sequel. just use the same world.

TS2 was brought into play from a GIANT push from Disney into Pixar's gut to do it. Plain and simple.

I am a HUGE fan...been a fan years before everyone else, so dont get me wrong....I just think sequels are always a bad idea. Rarly do I like any sequels (I DONT like TS2 much) and neither does Pixar...but sometimes push comes to a shove in the gut from Disney...even though there is a gentleman's clause between the two ~snort~

I think if anything would drive production of a sequel, it would be the record toy sales of Cars merchandise. The actual movie may not have had stellar ticket sales but the promise of selling a whole new set of diecasts to every young fan might prompt Disney to do a little more gut-pushing.

Of course, the new movie would have to show Lightning in at least four new paint jobs and covered with stuff like soap suds, dust, etc. so they can sell each child a dozen new McQueen variations like they made for this movie. XD

I hope they don't..i just feel their going to ruin it or something or "expose" some of our ideas we have so much fun on..even though you can say it wouldn't matter..hmm still..you'll have "new" fans harping on ya about your "wrong ideas" lol if they do a sequel..they best leave it as "mysterious" as the first.....now more short movies would be better.. but sequels? no..heck didn't disney come out with a cinderalla 3? or was that the little mermiad? lol..disney is lazy and seems to have run outta ideas...and just forcing sequels on everything..
i bet Walt is setting a curse on disney at this very moment lol...

I agree. And there are also bad sequels, like Lion King 2 and 3 (which were far worse than the first one) and Toy Story 2 (never liked that sequel BTW). I thought the sequel to the Little Mermaid was okay, but mediocre at best (although Melody was a good character; she was Ariel's daughter; and there was Ursula's sister, I forgot her name), but the sequel to Cinderella were terrible. They detracted from an age-old classic fairy tale which should've been better off left alone.

There are times when some sequels to some movies are bad and not worth watching, or even making in some cases (I heard that they were going to make a third sequel to Toy Story but they scrapped it for some reason?).

If there does happen to be a sequel to Cars, let it not be from our ideas, but I highly doubt that it's ever going to be made at all. It's been over a full year already and the fandom has grown huge with lots of new ideas and stories created by the fans themselves. Just, IDK, the original was much better and really doesn't need a sequel to continue the story.

That's just my two cents.
