I decided to post a story I'm writing based on an RP. It's still currently in progress.
Swept Away - Blood Ties

Chapter 1
Delfina was in the kitchen fixing dinner for her family, at least what was left of it. Her husband, Aron, had since disappeared about a year ago and no know still does not know how that happened. She had been told that he had died while he was visiting the humanverse.
It was a hard blow for her to hear such devastating news, but she had managed to keep from breaking down. For the sake of her daughter and her grandchildren, she needed to carry on with her life. She had, after all, made great memories with Aron while the two were married for the last 20 years.
Too bad he had to miss his daughter's wedding. If only he had been there to walk Stephanie down the aisle to the alter (which was held outside) so that she could marry Gryffin. Of course, Gryffin was a Carsverse native, or more specifically an unusually large Ford Mustang. Their marriage had turned out to be controversial in some elite circles and not to mention scandalizing to the family. Reporters would follow Stephanie and Gryffin everywhere. Delfina had to listen to her daughter complain about it to her once during a visit.
Now, Stephanie was coming to visit with Gryffin and their twins, Willow and Matthias, who were already about 4 1/2 years old and already talking. Hence why Delfina was in the kitchen of her home cooking dinner. She loved it when her daughter's family came over as that would always give her a chance to dote on her grandchildren, even though they were mixed species that, according to the rest of the world, were impossible.
But Stephanie was a shapeshifter like her mother, so had been able to bring the twins to full term and give birth to them. Of course, it also helped that Stephanie was in her car form, which made the whole process possible and easier to cope with, although she still needed constant care from the CV doctor because this was her first experience being stuck in that form for the entire term. At least she had her family beside her so that she wouldn't go through it alone.
Delfina brought her head up, snapping herself out her memories, as she heard the front door opening and the laughter of two children as they raced inside. She knew that Stephanie's family had arrived finally.
"Guys, don't race in the house," Stephanie called to her twins, "Turn off your engines and switch to Neutral."
"Yes, Mommy," Willow and Matthias dutifully complied with their mother's wishes. They remembered from what their parents told them that the fumes from their engines were poison to their mother, grandfather, and all other humans when they were around them.
Stephanie shifted from her car form to her human form and went into the kitchen where Delfina was to greet her. Willow and Matthias followed her.
"Hi, Mom," Stephanie said, wrapping her arms around Delfina's shoulders and giving the older woman a hug, "How are you?"
"Hewwo, Gramma," said the twins as they coasted in.
Delfina knelt down to greet them, "Hello, you two. It's good to see you guys."
"Look, Gramma, I'm getting better," said Willow as she shifted into a the form of a human girl with burnt sienna colored hair and light blue eyes, "Mamma and Papa say so."
"I can see that," smiled Delfina as she gave the girl a hug, causing her to giggle, "You're just like you're mother."
"Do you need help setting up, Mom?" asked Stephanie after she had sent her children outside to be with their father.
"Yeah, can you get the potato salad there?" Delfina pointed to a large bowl on the counter, "And take it out to the backyard? I'll get the rest."
Stephanie picked up the bowl and took it out to the backyard -- a place where she had spent many of her childhood moments -- where there was a low Japanese-style table and cushions strewn all around. It was like that in order to accommodate Stephanie's husband or any other CV visitors. A small six-pack of assorted flavored fuels for Gryffin and the twins was already there.
All humans have learned to quickly adopt that style of hosting any native CV visitors, starting with Phoenix and Ebony, Gryffin's late mother and still-living aunt. It soon became a normal routine.
As the mixed-species family settled down for lunch, Stephanie brought up the current topic of conversation, "So, Mom, do you have any idea about what's in that journal that the relic-hunters found and who it belonged to yet?"
Delfina shook her head and swallowed her food, "No, the handwriting's too faded to really read what's on there and I have no idea what the entries are talking about. It's too old to know who it belonged to either."
"There might be a spell that would bring those words to a much clearer, readable light," offered Gryffin as he took a sip of his fuel and making sure that Willow and Matthias drank theirs as well.
"A generous offer, Gryff," Delfina said, "but I don't want to rely too much on magic."
"C'mon, Mom," Stephanie implored, "Let him try."
"I don't know..." Delfina was uncertain for a moment, mulling over Gryffin's offer. She really did want to know what the words in the journal said and who owned it.
"It'll be much more quicker than sending it away to those people who specialize in such a profession, whom I have the greatest respect for," Gryffin explained, "but if you let me do it, I get you results in mere seconds. Besides, there might be some information in there that should remain private."
Delfina bit her lip for a moment, still uncertain, although she began to agree that Gryffin had a point.
She sighed, giving in, "Alright, you can take a look at it, Gryff. Do you know the spell?"
Gryffin nodded, "Yes, but I also have the spellbook too. I always want to be sure I cast it correctly."
"That sounds reasonable," said Delfina as she started to get up, "I'll go get the journal."
"Let's wait until after lunch and while the twins are distracted," cautioned Stephanie, taking hold of Delfina's sleeve and pulling her back down.
"Okay," agreed Delfina.

It was a good thing that Ebony was willing to watch Willow and Matthias while their parents dealt with deciphering the contents of the journal. Stephanie and Gryffin had gone into Ash Mountain with Delfina, both curious about what they might find in the journal as well.
The three were in the Center Court (a kind of park that looks like a miniature of New York's Central Park, only inside a mountain), where Delfina and Stephanie sat on a bench and Gryffin was resting his large frame on the grass beside them. Delfina had let Gryffin try to read the journal.
Gryffin tried his best to decipher without magic, but couldn't read the words since they did indeed look faded, even with the heightened vision he had inherited from his tuner father. Even if he squinted, it still didn't help make the words readable.
"Yeah..." the Mustang said, giving the journal back to Delfina, "I see what you mean, Aunt Del. I can't make out the words. They're too faded, but it looks like they are in cursive."
"I noticed that too," agreed Stephanie, giving a nod in her husband's direction.
"So, do you think that that spell you mentioned would help make everything clearer?" asked Delfina.
Gryffin had already gotten out the spellbook that he always carried with him and was flipping through the pages, looking for the appropriate spell. He grinned when he found it.
"Yes, I'm about to cast it now," the Mustang replied, flexing his antenna in preparation, "Aunt Del, I need you to put the journal down on the bench there, have it open to the first page and step back." He looked at Stephanie and gestured at her, "You too, Steph."
Delfina did as Gryffin told her and set the open journal down on the bench and got out of her son-in-law's way. Stephanie joined her mother and both watched as Gryffin cast the spell.
The Mustang's antenna crackled with powerful energy as he intoned the spell, "Permissum quis est turpis iam existo promptus!"
Yellow-white magic burst from the antenna and arced toward the journal, hitting it and enveloping it with bright light. If one were observing what was happening, it seemed like the words were being rewritten in black ink by an invisible pen, right down to exact weave of the cursive writing. As quickly as the light appeared, it quickly disappeared, leaving no trace of itself behind except for the results it left in the journal.
Delfina brought her arm away from her face as the light died away, looking at the journal and then to Gryffin for a moment.
"Did it work?" she asked him.
"I don't know," said Gryffin, "Let's take a look and find out."
Delfina, Stephanie, and Gryffin all approached the bench and peered at the journal's first page curiously, wondering what it might reveal to them.
