I was thinking of not letting Delfina have a quiet pregnancy. Some stressful stuff should happen to her throughout those nine months.

Business problems can always be stressful, maybe the mountain gets flooded out because something happens to the underground river.
The inn would be out of business for probably a few months while everything is cleaned out.

Then Delfina would have to have somewhere to stay if this happens and while clean-up is in effect. Maybe she either stays with Tess's stepson and his wife on their ranch or she goes back to Vegas. I'm not sure which is better.

The lower caverns and corridors might have problems. The center court area and the other main areas are high enough that the water wouldn't bother them. It would lead to support and infrastructure problems for a few weeks, though.

Chapter 3
Now 24-weeks along, Delfina could actually feel the baby moving inside of her, but she also felt something different and unknown. She didn't know what it was and how this was going to affect her health, so she went to find Phoenix to ask for some advice.
Although the Trans Am had been in and out of the Inn throughout the few months as Delfina progressed in her pregnancy, she always tried to be around whenever the human needed to speak with her about the effects of carrying a baby and being a user. She would usually be found either in the center court with her family or in the conservatory listening to the music being played there.
It was at the conservatory where Delfina found Phoenix, resting on one of the pads as soft, instrumental music played from the speakers, preferably music by Vangelis. Gryffin and Ricardo were not there.
“Needing a little 'alone time'?” Delfina asked as she pulled up a nearby chair to sit down.
Phoenix turned and nodded to the human, “Yes, Rico's taken Gryff to his mod shop in Cortez. It's that 'Take Your Son to Work' kind of thing, I guess.”
“Kind of interesting to learn what Dad does for a living,” said Delfina, “but that leaves you alone for awhile.”
“Oh, I don't mind, really,” replied Phoenix, “It gives me more time to myself. So, what do you need, Delfina? If you need anymore advice...”
Delfina rested a hand on her still-swelling belly, “Yeah, actually I do need it. How can I tell if my baby is going to be a user or just a regular baby?”
Phoenix blinked, “Well, that's hard to say exactly. I didn't really find out that Gryffin was a user until I saw the color of his eyes. Pale blue. It's an indicator of someone in my family line that they are a user. I don't know how you'd be able to tell, but there'd definitely be an indicator somewhere in your family line.”
“Oh, I see,” Delfina nodded, “I guess I'll just find out when the baby's born.”
“Don't worry,” Phoenix assured her, “You'll know when it's time. Just enjoy your pregnancy while you're still in the middle of it.”
“Yeah,” agreed Delfina, “Although I do miss using my powers now.”
“Well, if I couldn't use mine while I was carrying Gryffin, than you should know by now that using your powers would be harmful to the baby,” explained Phoenix, “You do know what I went through, don't you?”
“I do,” said Delfina. She fell silent for bit as she sat listening to the spacey, instrumental music of Vangelis, her hands folded in her lap. The woman had taken to wearing maternity clothes made for her by the resident seamstress of the mountain inn, but preferring to wear mostly dresses as they were more comfortable than pants and shirts, although she did wear them every once in awhile when she was traveling.
Phoenix studied the woman for a bit, wondering if now would be a good time to spring the surprise, which she and everyone else had been planning on her. It was getting close to that time and the guests would already be ready for the guest-of-honor, Delfina, to arrive anyway. The Trans Am stood up on her tires.
“Hey, Delfina,” she said, “Can you come with me for a few minutes?”
“Okay,” the human stood up slowly, taking care not to stumble because of the weight of the baby made her unbalanced. Fortunately, Phoenix was there to lend her side for support.
The two made their way slowly, walking and driving, down to the center court. For some reason the lighting had been switched off, but once the two entered, they suddenly came on and Delfina was surprised that everyone that she had known for six years were all gathered there.
“Oh my,” was all she could say at the moment, a little bit overwhelmed at the turnout.
Jade and Dawn came up to help Delfina to a resting place that they had set up for her in one of the old alcoves. She recovered enough to ask what all this was all about and was told that this was her baby shower.
“I never had a baby shower before,” she exclaimed as she let herself settle into the resting place.
“Well, neither did I,” said Phoenix, “but you held one for me, so I thought it would only be right of me if I returned the favor.”
“Thanks,” smiled Delfina.
“You're welcome,” Phoenix smiled back, “but think nothing of it.”
Delfina nodded. She found that she rather enjoyed the baby shower and the games were fun and sometimes caused everyone to burst into giggles whenever someone said or did something funny. There was the old traditional game of measuring how big and round her waistline was with just a piece of rope. Dawn won that game because she got the measurement right.
There were also gifts for the mother-to-be and her unborn child. Delfina liked them all and thanked everyone for their generosity for treating her with such kindness.

