Dawn looked down at Shadow with this HUH? look, but got what was being communicated to her. She followed the husky as she trotted down the corridor and off to the left, towards the storage bays.

Shadow knew this was the right way to the storage bays as she had been through here a few times with Delfina, passing the ATVs, to the place where Aron had hidden his Range Rover. She could still hear both Delfina and Aron talking about cults, but really wasn't interested in what their opinions were. What she wanted to do was introduce her new friend to them. She barked to get their attention.
Delfina turned around to see what Shadow wanted and saw Dawn with the the husky. Aron remained quiet.
"Oh, hello there," Delfina smiled at Dawn, "I see Shadow found a new friend. What's your name, Sweetie?"

"I'm Dawn." the girl said shyly. She was about chest-high on an adult, with straight dark-blonde hair and light freckling on her face. She wore jeans and a pink sweatshirt which were now slightly dusty from the conditions in the bunker and caverns, and bits of straw clung to her legs from her visit to the stables. She eyed the Range Rover curiously. Most vehicles that size had been left outside, and were now buried beneath a layer of ash. She had heard her uncle talking of the conditions he'd experienced with the out-team and it had frightened her. "I saw you around but I never asked your name."

((I'm also thinking she could have been out of her house when the Caldera erupted, and she fears that's the last she also saw of her family?))

"I'm Delfina," the red-haired woman replied, tilting her head and causing the long locks to shift slightly on her shoulders. She wore a black halter-top underneath a long duster-denim jacket with fur-lining and jeans with the bottom pant-legs tucked into snow-boots. "What are you doing out in the corridors by yourself? Aren't you supposed to be with your family?"

Martin Lebeau, computer technician from Waterville in the Eastern Townships, QC, worked on building the computer network that was managing everything in the bunker. Electricity, inventory, etc. He went there because of a friend of his who was a Seeker. They preferred taking something from far away, so there's not too much info leaking out of the place. Meanwhile, Martin planned to take advantage of this trip and see places like the Four Corners and such. He thought the Seekers were a weird cult. He didn't in the so-called Disaster... until that, on March 9, 2008, at 5:24am, he was awaken up by what seemed to be a earthquake. He didn't mind and quickly tried to go back to sleep. He did not get to. Well, it wasn't the first time he got that kind of insomnia on mornings, and that was because he did not do much the day before. So he checked his e-mails. He noticed the Internet was kinda slow and server requests would sometimes time out before any response. There was more and more walking and door noises outside of his room. People were talking. Some were running. Maybe a water leak in a cave. Bet I gotta check the server room this morning. At 6:21am his friend entered his room, slamming the door against the wall. "Ça y est !", (That's IT!) he shouted.
—"Quoi ? Votre fameux désastre ?", (What? Your 'Great Disaster'?) Martin asked back, expecting a No as reply, but being truly worried without really knowing it.
—"Oui." (Yes.)
—"Attends... qu'est-ce qui s'est passé au juste ?" (Wait a minute... what happened exactly?)
—"Yellowstone a pété." (Yellowstone has gone off.)
Martin knew what that meant. Big, big eruption. His heart almost stopped.
—"T'es vraiment pas en train de me niaiser, man..." (You're really not kidding me, man...)
—"Pantoute." (Not at all.) Alex's stare ('cause Alex was this Seeker's name) was indescriptible.
—"Calice de sacrament de tabarnak..." (F-word and such...) At the same time, he was powering on his handheld computer to look for news about that. It couldn't connect... there was no response from the DHCP server. His laptop could only connect to a few websites using IP addresses Martin memorized. That means the DNS server (the one that provides .com, .org and such addresses) was lost too. While he managed to get two or three pages giving a résumé about the situation, as time passed by, the wide area network (in short, Internet) was getting more and more unreliable and slow. Then he lost it. There goes the World's biggest computer network."Well. I guess we'd better go take breakfast. I don't think I'll sleep anytime soon this morning." *** Seventeen days passed. Martin was worried everytime Alex would go outside. And when he came back, he would't say a word about what they had been up to. After he met a man called Drew, who did not seem to know much more than him about those the purpose of those outside trips, even if he was one of them. While he was going to one of the computer rooms of the bunker, a dog ran after him, sniffing him, and such. Martin tried to stay calm, altough he has always been afraid of dogs. /* Either Dawn or Delfina can talk to him... */

"My family's in Canada." Dawn stated in muted tones. "I'm from St. John's. Mom sent me to visit my aunt and uncle and cousins in Cortez for March break, and I was with them when it happened."
Tess studied the Vessel - it was a flawless artifact, uncovered by her great-great-great-grandfather in Mexico. Her family had kept it ever since. She had positioned highly polished mirrored lenses about the round chamber, all aimed towards the slender, hollow column of chrystal on the central plinth. After two decades, she had finally decoded the instructions for its deployment. The time was drawing short. Time to get to work. "Mama?" a man's voice came from the doorway. "C'mon in, Josh." Tess answered without turning. "We're just about ready here." A young man - mid-twenties in age, dark-haired, skinny - came up beside her. His hazel eyes went from his stepmother to the vessel. Tess had spoke to him of it, but he had never actually seen it for real until now. "It is a pretty, dainty thing." Tess nodded. "And it means all the world to us right now." She reached up and pulled down a wire cage which fitted over the vessel. "We got everything arranged outside and in. Time to open up and let it go." "You're not gonna let folks know what's happening?" Joshua eyed the older woman who had been mother to him since his widowed father remarried. He had been but a baby at that time. "They'll know soon enough." Tess declared with finality. She pressed a button on the plinth. "Let's charge it up." <<< FYI It's Yellowstone, DF, not Yosemite >>>

"That means you were separated from them," said Delfina, "and there's no way of knowing what happened to them after the disaster happened. It's a bit difficult to communicate with the outside world now."
Shadow sat close to Dawn as a gesture of caring.

Andrea's hand shivered, the food on the spoon it held seeming to hold firm amidst her trembling as she stared at her tray. After a few seconds, she let the spoon fall back on the tray and leaned back in her seat, which thankfully was close to a wall. She looked around, and although things seemed fairly organized she could sense all the hopelessness in the air. The only one who didn't seem even remotely aware of it was a teenaged red-headed boy sitting next to her, sitting slumped forward on the table and sleeping.
With nobody else that she hoped would notice, she quietly started to snivel...
((Guess who that boy is. XD Seems there are only girls in this thread, chauvinists. Anyway, feel free to interact with either.))

"I don't hear anything but static from the radio now." Dawn said. "No TV either. It's kinda boring." She scratched the husky's ears. She turned as she heard someone else rummaging about in the halls outside. "Who's there?"

/* The dog I was talking about was Shadow, actually.... oh well... */
Martin joined Dawn and Delfina, hearing what Dawn said about the radio.
"Hi.", he said, as shyly as always.
