In the year 2022, Radiator Springs had grown into a large town as more and more visitors stopped by to partake in the attractions that was offered and some of these visitors ended up moving in, thus making the population in the once-small town grow bigger. The original residents stuck around, though.
There was Luigi and Guido, ever helpful in a customers need for new tires. Flo and Ramone with their businesses, the diner and the bodyshop respectively. Doc's clinic had grown as he had acquired more staff, but he was still the judge and would probably remain so until he passed on. Good ol' Sheriff had retired by then and Edward Teague had taken over his roll as the Sheriff of Radiator Springs.
Of course, Lightning still remained in the town as it was his racing headquarters, living with his wife, Sally, and their son, Trevor at the Cozy Cone Hotel.
Mater was still busy towing in stranded travellers who had broken down along Old Historic Route 66. After all this time, the rusty old tow truck was still a kid at heart.
And then there were the local kids who lived in town with their families. Tonight they were all gathered around at Flo's talking about what they wanted to do before they had to head off to college.
"I think," said a hunter green Dodge Viper with mods, "that we should go on a cross-country trip and see the sights. What does everybody else think?"

"A trip, doesn't sound like a bad idea." A violet-blue car with a black cab and pale blue eyes replied. He could best be called a Vipes Am, a mix of Viper and Trans Am.
"Though I'm not sure if it'll will fly my folks, I'm still in trouble for what had happened at the last track." He said.

"I remember that," said a two-toned blue-violet and red Firebird-Bonneville mix with dark purple eyes, "Dad said that we would've seen the famous StreamLiner temper until Aunt Ebs prevented that from happening at the track."

The Vipes Am shrugged to his cousin. "How was I suppose to know that was gonna happen when I practiced throwing lightning? Mom never said 'don't' practice at the track."

Hideki Exan, the navy blue Shooter girl had a big grin on her face.
"A trip cross country, eh? Like on Spring Break? Sounds awesome!" said Hideki enthusiatically.

Krill grinned at Hideki, "At least someone agrees with me. And I'm pretty sure we can get our folks to agree to let us go. We're practically old enough to drive anywhere we want to now. They can't hold us back."

"Well.... some of us are practically adults anyways and anyone without their licenses yet, we can say that we'll look after them. Besides, I wanna go on some sorta trip!" said Hideki.

"Good idea," nodded Maven, "Since you, me, and Krill are the oldest. It would only seem proper."
"How about taking the trip on Route 66?" suggested Cerisa, the Firebird/Bonneville mix, "I hear there's a lot of neat sights along the way."

"Mom and Dad might let up then," The Vipes Am, Chase said. "though I don't think they'll let Shelia go. That would take a lot of convincing on our part. And I've never seen all of it. Doesn't start in Chicago?"

"That's what Sheriff Teague said when we asked him," said Krill, "We can go all the way on Route 66 until we get to Chicago and then we can decide where we can go from there."

"They do have some pretty cool stuff up there too." Chase said. "I think they have a bunch of art museums and stuff up there that you might like Mave."

Maven chuckled, "You know me too well, Cuz. Geez, I can't believe my interesting in art and painting began all the way back when I was 4. I'd like to visit those places up there. This should be fun."
"Does anyone have a map of Route 66?" asked Cerisa, who was also intrigue by the prospect of the trip, "we can plan out our trip by looking at the map and at least we can know where we are."

"Uncle Neil might have one," Chase suggested. "He has all kinds of maps, he use to race cross-country with Grampa."

"Maybe we can ask him," shrugged Cerisa, "Where would he be right now?"

"I think he's out at the Butte practicing his stunts," Chase said. "And it gives us the chance to sneak up on him. I've been getting good at scaring him like he did to our parents."
