Raine didn't look at Doc, afraid to cry in front of him.

Delfina ignored everything else around her and just stared up at the stars in the sky. They were just as beautiful to her as they were back home.
~~~~~
"That would be nice," agreed Ebony, "and interesting. I've seem just about every place in here except this place with the plants, the vegetables and fruit."
Aron came to Delfina, standing on one branch and keeping himself steady with another. He brought the bowl of chili and spoon and handed it over to Delfina. "Food."
"Don't want it," Delfina said, sounding distant and waving him off.
"Eat it or I will dump it over your head, hoping that the hair will absorb the nutrients for you."
"Look, I said I'm not hungry," Delfina sat up, "Besides, I have a few energy bars left..."
Aron thrust the bowl in Delfina's face. "You had to choose between a human and an animal, and you had to choose if the human had to die, or the animal had to die. You have never had to choose between two humans."
With that, Aron climbed down to get himself some dinner.
Doc gave Raine a slight nuzzle, in the delicate way that a human would touch a baby bird.
"It's amazing how they can get stuff to grow in there." Darcy concurred.
Delfina just growled a little bit and wiped the soup out of her face and hair. How can anyone understand what I'm going through?
~~~~~
"They probably managed to do the same with the center court, too," said Ebony.

Raine sniffled and leaned her cheek against his muzzle, feeling his warm breath wash over her face. "I'm sorry..."

Aron scoffed as hearing Delfina growling, seeing that she was too self-centered to have picked up what he had said between the lines. And remembering that incident was leaving him in a foul mood. He took a plate for himself and sat down not near anyone.

Darcy looked down to see the oat grass beginning just beyond the flagstones she stood on. "This whole place is a miracle."
"It's OK." Doc settled with Raine.

"You should ask Tess how this place had been with her family for generations," said Ebony, "it was handed down from her grandfather to her."
~~~~~
Unlike most people, Delfina didn't believe that humans were better than animals, but shared similiar characteristics. She didn't like to kill if she could help and had only been hoping her tailswipe would only deter the quadwolf from attacking.
That's why she treated Shadow as a member of her surviving "family." And now with Rocket added to the picture, she didn't see what was really necessary for owning a gun to protect oneself.
Aron washed his own plate after eating and crawled inside the tent for sleep. But it didn't help keeping back some rather painful memories, having just now resurfaced just because he had talked to Delfina, or rather showed chili in her face.
Raine sniffled again, hugging the old Hornet gently, "Just seeing the kid reminds me of what I don't have..."
