"I'd like to ask a few things." Rolph-Carl answered, "If you don't mind. I was wondering if perhaps your... ah... targeting system... could use a little... improvement?"
The 787 gasped at the bodycheck, almost falling, but reclaiming his stance in a swaying, drunken fashion. "You're both gonna regret that." He readied for another lunge.
"I don't think so, smuthound." Another voice interrupted. Rick froze as the two F-16's came forward, exposing their canines. The pair, male and female, were older individuals, filling MP tasks on the base as well as accompanying the shuttle. Cmdr. Amara Sutherland and Lt-Cmdr. Terrell Holyfield looked up at Rick, growling in a way that made him anxious for his vulnerable belly and U/C regions. "If I were you, Bozo," Amara licked her chops, "I'd turn around and GFTO and never come back, and we'll all forget about this. If your bosses heard about this little um.. incident, who would they rather kiss goodbye, you or their multi-million-dollar military contract? It wouldn't be a hard decision for them to make."
The 787 pulled back as if snakebit. Without another word, but plenty of glares, he slowly pulled back, then stormed out.
Picard sniffed disdainfully as the Boeing left. "Sorry for the mess, people."
"No problem." Amara said before turning to Christine. "You OK?"

"And what would you have in mind?" Harold asked Carl. Just how many aces did that one have up his sleeve?
Christine sighed and avoided looking at the bartender. "Yeah, thanks for the concern." She said. "This is why I hate porn. I didn't think someone would actually go that far."

"I'll take a look out and make sure he goes." Terrell rolled over to the entrance of the great hangar that was the officer's club and nosed outside. "Looks like he's hauling ass."
"I know." Amara said to Christine. "My husband - EX-husband - was addicted to it. When your kids are finding their daddy's porn stash, it's bad."
"Years back, I developed some effective methods for maintaining... um.. compliance." Rolph's voice was genial, but icy beneath. "I believe I could only improve on that, with the right kind of help."

"And perhaps too early or during the experimental stage?" Christine asked. She occasionally showed that particular reflection, that she knew more about the subject while also denying it another time.
Harold thought for about few seconds, but not reaching a conclusion. If the rumors were true however, it could help him in some way.
"This is most likely not something you like to discuss." Harold said. "Tooth it over to me." He said as looking around for any other bluetooth devices. "My device is the only one around now in range."

"I've got a secure link." Rolph-Carl replied. "Watch for it."
"My boy, the older one, was going on twelve at the time." Amara grimaced. "Old enough to get that first hormone rush. Some example his father was setting!"
"I'd think that if you didn't want your kids getting into it, it shouldn't be in the house, period." Picard nodded.

"Don't tell me it was one of those more questionable material." Christine shuddered. Either Amara was somewhat conservative, or it was the case. And Picard, even for his ceaseless flirting, seemed to be either lying or actually cared.
Harold opened the 'readme' file and saw what Carl meant. The rumors weren't quite true, the reality was worse. He had been told that pain wasn't the only thing being thrown at her, but also some 'happyhappy' when job ended up good. He saw that the equipment could be modified for that, but Carl hadn't even bothered.
He didn't show his disgust for it. Rolph was someone not to be messed with. But that didn't mean he had to trust him.
"Is there anything else?" Harold asked.

"I'm no prude," Amara stated, slightly defensively, "But this was really hardcore stuff, as in gang bangs, with any number of and combinations of species. As open-minded as I am, I didn't really want Gavin sizing up car girls as hookup prospects sometime down the line! Some things are just not safe or even physically possible with everyone, and I didn't want him getting ideas that it was."
"A few more technical files." Rolph-Carl added, "But those are the basics right there. However, I would suggest a subtle approach - giving him the equivalent of an ice cream when he's done as you want. The negative reinforcements should be carefully applied, if at all." Carl didn't have much in the way of scruples, but even he knew better than to do too much stimulation on the undeveloped brain of a child.

Christine shivered. "Not what you want your kid to end up doing." She said. She eyed the container she had ordered before, seeing that she hadn't touched it. And she wasn't going to at all. She didn't really want to be more drunk in case the guy was waiting for her around the corner.
"Thanks for the help." She said. "I wasn't sure just how strong my 'no' had to be to get through his thick head."
"I can see that." Harold said. "Who developed it?" He asked.

"Some Chinese concerns, working on ways to curb dissidents, and they certainly had plenty of experimental subjects and no scruples about using them." Rolph-Carl admitted, "But ultimately, it was too much even for THEIR government to tolerate."
"We'll stay with you for a bit, OK?" Terrell said reassuringly.
"Me too." Picard seconded. "Just in case that creep needs another reminder."
"I alerted the other MP's." Amara said. "They'll be watching for him."

"And how did it come into your possession?" Harold asked. He felt that there was no room for unanswered questions with Carl. He wasn't as merciful as he was.
Christine chuckled. "Thank you all." She said. "But I think I'll call this a night. I haven't been yelled at by the bartenders, so I guess I am not blacklisted yet. But I wouldn't be offended if you wanted to spend more time inside." She headed towards the exit and left the container by.

"Think I will too." He caught the eye of the bartender, in a PUT-IT-ON-MY-TAB way.
"We can escort you back in case he's still hanging around." Terrell said.
"Thanks." Picard smiled.
"The developers were rather embittered, and found me and my partners to be ready customers." Rolph-Carl smiled. "Don't worry, we have no more interest in this kind of thing getting too widespread. Where would be the advantage in that?"

"Okay." Harold said. "Is there any more surprises left in your bag of tricks?" He just had to wonder if there was any more. In less than half an hour, Carl had left a big impression on him, though he wouldn't quite agree with the kind of impression left.
"And Picard - " Christine turned to him and gave him a weak whack with her wing. "NASA can't really afford you to get into bar scuffles. It would have been my neck on the line if you had gotten injured." She scoffed.

"They can't afford to run us into the ground either." Picard commented, a little sourness creeping into his tone. "Hope we don't get another satellite going belly-up or I'll learn a whole NEW bunch of Spanish swear words, to say nothing of how Miles will take it. He hasn't seen his folks in months." He started towards the doors. "Suppose we should make an early night of it."
"Whatever else there is is in the files." Rolph-Carl said. "I can't hang around much longer, but we'll talk later, OK?"

As tempting as it was to just leave Rolph without ever contacting him again, he knew it was too big of a risk at the moment. It wasn't long until he would have what he wanted, but any loose end could unravel the whole thing before it had a chance to form into a coherent image.
"You got my contact information." He said, then backed from the pier. "Thanks for the information."
He sighed as he was out of sight of Rolph. He had too much of an agenda towards the humans. He had perhaps hoped that Harold would go score the first kill using the ray against the shuttle. But he was big enough to carry the ray and the container, increasing the mobility. There was some use to him after all, though not in the sense he probably hoped for.
"Yeah. I am not in the mood for much else after that creep hitting on me." Christine said. "I swear, they don't get me riled up that much! But he just had to strike that nerve and not knowing that no means indeed no." As they approached KSC, she headed towards her personal hangar. "Here's for a hope that tomorrow will be better." She said to Picard.

"Goodnight." Picard called out before he headed to his own quarters. "Talk to you tomorrow, OK?"
Terrell gave a shout to one of the car MP's patrolling on the ground, asking him to keep an eye out for a certain 787 who didn't know the meaning of "NO!"
Rolph-Carl smiled as he watched Harold leave. You don't know the half of it, my dear boy. And soon that brat will be mine.