Now at 32 weeks, which translated into seven months, Delfina was already pretty big. It was getting just a bit harder for her to move around, so she had to rest a lot more than usual. Jade and Melody took over the running of the Inn for her so that she wouldn't have to work as much. Nobody wanted to see her exhaust, or even stress herself out with being too active that it would negatively affect her health.
It was raining hard on that day and Delfina was resting in her room. Outside, however, the downpour began to get heavier and heavier until the mountain had all but disappeared from sight within the dense rainfall.
Soon, the water deluge began to enter the back exit. The lower levels eventually became flooded, leaving the crystal chamber, the Falls, and the chasm underwater. It then began to leak into the higher levels, but not that much. Thankfully, the center chamber was left untouched, except for the structural integrity.
For safety reasons, the Inn had to be evacuated and allow a few weeks to dry out. Delfina was just a little bit upset over the whole matter when Jade came to wake her up and alert her of the flooding that she almost went into premature labor. Fortunately, the doctor was able to calm her down enough and save her baby.
Delfina had to have some place to stay while clean-up was going on and it was a godsend that Phoenix once more offered to let her stay at the Firebird again. She took it immediately, as she knew that she would have a comfortable suite in which to rest and that Phoenix had promised her that she'd keep a human doctor handy in case Delfina went into real labor while she was staying there.

Ten weeks later, Delfina was laying in bed in her suite. She now wore a long, loose nightgown that would be comfortable enough for her huge belly. She needed to rest constantly now and did not move around as much. Her back ached terribly and she was at the moment trying to find a more comfortable area on her bed to soothe such pain.
Delfina turned when she heard her door open.
“It's just me,” Phoenix said gently as she pulled inside, “Is your back aching again?”
“Yeah...” nodded Delfina, “It aches badly...”
“Well,” replied Delfina, “Turn around. I can soothe it for you.”
Delfina, with much effort, turned herself around so that her back was facing the Trans Am, who then lightly pressed her antenna against her back. After awhile, the pain in her back ebbed away and she felt much better.
“Thanks, Phoenix,” said Delfina, “I – oh!”
Her hand suddenly went to her belly, clutching it tightly. She groaned as a contraction rippled across her belly.
“What is it?” asked Phoenix, suddenly concerned for the human.
“It's...” Delfina gasped, “The baby... I think it's coming...”
Phoenix immediately called up the human doctor, who came at once to Delfina's suite to assist her in delivering her baby. The Trans Am remained close by, giving the human encouragement as each contraction passed through.
“You're doing good,” the doctor told the panting, sweating woman, “Just one more push...”
Delfina screamed as she pushed as hard as she could, as it hurt so badly. She stopped to catch her breath, and then continued on. Eventually, she felt something leave her body and she lay there exhausted and weak, but okay.
The doctor cleaned the baby off with a towel, rubbing it until it produced a hearty wail, and then handed it to its mother, who took it gratefully in her arms.
“It's a girl,” the doctor told Delfina.
Delfina smiled as she looked upon her daughter.
“Congratulations, Delfina,” Phoenix told her proudly, “You're a mom.”
“Thanks...” Delfina smiled faintly, feeling so tired all of a sudden, “And you're an aunt...”
“Yeah, I guess I am,” Phoenix smiled back at her soul sister, “I'll let you and your daughter get acquainted now and then get some rest. You deserve it.”
“Okay...” Delfina held her daughter against her chest, letting the infant girl suckle on her teat to fill her stomach.
Phoenix nodded and rolled out of Delfina's suite, with the doctor following. This left Delfina alone with the infant.
Delfina looked down at the suckling infant, “You're really hungry, aren't you...? Well, you can have as much as you want, because I'm not going to be able to get up for awhile yet...”
Soon, she fell asleep, with her daughter against her.
