There wasn't much in the desert these days. It was hot and one could get lost and suffer delirium if they couldn't find their way back to the nearest town in time. So one had to be careful and be prepared for just such an event.
A black wolf with purple markings in various places along her body was trotting along looking for any prey that would feed her pups. A desert hare would suffice if she could catch one and even a mouse would have to do.
It was then that she saw a patch of gray in the distance and decided to have a look. Perhaps it was an animal in distress or prey. Either way, this made her curious and she went to investigate...
(((((OOC: To anyone who doesn't know, the black wolf with purple markings is Ebony... she's one of my main characters...)))))

She was nearly out of breath from trying to free her led from a poachers trap when Jenna lifted her head slightly to catch a better scent of somthing around her. The air was thick with dust and it was hot against her black fur, she longed for shade and a drink of water. Beaten and broken she layed her head down, waiting, longing for what ever it was to come and relieve her of this misery.
((Jenna as we all know is my MAIN RP charater..... the Lovely Ebony did a picture of her for me as a wolf.... sooo if you NEED to look...it's in HER art thread for now, until I get a ref of her up in the "comic ideas" section..... but yeah..... there ya go! ^_^))

When she approached the patch of gray and black, it turned out to be a wolf caught in a poachers' trap. Her brow furrowed in irritation. Damn poachers, she thought, Why can't they just leave us alone?
Ebony went over to the half-conscious wolf and nudge her to see if she was awake.
"C'mon, please tell me you're alive," said Ebony, nudging Jenna.

Her eyes were heavy and dry, but she opened them slightly to see the one before her. Normally she could sense a threat, for it was in her blood, but this being seemed well mannered. She tried to speak, but her mouth was too dry and was filled with dust and sand, and that came out was a feeble sigh. Now that she was awake again, the pain rushed back to her caught and torn leg.... it was unbearable pain as the spiked clamps cut deeper into her flesh.....
((Jenna by wolf standards is BIG.... heh so... just to let ya'll know....but BRB I'm gonna go to the gas station to get some coffee...I need it.... but I'll be back within a half hour....no worries... go on with out me...and Ebony... You can Puppet if you'd like ^_^))

(((((OOC: Okay, lemme see what I can come up with...)))))
Ebony realized that the wolf laying before her was possibly suffering from severe heat delirium and unable to speak because of a dry throat. How long has she been out here? She looks terrible?
She glanced over at the trap and frowned even more. She would have to work a little bit harder to open up that trap and free this wolf. It wasn't long until she came up with an idea.
"Okay, I'm gonna try and open that trap and if you can take your paw out when I say so, do so," Ebony told Jenna, who only looked up at her with bleary eyes.
Ebony placed both her front paws on the jaws of the trap and started to push. She gritted her teeth and strained as the trap slowly and deliberately came apart, releasing its teeth from Jenna's paw. Ebony then put her back paws on one of the jaws while her front paws were on the other one.
"There! Move your paw!" Ebony strained to keep the jaws apart. Seeing that Jenna was moving sluggishly, she took the paw in her own jaws and moved it as quickly and gently as she could. It was then that the trap began to push against her and she knew she had to get away before it clamped down on one of her own paws.
Making sure that Jenna was completely free and away from the trap, Ebony suddenly and swiftly leapt away from the trap as it instantly shut again. She escaped injury, but the trap only got a small clump of black fur from the tip of her tail.
But she didn't care about that for the moment and went back over to Jenna to see if the other wolf was alright. She took a moment to take in Jenna's size and saw that she herself was a bit smaller in comparison.
"My den is close by," she said to Jenna, "It's safe and it's where my pups are. I'll help you over there. Just lean on me for a bit. I don't mind."

((WHOA! That's GOOD! hehehehe))
Jenna tried to get up as quickly as she wanted to, and the pain in her paw was dulled due to the trap being off of it. She rose to her feet slowly and tried to stand on her own, but she collapsed quickly falling to the ground with a thud. Come one Jenna..... You can do this.... get up! she heard a voice in her head say and she arose to her feet again. Her mouth dry still, she tried to mutter a 'thank you' but all that she could say was "th-thanks" and she steadied her self best she could and looked to her rescuer for the next call.
((WOOT! GO Ebony! hehe.... you saved Jenna!!))

