Just throwing another idea out, and when I say Avatar I mean Mr. Cameron's masterpiece. As for what it would entail, that's up for discussion. It could be your standard cast of na'vi and humans. Or from the point of view of Pandora's wildlife. We shall see. But first things first: anyone interested?

I'd definitely be up for it; Avatar ranks up there with the Cars movies on my list of favorites. Do you have any plot ideas?

My thinking was it could take place before or after the film, depending on what majority of characters we decide to focus on: na'vi or human. Were it to take place before we can open the possibility for avatar drivers, too. Do you have any initial thoughts as to who you'd like to portray?

I, personally, would rather focus on the Na'vi, perhaps including clans other than the Omaticaya. As to the timing, I think before and after the film both hold potential. I'm pretty sure some avatar drivers remained on Pandora after the last of the humans were being sent off-moon, since IIRC Norm is in his avatar at the very end, so drivers could be present in either setting. I'm actually about to pop the extended version dvds in and give the movie another viewing, that might give me some more ideas!

I've been doing the same the last few days. I also think the focus should be on the na'vi, but to take time to explore other clans. The Omiticaya are fairly well established, but Jake states at one point in the movie there are at least 15 tribes in all. My own na'vi character is intended to be formerly of the Ikran People of the Eastern Sea. Avatar drivers could figure into whatever story we come up with, before or after the film. At the end I count at least three or four besides Norm, who is actually there in human form. I don't mind writing the opening post vague enough so that anyone who wants to may join. I just need to know what context you would prefer it to be: pre or post human exodus?

I think post-exodus would give the widest options, especially where the interactions of human drivers and members of other clans are concerned, but that's just me.
And thanks for setting me straight on Norm ;D. I went to pop the DVD into my Wii the other night, having forgotten the futility of that (I watch a lot of Netflix) and now am hunting up all the bits and parts to my ancient PS2 in order to watch the film on a platform other than my laptop. So I'm still a little rusty detail-wise...

james-camerons-avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Avatar_WikiThis Avatar-centric Wiki has been of help to me. For easy accessibility I was thinking of keeping things generic to a point. Depending on where the story goes, we can choose how detailed it gets as we go along. That said I'll get to work on the introduction now.

Certainly you may join. The more input, the richer the story's potential.
I was thinking, in this case, let's forgo the idea of posting profiles here. Introducing our characters as we progress could prove more interesting.
The introduction I may post today or tomorrow. It's taking a little thought to downsize the world so that we may integrate our characters naturally.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Haven't forgotten this, but this is my last year of undergrad studies (I'm a Horticulture major) and it's whipping me soundly! I was also wondering if Ebony was going to post, since I reminded her of this a few days ago.
Anyway, I meant to ask, have you found any resources that deal with different social classes of Na'vi and their attire? Neither the wiki or my Activists' Survival Guide have been of much help. I've gotten all caught up in making my OC with the same creator you two used; I've got a young healer in mind, probably a male since Ebony said her OC was another female. I sort of want to post a pic before I write content, but I want that image to be as accurate to the canon as possible.

No problem. I know what pains RL can throw in the way of online activities. I haven't heard anything. Ebony, if you're reading this, you're still welcome to join. From what I understand, little has been officially touched on as far as social classes go. I imagine each na'vi clan has its ranks and divisions, probably according to function: hunters, gatherers, healers, politicians, warriors and so on. Any individual's attire would probably closely correspond with the nature of their trade. My OC Ney'ite, for example, often acts as a hunter in her particular clan. Therefore I gave her a sparse, form-fitting outfit that I imagine she would wear most of the time. By comparison, I've created an older sister of hers, Ikariyu, a gatherer who specializes in weaving. As such, her clothing is slightly more ornamental in design. Additional outfits that are needed, we may design and describe as we come to need them. We can reference the movie or other sources as best as we can, but I imagine there may be a fair amount of educated guessing to do.
