"I never really thought of it that way before... but I'm definately not ready to write a book about it yet..." said Ebony, "but it would be nice to know about this town's history way back when it was just founded..."
((((OOC: Ebony likes to learn about history... it would keep her from getting bored...)))))

"You could ask Lizzie about that," Ondine suggested. "She's always happy to talk about her late husband who founded this town, and what happened before then."

"That's an idea..." said Ebony, getting her notebook back from Ondine, "If I'm not too tired, though... Would be a change from all the drama that's been happening lately... Maybe I can ask everyone in town... You know, like, compile a list of stories that they all remember about the town..."

"That would be worthwhile." Ondine nodded as she handed the book back. "Maybe once it's whipped into shape, you could make a book of it and sell it through Lizzie's shop."
"That would be a great idea!" exclaimed Darcy.

"I've never done that before..." admitted Ebony, "but it sounds fun... and I'd like to do something worthwhile with my time..."

"I can go ask Lizzie for you." Darcy offered.
"That would be great, thanks." Ebony nodded, stifling a yawn. "Mmm... but I should have some sleep first."
"Heh, grab it while you can." Ondine snickered. "You won't be getting much once they're born."
"That's what everyone tells me." Ebony settled into her pad and covers.

It didn't take long for Natalie to secure fresh water. She had secured the supplies through Sarge. He had been skeptical at first, but when she explained she was putting it to good use, and intended to pay, he had relented.
She returned to find Shawn where she left him, standing stock-still, soap trickling off his fenders and sides. It was an almost laughable sight.
"Okay, you've been very patient," she said sweetly, soaking a fresh sponge and beginning to wash away the soap. "This should make you look a little more presentable. I would recommend something like a touch-up to cover those scars, but - "
"You know me well enough to know I won't take that recommendation seriously," the aero hybrid finished lamely, glancing sideways at her.
"What about lunch?" the GT girl suggested, undetered, "I at least want to see you dry off adequetely before you go about your business."
Shawn suppressed a growl. That was her subtle way of prodding him to overcome his fear of the usual crowd at Flo's. "Fine. If it'll keep you off my case for the rest of today."

(((((OOC: Probably my only post for the day. I will need someone to puppet for me until I can come back tomorrow afternoon. And to boot, I have no idea where all my other OCs, plus some of my FCs, have wandered off to. XD)))))
Ebony was still a little ill, even though she was nearly recovered from her relapse that had been caused by her father's arrival a week earlier. She didn't feel like being active throughout her term and believed it was a good idea to wait until after the twins were born before she did anything active at all. The book idea can wait, but she can still plan for it.
Sleep really sounded good right now and she needed to conserve her energy when the time came for the birth of the twins, which probably wouldn't be very easy for her. Making sure that she was comfortable enough, Ebony yawned again and closed her eyes.

Darcy and Ondine settled down beside Ebony, as the Bricklin took a position close to the flap and watched whatever was going on outside. She saw the Weathers at the diner and the helos wandering about on the ground, those that could.

Boo eventually wandered back to his owner. He watched, with what passed for an bemused look, as Shawn was rinsed off. Underneath the dust and general grime, the dark scars were painfully obvious. Rust had already begun to form out around some of the worst ones.
Natalie stopped to marvel at the collection. She felt a mix of pity and confusion. Taking note of the aero hybrid's indifferent expression, for the hundredth time, she wondered what it was that made him so self-negligent.
About ten minutes later, she backed away from her work, proclaiming, "There, all done."
Shawn gratefully pulled away from the drenched patch of sand he had been forced to park on. About time, he thought to himself, feeling a shiver pass through him. Deciding not to be a total grouch about it, he offered the GT girl a small smile. "Thanks."
"You're welcome," Natalie gathered up her supplies. "I'm going to go stash these. You go ahead to the diner."
Naturally, he hesitated, but at seeing her glare at him, trudged off toward Flo's. What did it matter? By now, he was used to the crowd, and the occasional stare.

Strip edged aside a bit as Shawn came in. He couldn't miss the patchwork of scars on the hybrid's body at this distance. It looked a bit like what he'd seen on some lower-tier racers without the support of PC circuit sponsors. Even he had looked like that at times before he'd made it big.

At last, Ebony drifted off to sleep, after waiting for the twins to settle inside her. Just three more months and she'd be free of their physical demands on her body.
But, the last question on her mind before sleep overtook her was: Just how did Dodge know about me and my babies in the first place?
(((((OOC: I wonder where Huntress and Lyle are...)))))

((Seeing as how we took a week-long time jump, they'd pretty much be anywhere you see fit... unless you have used them and established a location in the time since then.))
He supposed that, by now, the server girls were used to his subdued behavior around the diner. One of the Miata twins greeted Shawn as he pulled into a stall - one at least one space over from the overall crowd, as was his custom. He offered a quick hello to her before placing an order.
Several minutes later, Natalie joined him. Boo tagged along, and promptly lay down in the shade. Shawn eyed the foxdog with natural distain before letting it drop.
"After this, will you promise to not utilize me in any more of your pet-projects?" the aero hybrid mumbled, glaring half-heartedly.
Though he sounded casual, Natalie could tell he had had it with being pampered for a long time yet.
She smiled. "Promise."

It appeared that Lynda wanted to make overtures towards Shawn, as she hadn't seen that much of him, but Strip frantically shook his front. "He's not social at all." he whispered to her.
Lyle watched as Saffiya bundled up with Kain, settling by his side. It had been determined that the two would be better off if allowed to be together, since Saffiya had eaten almost nothing while in segregation and was starting to get weak; the guards hated the prospect of force-feeding sessions as much as she did. He had to admit she was quieter now and tolerated medical treatment that she'd resisted before. Work was beginning on a new impound facility with a run-in shed so that the "guests" could get out of inclement weather, and the construction crew had been at it all week. Then, Mater could have his scrapyard to himself again.
