<<< Raine: This is a year from now, March 2008. The caldera at Yellowstone erupted, blanketing much of North America in toxic ash. There are about 800-odd people in this bunker complex near the Four Corners area of Colorado. If you have any human characters, they're going to have to be inside there.>>>

The sounds bounced off the many facets of the cave walls. For a moment, Sid looked plain confused.
"Oh, you've got to be f***** kidding me here. Looks like we really are all dead."
He coughed, and felt a migraine coming on.
I've got to get my head sorted out. Too many questions. And not enough answers.

A black haired woman looked up, showing interest in her amber eyes of what she was hearing on her mini scanner she had. She tugged at the scarf that was wrapped securely around her neck. But not to guard from the chill, but kept the scars that had taken away her voice out of sight.
Alexis Ross, the local MacGyver techie, finally got up and decided to see what all the odd signals were about and found the jolly little group of others and a child. She rolled her eyes, they better hadn't be getting hopes up again.
She quickly signed with her gloved hand, covered in microchips and wires. 'What's happening,' The robotic voice spoke through the speaker on her shoulder. 'Where are those wavelengths we're picking up coming from.'
(((Think like the hardware that let the Gorilla in the movie Congo speak.)))

"From the way Aron dashed off to the radio room," said Delfina, "maybe they found something. It would probably help answer some questions."

((um...is this in the future or somethin'? I'm confuzzled with the setting... )) /* We're in March 2008. We're in a bunker because there has been a giant — I mean a giant — volcano eruption. Air is unbreathable outside, people are dying. Biggest part of America, if not the complete continent, is lost. */

"Aunt Tamara's there now." Dawn crinkled her brow. "She would hear it."
Tess's FRS radio sounded off, almost in unison with Joshua's. She plucked it off her belt. "I'm here, what's the story?"
"Tamara here," The voice crackled through. "We're getting radio and TV transmissions again, but you'd better come down here. It's got to be seen to be believed!"

The door between the comms room and the server room slammed open. That was Martin.
"We've got DHCP!"
(In human words: There's some link between the bunker and an Internet provider)

Raine blinked her eyelids with an annoyed groan as she rose out of her bunker, rubbing her head sleepily. "Unngh...wha...what was that?" she turned her head sharply towards the door, causing her long brown ponytail to whip the air while her bangs covered one of her wolf-amber eyes. Yawning softly, she idly got to her feet before walking towards her dresser, gazing into the mirror before brushing her hair until it was nice and straight and tied her hair back into a ponytail again. She frowned slightly at her reflection, scrutinizing her features in a self-crital manner.
She seemed a short and frail little thing without much in the way of girth, which was, in part, correct. Raine had the body weight of a malnourished bird. However, her lack of dimensions couldn't disguise the truly frightening projection of a fearsome young warrior. Despite being a woman she carried herself as a man might, spoke as a man might, and commanded attention like a man's man might. That she could produce such masculine volume was appalling.
She glanced at her apparel with a heavy sigh. She was pratically dressed in all black. black jeans, black shirt, black wristbands and black boots. the only thing that stood out in her outfit was a silver dogtag pendant, with an image of a howling wolf in front of a full moon. on the other side, the words 'Raine Hudson' were neatly etched into the silver with an elegant font. Raine considered this small acessory as her prized possesion.
Now, no one really knew where the mysterious girl had come from. In fact, she rarely talked to anyone within the sheltered walls. She never ate with or hung out with the other people either. She was strictly a lone wolf, isolated from any form of communication with her kind. She didn't mind, though. She actually reveled in the peaceful solitude away from the stressful crowded life the others had lived with.
Shaking her head slightly, Raine straightened her shirt and pendant before slipping quietly through the door and sprinted silently towards the source of the noise to investigate...

Tamara's professional training restrained her from completely jumping out of her chair at Martin's news. She looked over to him and to Alexis. "Tess is on her way down now."
There was now a small throng assembling at the door to the radio room. Tamara addressed the computer tech while keeping her own eyes completely on her work. "So Martin, what else are you getting there?"

"A WAN IP address.", Martin quickly replied.
"Looks like we'll be able to re-start our Google fights."
Although he knew the Seekers were mostly not harmful, he did have a little bit of worry about Tess. He sees her like Raël, that very controverted canadian guru. He did not really trust her. He did not want to fall into any cult, nor to be brainwashed.

"I'll try a browser here." Tamara answered. She started up Firefox on one screen, and what appeared to be the default Mozilla engine turned up. "There's something out there."
"What's this?" Tess followed her voice into the room. The tall, spare-looking woman adjusted her wire-framed glasses and studied the screens as the picasso images of scrambled satellite signals returned. "Can we get codes to de-encrypt those?"

As Aron found his way to the comm room, the radio shack, he stopped dead still. He thought he would hear something meaningful, from the military calming people down or something, a public announcement. Something maybe from NORAD, which had come to be an obession to him.
He did though not expect hearing the end of an ad with the words 'ka-chow!', and an announcer claiming that NCIS will begin shortly.
"We have CBS?" He asked, not seeing any TV monitor on.

"Aron?" Tamara called out without turning. "What do you know about cracking satellite feeds? We can get the sound, but not the image."
