My son has (ALL bought by my mother-in-law, I think she indulges the boy a wee tad bit): Pull Back Luigi and Ramone McD's Sally, Fillmore, Flo (and the cool boxes they came in) Diecasts: Lightning, King, Chick, Luigi, Guido, Mater, Boost, Wingo, Sheriff, Doc, Tractor, Snotrod, Fillmore A few toddler-sized t-shirts, jeans and underwear (when the jeans wear out, the embroidered Mater is SO gonna get cut out and put on my denim jacket) A cars logo window ornament thingy for the car A Fillmore license plate free sendaway offer from Kellogg's cereal Lightning's pit crew Halloween costume -- which is going to get worn out since he wears it constantly The widescreen DVD And Santa's going to bring: A Lightning McQueen backpack -- Payless had it for $3 after the "back to school" rush was over A Lightning jacket, size adult medium -- I kinda wanted it myself but he'll enjoy it when he's older and it'll be retro by then Kids dining set (bowl, plate and silverware) We *gasp* opened our diecasts and he played with them, even nicking the paint off them re-creating the crashes. Poor Snotrod has very little paint left on his bumper. I'm going to buy the other stuff like Fast Talkin' McQueen at yard sales this summer. I'd rather pay a buck for him than $25.

I opened all my diecasts... unless you wanna sell em right away I don't see the point keeping them in the package, you can't look at them as closely or play with them.

I open all my diecast too c: I play with them -.- Wingo is the most well loved, he has paint chips all over his front. I think it gives him character. Most of the time they sit on the shelf and look pretty. xP and yardsales... mahaha.. I love yardsales you never know what you can find XD

My theory is that toys made today aren't going to be as collectible as ones from years ago. They literally make millions of them and plenty of people are going to save them in their packaging, so it's not like you won't be able to find them on eBay 20 years from now.
I even desecrated the packaging by tearing off and discarding the plastic bubbles on the diecast cards. The cards themselves have nice art of the characters but we don't have space in our house to store every toy package.

haha thats totally opposite from me. I save every package from every toy I buy.. I have a closet full of empty pony packages. -.- ; *ish smacked for being offtopic* anyways about the diecast i see so many of them on ebay its like the only cars things i see when i search cars o.O So like there isn't a shortage.. theres like a thousand of the little buggers

Hey if there's one thing Toy Story 2 teaches ya is that Toys want to be played with and loved. Toys have no value if people can't play with them. Also more than likely the Cars toys will be over produced and given time find their way to the sales bin. Though I did buy an extra Sheriff in the new package to keep in 'cause he's my fav character!

I see absolutely no point in MISB (Mint In Sealed Box) collecting. What's the point in having a toy if you don't play with it? I've got a vintage Starscream sitting on my desk who'd be worth craploads if I'd kept him in the box, but screw that. I've got no intention of selling him. XD Anyway... "Visitors to Radiator Springs can stop at Sarge's Surplus Hut for supplies and then head next door for a taste of Fillmore's homemade organic fuel. The veteran Army Jeep and 1960 VW Bus are an odd couple but they can't live without each other."I had to share. That's from the back of the Movie Moments set for Sarge & Fillmore. That amuses me to death. Way to go, Mattel! And my current die-cast collection (yes, I count Mack). XD I'm only missing a few from the original set!

That is pretty funny that Mattel used the word "couple" on a Fillmore/Sarge toy package. ;D
I also think it's so cute that the Ramone/Flo Movie Moments set has them positioned in the box like they're kissing.
Baby Minty, I wish I would've saved the toy packages from the MLPs I had as a kid in the '80s. They had some seriously cute art and stories about the ponies on the back.

I see absolutely no point in MISB (Mint In Sealed Box) collecting. What's the point in having a toy if you don't play with it? Indeed, Chibi. Besides, it's easy enough to collect a whole set to play with, and a whole set to keep in boxes, if one is so inclined. Adorable collection you have there.
