Ricardo followed Kendall, calling Gryffin's name.
*****
"I hope not," said Delfina.
*****
Kestrel and Falcon continued to race around with Gryffin.

"There's Ken and Rico." Zoe pointed out. "They don't look happy."
"Kestrel! Falcon! Stop that right now!" Kendall barked out.

Kestrel and Falcon stopped when they heard their father's voice. Their back-ends bumped into the fence that surrounded the corral.
"You too, Gryff," Ricardo called out to his son.

"Did you realize what you were doing just now?" Kendall pointed to the cattle inside the pen. The young steers were tightly bunched together, wringing their tails, rolling their eyes and sounding off anxiously. "Those animals are pretty stressed out right now. You can't do that kind of thing out here."
"Uh-oh, they're in for it now." Zoe put her hand to her mouth.

"Ebony won't be too happy if she hears what they had done," said Delfina.
Kestrel and Falcon looked guilty as Kendall told them about the animals being spooked and stressed because of their racing around. "We were bored and wanted to do something..."

"You could have asked us, or someone, and found a place to play." Kendall answered. "As it is, you could have spooked those animals so much that they could have hurt themselves, and if it had been horses instead of cattle, it could have gone a lot worse. Have you ever seen what can happen to a horse that runs through a wire fence? Saw that a few years back when they had a lightning storm and one of the Lippizaner horses got himself badly cut up, they almost lost him. Doesn't take much to frighten them. Now, we're going right back to your mother and you're going to tell her what you did, and take your lumps."
"I don't think so." Zoe concurred to Delfina.

Both Kestrel and Falcon bit their lips. They weren't really looking forward to telling their mother what had almost happened. And the fact that she was recovering from a gunshot wound wasn't helping

"Part of being big boys is taking responsibility for what you do, even if it's no fun." Kendall explained, a bit more kindly. "So think about what you're doing and don't put your mother through stress that she doesn't need, OK?"

"Goes for you too, Gryff," Ricardo said to his son.
The Mustang boy nodded solemnly, "Si, Padre..."
"Okay..." the twins said in response to what Kendall told them.

"Now, let's go see mama." Kendall pointed back to the portal.

"Yes, Papa..." the twins said as they turned back to the portal, heading toward the Center Court. Ricardo nodded toward Gryffin and the Mustang boy followed his father in.

"Well, that's one disaster averted," Delfina said with a sigh of relief.

"Yeah..." Zoe nodded as the cattle started to settle down. "Hope none of the animals was hurt."
Kendall led the twins back down to the center court, where their mother was still resting.

"They'll be checked to make sure," said Delfina.

The twins came back into the center court and toward their mother's suite. Ebony was still asleep, but Phoenix was still awake, keeping a close eye on Iara, Lynx, and Artemis.
The Trans Am flicked her mirrors and looked up.

"Hello, brought the boys back." Kendall said.
"If I know Ebony, she'll make them apologize to everyone there." Zoe said.

"And where did they go?" Phoenix asked as she saw Ricardo bring back Gryffin, who looked quite guilty and knew that his mother could easily read his thoughts if she wanted to find out that he was the one that persuaded the twins to go outside.
The twins were looking guilty as well.
*****
"She has a tendency to do that," said Delfina, "Though in her current condition, I hope she doesn't get up and move around to do that."
In the meantime, Stephanie had quietly wandered away from her mother.
