"As you can see, we're all equipped to win this season, come what may," Chick began, pointing to the 2005 Piston Cup posed on a special rack in front of his service jack. "We always keep our...inspiration handy.
After giving them some time to look at the features of Chick's half of the garage, the GNX pointed them to...
"And this would be Eddie's section," Chick added, pointing to another service jack. It was obviously less-equipped than Chick's half, but only slightly. If it had been starved of new equipment, Toyota Inc. would be giving the team management hell to pay. But the one thing noticeable was that none of the team htB crew members were currently working on that half, thanks to a little loophole in the contract.

Eddie's section? David thought. Looks like they're planning on keeping him around for a while then... He did notice the slight lack of equipment, although this was relatively normal for a backup- they were only needed in emergency situations. The pitties lack of attention would be easily overlooked for someone less experienced in the ways of the race, although whether or not Eddie's parents would notice it was something he was curious about.

"Anyhow," Chick continued, turning to David, "Why don't you show Mr. and Mrs. Kuramoto around the rest of the pit area? Me and Eddie need to get ready for our test session."
He then turned to Eddie (and away from his parents) and with teeth clenched and a sadistic glare on his fascia, "Don't we, Eddie?"

"Actually, I'm fairly certain the young Mr. Kuramoto already has an appointment for this time. Besides, you said your test session wasn't until later today, correct? Surely a few more minutes won't make much of a difference."
Of course, this was all based on the radio transmition he got from Annie, telling him she'd be waiting in her garage.
(Woohoo! Showdown! XD)

Chick then turned to David, his sadistic glare evaporating. "Don't worry, this won't take too long. It'll just be a minute or so and then he'll catch up with you."
Eddie's mother then chimed in, "Take good care of him, okay?"
"Oh, I will. I will."

"It's fairly urgent, from what I remember. In fact, they're waiting right now."

Chick smiled craftily. "This'll only take a minute, cross my engine block and hope to stall."
Eddie nodded, though it was hard to tell if it was really a nod or just him trembling up and down.

David suddenly smiled as an idea struck him. He began to wonder how much more of his meddling it would take before Chick's patience (and temper) would snap. "Perhaps Mr. and Mrs. Kuramoto would like to watch the process? Being his parents, I'm sure they'd be interested. It's not like Piston Cup rules state it's confidential."

Chick grumbled, as David had caught him in a bind. Over the periods between races he'd been forced to visit a psychologist thanks to that little incident in Miami. He also knew that if he was caught abusing Eddie (badly enough and off-track,) he'd suffer both htB's AND Toyota's wrath.
"You know what? You can take him for now, but we'd better see him back here before the test session starts. Wouldn't want him to be late for his appointment now, would we?"
Eddie was still tense, hoping that Chick wouldn't follow him to-
"Maybe I'll go with you, just to see how things turn out."
Damn. At least I'm not that Fiero...he'd have incinerated himself by now.

(o.O Ouch. Self-incineration.)
David merely smiled and nodded. "Of course. You can add your own commentary to the tour- a racer's perspective as opposed to my own. This way, Lady and gentlecars," he gestured with a tire towards the pit exit. He was sure to place himself between Chick and the Kuramotos as they left.
"Here in pit lane is where a lot of the background action happens, as you may know," he began, taking on his 'English Lecture' voice. "We have the racer's trailers and garages." He gestured broadly... but if one had been paying attention, they would have noticed a slightly pointed nudge towards the black #22 garage. "Beyond it we have Pit Row and the Crew chief's stands, where vehicles such as myself stand and watch, in case two racers should happen to meet during a race. It is our job to keep things running smoothly during pit stops and to alert our racers if a fellow compeditor tries to pass them on their blind side and sneak away- as it were- with their placeholding." The emphasis on the certain words were subtle, but there. Now if only their intended target was paying attention...
He averted his eyes to Chick. "Anything you would like to add, Mr. Hicks?"
(Must sleep now. Night y'all!)

Alright....we'll talk more later in somewhere privet then. No point in having Buck suspicious anyways.... Kamui thought-spoke.
"Anyways, it does seem like a good day for flying, doesn't it?" said Kamui switching the subject.

Glimmer spotted Kamui mingling with some of the helicopters and decided to move in.

All it took was Kamui making a quick mirror check to see Glimmer right behind her. Her expression soured.
"There's something stupid behind me, isn't there?" Kamui half grumbled.

Seeing that Ebony clearing didn't want to talk about unpleasant topics, Sapphire decided to help her out.
The stocker smiled and spoke up, "So, have you done any camping lately?"
"Oh, um..." Ebony seemed a little startled when Sapphire spoke, "Yeah, with Slaytor a few times. Really couldn't go far with the twins, so we just settled on going to campsites that were close by. We did go to the Grand Canyon and spent the week there. It was nice."
"I bet that was," nodded Sapphire appreciatively, "Nothing beats camping out in the wilderness. Heh, I bet that's why you chose this booth here. To look out on that beautiful expanse of forest that I bet you'd want to explore."
Ebony nodded, smiling a bit, "Yeah, I'd want to do that very much."
"Maybe you can get that chance, soon," said Sapphire.
(((((OOC: Okay. There are not that many cities in Ohio. The biggest ones are Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Toronto. The rest are just small towns no bigger than two miles as well as a bunch of farmland and forests. I live near a major water route, the Ohio River, where I see towboats and barges daily going up and down with cargo such as coal, liquid petroleum, and dry products. There's a bit of sand dredging going on too. I doubt there are any street races in Ohio and the authorities are harsh on speeders. Just a quick note on my state, where the imaginary city of Smasherville is located.)))))

"I'd say the widdle kitten got lost." Veronica's mouth twisted wryly.
"We've camped out quite a bit in the Carolinas," Strip smiled as he reminisced. "I almost LIVED in the pine forests during my teens."
