"Amazing," said Phoenix with an appreciative nod.
"Reminds me of almost the one that nearly crushed me one time," Ebony said somberly, "but that's pretty good. I hope it would be easier for us now."

Kamui made the first crossing. "Be careful, ground's still loose." She clambered up to the other side and waited for the others.

Ebony was the next to cross, and then Phoenix. Both women were very careful and managed not to slip. They got across without incident.

Sydney was the last, trying to avoid the others' ruts. The last place she wanted to be was spinning her wheels at the bottom. She ascended in a slow panther-crawl and dragged herself over the edge with a grunt that she considered most unladylike. "Uhh... glad that's done with."
Kamui was already looking ahead, downtrail. "Looks a bit better from here on in. But the further we go, the closer we get to the wards. Have to bypass'em somehow."

"Even with Chase and Mom's help, I couldn't even get past those wards," said Ebony, "Ghost guides can't do everything."
"Times like this I wish I could use a teleportation spell," muttered Phoenix. She had been studying Grayston's books to teach herself how, but she wasn't an expert at it yet as it would always leave her exhausted and vulnerable.

"Don't worry about it." Kamui shrugged. "Vee did it once with a remote spell, she can do it again with a bit of help." She took out her cell and called up the helo, ascertaining her current position. "Your ghost guides will have an easier time then."

"Chase and Mom are telling me that they could give it another try," said Ebony.

"OK." Kamui nodded. "Vee's spells are generally of the dangerous kind, and the fewer of those she has to use, the better for her. Maybe I can do something to give your guides a boost? What do they think?"

"Hold on, lemme ask them," said Ebony as she went quiet for a few moments as she conferred with Chase and Melody. After several minutes, the Viper came out of it, "They said they'll do it and Chase understands the dangers of what this entails since he was a user himself."

"OK." Kamui tipped her blade-fan and produced an energy-ball. "They can use this for whatever - buffer or battery, whichever they need." She then released it from the tip.

The two ghosts drew in the energy ball and then linked up with Ebony so that she would know where they would go. They then flew off on their second scouting mission.

Kamui and the others waited while the ghosts flew off. "Good luck guys."

"Now we'll just have to wait until they report back to me whether or not they were able to pass through the wards or get repelled back," said Ebony, "I'm linked to them so I know where they're going."

The two ghosts, Chase and Melody, flew over the wilderess, heading toward the place where Stephanie was being held prisoner.

Zoe followed the ghosts. As an eagle, she could follow them as long as she was not actively doing magic. Lenore, Sydney's crow companion, followed after.
Kamui looked up, hearing the faint sound of a helicopter. "Vee."

The ghost decided to become invisible so that they wouldn't be followed by anyone or even seen.
"Sorry, guys, but Chase and Mom are very particular about being followed," said Ebony, still tracking them herself, "They don't like it and prefer to do this without anyone hovering over them. They'll report directly back to me and nobody else. They won't communicate with anybody else except me."
