All these suggestions sound fine to me.

Allrightie... I found that I couldn't really do much with categories, but I can add and subtract boards. I won't do anything drastic until the consultation period is up or I hear back from Chibi, whichever comes first, but I added a "PG-13" zone in the fanfiction section. I will also be reviewing the rules, and proposing revisions in this thread.

I have another suggestion for the roleplay issue.
What about the Roleplay - 1954 board? It hasn't been used at all and I don't think it's very useful anyway. There are a lot of restrictions of what people could do there and what characters they could use too. It's just not working.
I just think it's better to just entirely do away with it, IMHO, but that's just me.

OK, I'll take all of that into consideration.... WHEN I get back home. I'm posting this from a friend's laptop on a very flaky wireless connection, so I can't do much at present. Once I'm back, I'll work on folding all the unused areas into the "World" section and that will cover other places and other times.

I'm back home again, as of tonight. Before anything drastic is done with the boards, I'll let the consultation period run its course so that everyone gets a say. Over the weekend, I was in Saint John for a craft show, doing face sketches and stuff.

OK... proposed rule revisions here stuff. Modified sections are in bold.
# No explicit sexual content, or extended scenes of torture or mutilation.
# Nothing above PG13. R is permissible, only if there is a good, solid reasoning. Excessive cursing is frowned upon. If your fanfic goes a little too far over those limits put it in the password-protected members only section. PM the mods for details of that.
# If you are writing a series, keep that series in one thread.
# Do not usurp another member's thread.
# No flaming. Constructive criticism is welcome, but please don't be mean. If you don't like a story, just don't comment.
For general rules:
# Keep cursing to a minimum. We will turn off the profanity filter again, but that does not a cursing zone make. Please watch your language. If someone is abusing this, you'll be warned and then tempbanned.
# Respect the views of your fellow board members. Not everyone may have the same opinion of a character as you. If you disagree, please make sure a debate remains friendly. After all, debate teams often sit on opposite sides in school groups and still remain friends.
# Trolls will be eliminated on sight. So will anyone who engages in sockpuppeting, identity theft, fraud, attempts at hacking this board or others, or who makes threats against anyone else.
# Show respect for other companies, too. This board may be dedicated to Cars, but it is not to turn into a massive flaming of Dreamworks or other animaton companies.
# If you're 'shipping any pairing in particular in your fanfics, please indicate so in your title, because not everyone may care for your "ideal couple".
# Each section has a few rules specified just for it. Please read each set if you intend on remaining in that area heavily.
# Don't start a grudge just because a person doesn't agree with you. This DOES NOT MEAN you can't debate a topic. What it DOES mean is that it's not polite to hate someone because they like someone better than you, or may not agree on this that or the other. Debates are welcome and encouraged.
# If you're having problems in RL, don't take it out on the folks on the board. We understand your need to vent, but we do not want to see full-out fights erupt. This doesn't mean you can't talk about it, but try not to be rude if someone's having a bad day.
# Mind the size of your sig. Some people have slower connections, and images that're bigger than the vertical resolution of the screen sort of kill it, especially if you're viewing a fanart thread anyway. Try to keep it to where it would, vertically, fit in this box, and horizontally, so it doesn't scroll off the screen. You won't be banned if you don't comply, but seriously... common courtesy.
# Call a buddy, bring a friend. It's always nice to have new folks around.
# And lastly, have fun.

This is probably stupid coming from me, but.... A comment I have is: For the rule about no explicit sexual, prolonged mutilation/torture, I hope the fanfiction rules doesn't apply to me, because I mostly like to write Gothic Fiction, which is somewhere between depressing, dark, death, decay. That sort of thing. And a question I have: Is keeping a fanfiction series in one thread really necessary? I mean, how can you (or anyone else know) when the series is updated?

And a question I have: Is keeping a fanfiction series in one thread really necessary? I mean, how can you (or anyone else know) when the series is updated? When there is a new post? Yeah. Do you realize how many pages in one thread there are because the series had not been allowed to be in a new thread that was separate from the original? Look how many pages that my first fanfic series, "Five Years in the Future" had. It was hard enough to whenever I had a new chapter, I'd have to click on the last page of that thread, scroll down, and post a new reply. That was irritating and it was a bit difficult to get people to notice that there was a new chapter. I don't think clustering a series in one thread is a good idea, IMHO.

OK... That thing about prolonged torture might need to be clarified a bit. To elaborate, I would draw the line at dismemberment or extended graphic depictions of torture. Ebony, nothing you wrote here even approaches THAT point. I'm talking about Saw II level gross.
And I can modify the "one thread" rule for chapters.

OK, I've noted that a bit more than two weeks have passed, so I have made the modifications. If you have friends on other boards, feel free to pass the word.

I know I'm never on here, but guess what? There is a reason for that. The RP style is completely off for me. It should be set up like this site: canineroleplay.proboards57.com/index.cgiAt least, in my opinion, rather than having everybodyinathreadallatonceohgod. That just makes for confusion. You might have to make an account if you want to see the setup of the board and how people RP there, by the way, but it's not that hard, and if you want I'll make a spare account for you guys to check it out on. :] -trots off-
