First of all, Woot! First thread of the section! Second of all, I was wondering recently. Do you think it's possible that Chick could see the light and eventually mellow out? It is my profound belief that everyone can change. Everyone. However, Chick has driven in his rut so many times, he's in deep. A Radiator Springs-esque soujourn would not be enough to do it. I reckon he'd need to find someone who is a mix of Sally and Mater, one he initially likes and who sees past his obvious flaws to see what's good about him, and bring it out. An interesting converse to this is thus: would Lightning have ended up like Chick had he not had his soujourn? I am of the belief that Lightning and Chick have the same base personality type. They start out thinking that speed > all, and any position that isn't first place is worthless ("One Winner, 42 Losers"). This said, I don't think Lightning would end up quite as heartless as Chick, had he not had his soujourn. Unlike Chick, success comes easy to Lightning, so it's unlikely he'd have to suffer the runner up blues until much later in his career. He'd probably be more self-absorbed than anything. His secret loneliness (touched on with his conversation with Harv), could mean he be desparate for attention, which could lead him down a slippery slope. On a minor note, my brother loves Chick, mainly because he's into the jerk characters. He's the type who'd have liked it if Woody still pushed Buzz out the window, like it was originally gonna be.

If Chick could change, it'd defently take him a whole lot longer then it would Lighting, given how bad Chick's tude is.

Yeah, he would be able to change, but it would take longer and perhaps a set of totally different circumstances.

Unless...well...let's just say that season's coming up for Ebenezer. XD But that'd be a remote possibility in itself.

Hm, I was wondering this myself. At the beginning of the film, I see no clear distinction as to who is worse, Chick or McQueen. Chick may shove others on the track, but at least he can keep a pit crew, something the then self centered and ungrateful Lightning couldn't do.
It's all down to chance, really. Some of us will meet great friends who are willing to work with us and help us change, some won't. Who is to say whether Chick would have changed, had he been given the same blessing as McQueen? I bet he could have.

I think it would have to be a bigger set of circumstances. Chick's behavior patterns are much more deeply ingrained than Lightning's were. IMO, It would take time and a lot of pain.

Chick's behavior... I don't know. I think he could change, but it'd take a pretty sharp smack across the face to do it. Sort of makes me wonder what, though...

Anyone has the possibility to change, that's what I think. And in Chick's case it would take everything but the kitchen sink. Not to say he couldn't, but something pretty dang serious would have to happen to him.

Agreed. Chick would need to go through something very serious, very life-affirming, and perhaps even very nasty - and even then, it'd probably only shake up his attitude - methinks it would take more than an hour and ten minutes of good-old-fashioned Disney values and morals to turn him around.

I couldn't really say, but I do know I disliked Chick from the start. He doesn't play fair. I don't like people who don't play fair. Or cars.
I suppose he could change, however, but as has been said, something pretty damn serious would have to happen to him. :\ Just my opinion.
Though... I do know of at least one person who's rather, er... cruel, who probably couldn't change.

i think it would take atleast a month for chick to lighten up...some people may disagree..but i think he'd be able to change...if you give him sometime (a lot of it)....you'd need an "insane amount of luck" to do it though....

Sometimes change comes when a hard choices/decisions (can't spell at the time...^^ have to be made. I think he'd change if perhaps his life was at stake. We obviously know he feels nothing about nearly trashing someone else. *cough-cough* the whole nearly killing the King thing....But I think he could change, it would however, as everyone has stated, it would take something very, very, very serious to do it.

I think he'd be able to change but it'd take something big, one of those life changing things that happen to certain people or cars in this case to give them a second chance in life to be the kind of good person they really want to be although if he ended up in a situation like Lightning's he better hope that that car has a lot of patience and tolerance for his kind of attitude otherwise he's out in the rain without an umbrella.