Ebony nods, "You're welcome."
"Okay, it's this way," said Ebony, letting Jenna lean on her, "There's a small stream nearby where you can get a drink because you look like you haven't had anything for days. You can rest in my den and I think I can find something to take care of that paw. And my name's Ebony. Don't worry, I'll learn your name later."
Even with the heavier weight on her, Ebony managed to make it back to her den and two playful little pups scampered out to greet their mother.
"Mama! You're back! Didja bring us anything?" the pups stopped short when they saw who was with Ebony, "Who's that?"
"I found her out in the desert," Ebony explained to her pups, "She's hurt bad. I'm helping her."
"She okay?" asked a little lavender pup with dark blue markings on her muzzle, paws, and back.
"Hopefully, Maven, hopefully," replied Ebony.
Ebony helped Jenna to the stream where she could take her first drink in days, staying with her to help keep her steady.

Jenna was relieved to feel comfort in some way and as she bent down to drink she dipped her tongue in slowly and then began to lap the water hungrily, she was parched. As she drank, conciouness slowly returned to her and she began to awaken fully. Her paw ached and she gritted her teeth and kept her mind off of the pain, after all, pain was nothing new nor anything to pay heed to. She looked around slowly, taking in the smells, sights, and sounds of this place. When she had had her fill of water and felt like she was ready to burst, she did her best to stand up. Elevating her injured paw, she licked it once and then stood on her 3 good legs. Felling more alive then she had in nearly a week, she took in a deep, yet hollow breath, and said softly, "Thank you, very much Ebony......" She looked at her new 'friend' and spoke quietly, "My name is Jenna......I was....I was afraid I was going to die out there.....You saved my life.....and for that.... I owe you." She inclined her head to pass the judgement. She then looked at the two young pups that were huddling at Ebony's feet, and smiled softly.
((Jenna loves babies and puppies...ehehehehe, cause I'mma sucka for dem))

"Pleased to meet you, Jenna," Ebony smiled, "These are my pups, Maven and Krill."
The pups, Maven and Krill, curled against their mother and nuzzled her.
"And I'm glad I could help a fellow wolf in need of aid," said Ebony, sitting down at last, "and we share a common enemy. Poachers have been a danger to us since they arrived here. I have been inclined to move my pups to someplace more safe, but this is the safest place I can find for now. It's the best that I can do."

Jenna nodded in agreement to the greeting and then smirked at the pups once more before she lay down and tended to her would.... She began licking it to stop the pain and perhaps cleanse it a bit, then she said, "yeah, normally I can avoid traps, bit this one... this one was different.....and she looked out into the surrounding woods continuing... "I couldn't smell it so therefore I couldn't smell it....I didn't know it was there until it was clamped around my foot." She then looked down and sighed....Then looking back up to Ebony, she said, "Safe? I knew of a place that was safe from predators and poachers once, but I'm afraid I can't seem to remember where it is...." She looks around confused, and then her ears go down....

"Hey, maybe it'll all come back to you soon," smiled Ebony, laying down now and letting the pups nurse, since she knew that's what they wanted. She barely had any milk left because of the scarsity of prey. And she was trying to wean them to solid meat too. It was hard for a single mother wolf to take care of her pups by herself.

A sleek blue-black black Panther with a splash of gold on her shoulder shaped like a phoenix slowly stepped out of her and her mate's den. She gave a stretch and looked around.
She retreated back in and returned, carrying a small cub by his scruff and settled down at the mouth of the den waiting for her mate to return.

Jenna lifted her self back up onto her legs......she was hungry now....and she had a feeling Ebony was too..... Dispite her wounds, she knew if she brought herself to it...she could take down some kind of prey, and so she stalked onward...putting little or no weight on her injury, but still walking smoothly. She walked off silently, not saying a word..........She'd cought the scent of something......Something she intended to catch.

Ebony watched Jenna go off to hunt something with concern. It wasn't a good idea to put weight, little if any, on that paw of her, but with the pups trying to get at least some form of nourishment from her.
Don't go too far, she thought, I can't leave these pups now, but we're all hungry. Good luck, Jenna.
She sighed and laid her head down on her front paws, letting the pups nurse.

Another wolf was out hunting. This one was of three different shades of purple with ice-blue eyes. He was carrying a mouse in his jaws, the only prey he could find, and it was for his mate, who was currently home at their den.

Jenna's hackles rose and she decided not to investigate it further....for she new, that even at her size....she was not up for a fight....
