"It's probably some of the older ones." Jonathan said. "We're just about filling the box now."
Gideon chuckled. "I don't know why they settle so fast." He flicked a blade. He had gotten few letters from people who wanted to study him, and somehow measure his sexiness. Some had even sent him reports based on observation. But going to carverse was something Gideon didn't want to. He had already gone once to get the Oka breed evaluated, and he had left as quickly, leaving a surprise ten months after he left.

"I just got a fresh ring put in, so no worries." Ariana shrugged and flicked her blades with a crooked grin. She really didn't care what Arataki thought.
"He's like that "mega-playboy" from that old native anime we watched when we were teenagers." Arataki rolled her eyes. "He's lucky he can fight as well as he can f*ck, or some jealous guy would've killed him by now."
"You think we might find an Action Comics #1 in there?" Cyrus grinned. "Man, that would be a find." He put a few last volumes in the box.
"We'll have to call soon." Rihanna said. "We're close to maximum exposure for the day." She took out some motion detectors to ensure that the stacks would not be disturbed until the relay team came in to resume retrieval operations.

Jonathan closed the box and sealed it, then sent a signal to Gideon that they were ready for a return to base.
"I know not to tempt the married or the ones already with a boyfriend." Gideon said smirking. "But some still come after my hide anyway." He paused as he got a message from Jonathan. "My team's ready to return. I'll see you later." He said and went over to the helicopter pad for takeoff.

"See you later." Ariana nodded as the support crew re-attached Gideon's protective gear. She waited her turn, expecting to hear from the forensic crew very shortly.
Cyrus and Ariana packed up what they could and helped to tote the carry-boxes outside. The vault was relocked and motion-detectors put around.

Gideon was still as the gear was put on him. He could barely afford any mistakes in such unforgiving environment. He then spooled up and headed to DC.
Jonathan and the crew made their way to the RZ. But they didn't approach it due to the collection of dust. It felt silly to be so paranoid towards dust, but this was Jonathan's first time in a real hot zone, so paranoia, it was a given.
Well, we didn't encounter any zombies. That's a plus.

Rihanna and Cyrus waited with Jonathan well outside the designated LZ, and soon saw a familiar shape approaching them. They waved to Gideon.
Still haven't asked about Mom and Dad yet, have you? Arataki thought as she watched her brother leave.

The problem with the protective mask and gear that it killed a helicopter's olfactory sense. All he could rely on that Jonathan and the others were around was his own conviction that they were.
He touched down and killed his engines quickly.
Once Jonathan didn't see any more dust moving around, he stood up and approached Gideon. Now he opened the cabin wide to get in the boxes as quickly as possible. "It was a success." He said. "Even got an unexpected extra."
"What was it? Another thing to add to your collection?" Gideon asked.
"Not quite." Jonathan said. "This one's most likely going to find its way to a museum or an archive."

"No more additions to our little acting company, I'm afraid." Cyrus mock-pouted as he stowed things into Gideon's cabin. "We'll just have to make do with Half-Melted Harry." He and Rihanna dusted each other off as much as possible to keep the dust in Gideon's interior down to a minimum before handing the canned air to Jonathan. "But we did find some of the original Federalist Papers, some correspondence from Revolutionary War leaders and even a few vintage comic books."

"I just got to wonder why it was on our list to begin with? Are you all carversians desperate to know what we humans think of as heroes?" Miles chuckled.
"Don't ask me." Gideon said. "You're carverse bred human while I'm humanverse bred helo."
"And imagine Cyrus, disappointingly enough, that sentence made sense." Miles yawned.

Cyrus snickered. "About as much sense as why CVers want to look at old Superman and Batman funnies. Well, they did call this place "The library of last resort" in the old US of A." He stepped aboard after Rihanna and started to buckle in.
Rihanna sighed and tried to make herself as comfortable as possible. "I can't wait to get out of this gear and into a shower."

"Same here." Jonathan said. "And it is not a shower to get rid of radioactive dust, but because it's warm out, and my clothes are sticking to me."
Gideon chuckled as Jonathan closed the cabin doors. "Don't worry, we'll get our showers soon enough. He said. He felt slightly bad about being again ahead of Ariana in the shower line, unless her team was quick about loading. He spooled up once he had a confirmation that they were secure.

"Speaking of the heat, I think it's been the first year that temps were really back to normal up north." Cyrus remarked as he looked out the cabin window. He felt Gideon ascending, and gazed out over the ruins of the capitol city. He had born and raised in the post-blowup world, by parents who had been themselves children at the time of the caldera eruption. His father, a native of New Orleans, had been on a trip to Ghana with his church youth group when it happened. His mother was a Ghanian national whom his father had met there during the trip. They endured through climatic changes, hardships and civil unrest to build a new life for themselves, finally settling in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Eventually, he hoped to earn enough to go to college and perhaps get a farm allotment on the U.S. continent. Volcanic deposits made for very rich soil in the long run.
Rihanna didn't mince words as she settled down. "So Gideon, you getting in good with that new girl yet?"

"I think Arataki tried to sabotage it a bit, but she didn't buy it." Gideon said to Rihanna. "Probably going to get her tonight, after dinner."
"At least it wasn't like at Salt Lake City." Jonathan said. "Three females there instead of one."
"And not one was desparate enough for some meat to do some polygamy." Gideon said. "We had to leave because they had begun fighting over me. That was not one of my proudest moments."
Gideon touched down, and Jonathan waited for him to be still and the engine dead before opening the cabin door.

"And two of those were Robinsons." Cyrus rolled his eyes. There were two things that Robinsons lacked - muzzles and patience. That they had skids rather than wheels did not stop that pair from mixing it up with the Bell girl who also wanted him.
The decontamination team was waiting, first washing down the team while still in their hazmat suits, then having them step into a booth to disrobe and shower. Ariana could be seen approaching from the distance, carrying her passengers back after a gruesome day of tagging and bagging in the wake of the scouting teams.
Rihanna lifted off her mask with a sigh of relief after the first washdown. Another team moved to deal with Gideon, cleaning him inside and out. A few more prepared to do the same with Ariana and her people once they were ready.

"Ah, smelling things again." Gideon said to Ariana when he saw her mask being taken off. He was enjoying more throughout scrub as he had been carrying outside material, and the landing-takeoff procedure was different from the plan and took longer.
Jonathan leaned on the separator between his stall and an empty stall. He hadn't been out longer than he had been in other places, but wearing some unknown suit, added weight and temperature, it was enough to make him appreciate the relaxation.
